  • Nice Surprise!!! PRS sounds damn GooooooooD!!!I didn't know I could have that classic LP sound and cheezy Strat tone in 1 guitar....boy this is worth a look. 600 pounds is some prize...but....i paid 1300 pounds 4 years back for a LP...... i think people need to look beyond Fender and Gibson with an open mind...an obviously that overrated Ibanez too.

  • i went from an American strat to a prs SE and let me tell my American strat had sharp frets buzzing even after 2 guitar center setups albeit guitar center setups may not be the best but i bought a SE and from day one it has a perfect neck and its just so warm. I'm an addict and i now i am raising money to buy either the new Santana SE or a ce22 used.

  • we can't see his feet. what if he's hitting pedals to change the tone?.....dun dun dun!!! lol jk

  • What's that in the background?

  • Zut alors...I have two really great custom 24's bot sold them both and am now left with two custom 22's and a Macarthy...should have kept one of the 24's......:(

  • PRS guitars are worth the money. They are lovingly put together using top quality components. I have played several guitars over the years and whilst, I agree Strats and Les Paul's are great guitars, the PRS Custom is better. It does it all, gives a wonderful bright clean sound right through to heavy, raunchy rock and beyond.

The playability is second to none as well (if you like to play fast, this is your rig)

Is it worth the money.... Absolutely! Anything else is second best !

  • Many of the SE's could almost pass (sound and feel) for American made guitars. I have the Mike Mushok baritone and it was such a great investment. I'm saving for a custom 24, Each time I pick up a Gibson now it just feels "off"....PRS will get my money for years to come....I would love to tour the factory.

  • I needed cash several years ago and sold my CE22 (I think it was) I miss it almost as much as the '74 Gold Top Les Paul Deluxe I also let go. No question PRS is #1 on my list, for the money. They're wonderful instruments. I think people who "cut their teeth" on Les Pauls would be more likely to be PRS fans than Strat people. I love the Strat sound, but their set-up and playability just doesn't suit my palate. On a Strat, I'm always banging the pick on the body just under the strings.

  • well, whats the deal with the 4-500 $ ones, im a guitarist of 12 years, but, i hear bands like creed and nickelback who have this beautiful sustained amazing sound, they use prs..are the cheaper ones any different?

  • @rockband vonamp you guys are fucking horrible.

  • he's not just saying that to sell guitars...that's really how good the cu24s are...I couldn't live without mine..granted they might not be for everyone...but they're definitely for me...fills the perfect niche between a lp and a strat but still amazingly heavy and articulate if you play metal

  • PRSssssssssssss

  • thats amazing. I've never utilized my pots like that. Have to try!

  • the mesa boogie its the tone of santana? wooowww

  • The Steve Jobbs of Guitar. Enough Said.

  • NEED HELP! im looking at getting a PRS i play spanish guitar, but can play electric to some degree quite well. I was woundering what type of sound and genre of music to play on the PRS, like blues or latin? And whether a bassy sound or more trebble?

    Any help. Thanks

  • @ROCKBANDVonAmp i thought it was impossible but you actually make the PRS and Gibson you use sound like a dying rape victim and the singer sounds like he has a glory hole ad on craigslist 24/7 its a shame you even had the chance to own a guitar your music makes me wana shit puke and throw up turds...

  • He sounds like Dave Mustaine!

  • i dont like 24 frets, they push the neck pickup an inch towards the bridge, so its tone is not as mellow. give me 21 or 22 frets

  • @telecasterbear PRS make a 22 fret version the Custom 22, same thing less frets.

  • I LOVE my PRS Custom 24!!!! It's awesome - tour with it everywhere! I write just about every song we do on it! It's truly phenomenal - the best I've ever played! -Tony Busey (lead singer/guitarist)

  • @ROCKBANDVonAmp

    do you play hard rock?

