Also NKOTB weren't gathered from all corners of the country like most other groups. All the guys new each other before hand with exception of McIntyre who came in later to replace Mark Wahlberg. Only 8 ppl tried out for the group when auditions were held but PRODUCER Maurice Starr and all 8 of them knew each other and hailed from the same neighborhood. Yes NKOTB did become a corporate commodity eventually, but they weren't put together by some record company.

A lot of ppl think that it is record labels that put together these "Boy Bands" in most cases it's completely false unless boy bands are the hot commodity at the moment, but in NKOTB's case it wasn't a major label plotting and planning NKOTB's genesis. In reality they were turned down by numerous labels in the beginning. It's usually a producer or would be producer who assembles these bands NOT record labels.
