can anyone decipher that graffiti on that auto rack at 1:42? Previous post is right, its almost all green! Any idea how many cars long? Were they loaded? They were pretty quiet so, my guess is that they were. Coming from Janesville? Belvedere? Normal? Ford City?
I love your videos. You catch some pretty nice trains. good work! And by the way, I love the sound they make going over the diamond. it's music to my ears
I sometimes travel this same route on my way to Chicago via Amtrak. I love the way you have captured freight operation in this area. Great job and kudos BoxcarFrank!
Ya the "real" Rock Island is gone. It's been gone for a while. Metra(a commuter line), Iowa Interstate, and CSX own the Rock Island line that runs by me. This particualar Metra Subdivision is called the Rock Island. So all the railfans call it the Rock Island still.
And technically the modern day Rock Island would be the Iowa Interstate Railroad. They still represent the Rock Island herald. Plus they took over much of their trackage.
Yea im planning on getting some Atlas Dash 9's, which seem like good locos for their price. I need some advice, though, before I buy them, To see if im getting something good to pull that Intermodal train. Please message me because I have Planned and found the perfect place to make da Layout. So now I can concentrate On the trains.
You dont need all Dash-9s! LOL get some B40-8s and B23-7s! Older power still in old ATSF warbonnet paint. Also try some EMD power. You'll have a nice variety.
No prob. you have a lot of very good vids. It seems you take most of your videos from just that spot, Im glad you [obviously] live by that so keep puttin on vds! I only have one line near my house and trains run on it all the time, the only problem is that its hard to video tape that area because its on a bridge over a dipped very busy highway. :( But i like ur vids -- if you can see a CP rail train coming up in that area where you vid. tape can you post it on here please.
Ya there is a CP line right there. Sees little action unfortunatly. It's usually a local job that switches the industries. A road diesel like a pair of GP38-2s is usually the locomotives used. (like the one you have in HO) :)

It adds more wear to the diamonds than to the wheels.