  • @MrRichard911 Our music has more of a classic rock vibe, but with hard rock solos. I have 2 main guitars - the PRS Custom 24 and a Gibson Les Paul Studio Model. If you see our feature vid, I rock a couple solos on the PRS. I'm the long haired lead singer. We're way better vocally now (see our newer vids at the top of the list) - a lot has changed! I just like this original song (Watchtower). I write or co-write all of our songs. I can really move on this PRS - it's a great guitar! -Tony

  • @ROCKBANDVonAmp

oh ok, i'll be checking you out :P

  • @ROCKBANDVonAmp oh ok

thanks!!! i'll be checking you out :P

  • HELP!!!

Im about to purchase my first Paul Reed Smith..

I love the finish on the 'Navarro signature (Jet White) £1,700..but will i spend the extra £200-£300 for a Ten-Top..will the quality of guitar be any different with the leap in price?

  • I used to have one of these, a custom 22 with all the options (used for 1650) and I can honestly say that even at that price, I was apprehensive. They're awesome guitars, but not for ANY more than about 2k.

I now own an Ibby RGA121 and, after throwing in some BKP's, it sounds as good if not better than the PRS...and for only about $750.

  • does anybody know what the color of the guitar he's holding?

    cherry or tobacco sunburst?

  • Haha lol at the strat sound, nothing like it lol. But its a great guitar

  • I own a custom 24 with 59/09 pickups. it's by far the most inspiring guitar I've ever played. the tonal range is amazing, and the clarity is just mind blowing.

  • he has big stuby fingers

  • When I win the lotery... I buy a PRS Bass...

    ;D

  • I didn't know Buster from Arrested Development played guitar ... " Hey brother .. bitchin tone "

  • @LifesonFan4Life Hey hermano! Awesome!

  • This guitar is actually 3000 dollars. The Custom 24 SE version is around $500.

  • beautiful guitar!!!

  • Are these guitars like £1000

  • im not a fan of prs, the only one i've played was awful, but that might have just been a lemon

  • I will argue that a PRS is better then a Les Paul any day. I got a PRS SE model recently, and I frickin love that thing. Having played both Gibson and PRS, PRS beats a Gibson everytime. You cant go wrong with a PRS.

    PRS

    ESP/LTD

    Gibson

Those are my favs.. in that order

  • I like Fender Telecasters Pretty good. But I love PRS too

  • I wouldnt mind having a Tele. Theyre pretty sweet. Ive got my eye on one of the John 5 signature models lol

  • Iv'e heard good thing bout that one. plus the headstock and chrome pickguard are pretty sweet too. go for it.

  • I will when I have the $1500 for it xD

  • PRS is by far the most expensive

  • And by far the best sounding. You can play ANYTHING you want on them and they sound amazing

  • no they aren't.

  • I'd be interested to hear what your "better brand" is. Gibson surely ain't better though. The only decent guitars they have to their name are Les Paul and the SG.

And apparently Gibson is under a federal investigation for smuggling illegal rosewood from Madagascar, in which case, Gibson may not be around much longer

  • I was actually referring to the "they're the most expensive" statement. I love PRSi, brilliant guitar. But I'd be much more inclined to take the 2-3000 bucks they command to a luthier and get a custom instrument thats actually hand made. Mike Sherman, Blackmachine (albeit they are closer to 4-5 grand), Oni, the list of custom builders goes on and on.

  • Oops, my bad lol

And yeah, I would agree with that. I wouldn't mind owning one of the higher end PRSs, but a custom built guitar is always a good bet too

  • You could always go for a PRS Private Stock.

  • Haha The best of both worlds

  • if you have the money, yes. I'd be scared to play a 10-15000 dollar guitar, though!

  • Haha You and me both. I'm thinkin if you have that kind of money to spend on the guitar, repair fees would be the least of your worries

  • very true.

  • even if they were usin illegal wood from madagascar that would make it morr valuable

  • Have you noticed Gibson prices on the high end models?

  • These are sweet guitars.. I just bought one that was modified with gibson burstbucker pro pickups for $300(crazy good price). It has great sustain and feel and the burstbuckers make it sound great.

  • Larry LaLonde had great taste

  • Used in Mint Cond. Custom 24 w/birds 10 top $1,800.00, up wards to $2,100.00

Used in Mint Cond. Custom 22 w/birds 10 top $1,800.00, up wards to $2,100.00

  • hi there is the back knob a tone select instead of a switch

  • WAY OVERPRICED

  • I beg to differ. I was just at Music Village (local guitar shop), and I played an $800 ESP guitar (which was brilliant, don't get me wrong), then a $600 PRS, and the PRS surpassed it be metaphoric MILES! I am a fan for life, having just played one for about an hour today.

    PRS

    ESP

    Gibson

those are the best, in my mind.

  • 600$ a PRS? Most probably a SE PRS (I have one). Not bad for the price, but of course, not a match to US PRS...

  • The se sounded just as good as the higher quality prs's through the marshall halfstack i was using at my local guitar shop.

  • You are right on about the quality! I was going to buy a Gibson faded SG and the PRS SE quality was much better. The necks are absolutely fantastic. I hated to go with an overseas guitar over an american gibby, but after playing it the decision was made!

  • A new custom 24 without a 10 top and moon inlays will run around 2 grand

If you know where to look. You cant trust guitar center they are wayyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced

PRS's are about the same price as gibsons and are way better

You just have to be smart enough to know guitar center is ripping you off

  • Exactly! I bought my PRS SE Paul Allender signature model through them, and when I got it, they didnt even get a fresh one out of the back (like the music store i used previously did). They gave me the display model which had faded gold hardware and no wammy. I MADE them give me the wammy bar, but Im still pissed about getting a guitar theyd had on display for months. I order all my stuff online now, that way youre guaranteed a fresh off the line guitar

  • + its an se

  • @S.s.PRS Very true. I'm still probably going to get a 24 from guitar center. But only because of this one guy that has been helping me out. I also bet I could get him to bring it down a lot. He was going to sell me a used 22 at a price at which GC made no profit (he was trying to go lower, but couldn't as the computers that process the payment would not let him, and he would be losing money) but I said na as it had to many dings n' dints, still nice though. The 24 that I get wold be undisplayed.

  • @SoundsystemPRS I got my custom 24 for 1700 brand new of the line with a ten top. deffinetly the best guitar i've ever played and i owe it all to World Guitars!

  • thats pretty sweet

  • I love the way he says "amplifier"

  • i see him yesterday^^

  • i have an indie super t guitar that i paid £300 for,and think it's fantastic!!!but do like prs guitars, just out of my price range!!!but there are some great cheap guitars, that would sound great in professional hands!!!

  • ugh, i want one of those SOOO SOOO bad. time to start savin the green

  • alguien sabe si esa guitarra es la que usa santana, por favor si alguien sabe que guitarras usa actualmente informeme por favor, gracias de antemano.

somebody can tell me if that guitar is the model using of santana?

  • Esa no es...solo se que es PRS...me imagino que custom...

  • Muito Bom, essas guitarras são demais!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Você tem uma cara?

  • O.o incredibly..yoo (Y)

  • im doing a research paper on the evolution of the electric guitar in language arts class and im interviewing him. I am SO excited.

  • great!

can you tell me how it goes?

  • sure!

  • Your nickname is cool! (I just had to say it!)

  • hah thanks (=

  • Lucky, I had to do a 8 page paper on Ben Franklin.,,,,Boring.

  • ugh ya gross. how do u possibly fill that may pages with words about ben frankilin lol. i would die! its just cool that i got to pick my own topic....my teachers usually dont do that.

  • as far as tone goes, it's subjective, & in your hands. check out david lindley sometime. he makes any string instrument sound great. he has used a dumble, but he has amazing hands. so did steve gaines from skynyrd. play & enjoy

  • I TOTALLY AGREE!!

    I really hate them.

  • well there CE guitars blow a Les Paul Studio and Mexican Strat away

Im just going on there lower end guitars

Ive played a PRS SE and it blew a Gibson Les Paul Standard away lol

  • hondo suck

  • wow that's more tones than you can get outuva strat...

and i am a absolute strat fan

  • how are prs se series guitars compared to esp's or schecter c-1 blackjacks

  • there is no comparison. PRS are top class guitars

  • Amen to that.

  • necks on the PRS SE are stated as wide/fat or standard. The standard neck is similar to the C-1. C-1 Blackjacks have EMGs, ESPs have EMGs. Quality wise the SE is probably the same as the LTD 400 series.

  • pleas tell me what kind of masa boogie that is thanks

  • In my life I've had a gibson sg, jackson kelly, strat, tele, ernie ball axis, schecter omen, ibenez and a vintage tiesco (believe it or not). I currently have a prs mccarty ii and it smokes everyone of those guitars.

  • That amp would make anything sound good...

  • Mesa is not a pristine clean amp. Of course when you change pickups you're going to get a little overdrive on it. You can get those tones with pretty much any guitar on that amp. Yes PRS is a fine instrument, I can get an array of tones like that from a Gibson SG for less than half the price by using the pickup switch, volume and tone knobs on the guitar. I can't afford a $4000 guitar, and the necks on the SE series are too fat.

  • i got an ibanez joe satriani model and my dad has a prs i prefer the fretboard on the prs because it is more or less just straight and with the ibanez the fretboard is a tiny bit rounded but i like them both the same.!

  • Damn it, I badly want a PRS, but they're too expensive for me at the moment... ugh

  • You can always get an PRS SE Series guitar.

  • the se's arent that expensive

  • @Jakaroo44 same! and i have to buy a car soon so im going to have to wait a while.

  • i have a jackson dinky something. honestly. i dont really use the whammy.. or the sustainer. whats a good guitar for rock metal maybe a few acdc type crap.. whats a good guitar like a little more then $1000 i was thinking les paul studio. i rarely use the whammy. so floyd rose is just a pain for me.

  • I'd say les paul studio solid mahogany, those are beautiful and the tone is great. I want one crazy bad.

  • you didnt just call ac/dc crap did you?

  • if he didnt then i will....ac/dc sucks little scool boy cock

  • Cool , I dont know like anything about guitars , but I have 1 question : How do you get the sound as Carlos Santana does ? , an example is : Into The Night Ft Chad kroeger at 2:10 , check it out if you want , but please if you know the answer please tell me sir , thanks.

  • There are a lot of specifics in regards to how to get a specific tone. The player themselves. P/U configuration (on the PRS 513 the player has 13 different configs). Amp settings. Effects used and their settings. The best thing to do is to experiment. Use a program like Amplitube or Guitar Rig and see if you can dial in the settings that way. Santana & Chad BOTH use PRS guitars too.

  • Well I use a PRS custom 22, big muff distortion and a mxr compressor through a fender deville amp. that gets pretty close. obviously the recorded song has the benefit of going through post production at a multi million dollar studio so its hard to say how to EXACTLY get that tone. Its safe to say their are multiple guitars and effects that could potentially produce that tone, you just gotta play around with it.

  • Wow, this guy wants to invent the bicycle again!

The same thing was done by Fender and Les Paul way back in time.

  • I've heard many different peoples opinions on the difference between an Epiphone and Gibson. Most common thing I hear is that Epi is more consistent with their quality. If you were to switch the pickups of a high-end Epi you'd have a guitar that is just as good as a Gibson as far as sound quality. And you are saving a few hundred dollars by doing so. Basically, with Gibson, you just pay for the name. You can get a damn good Epiphone for way less cash. That said, PRS are usually praised by all.

  • I've got to say, for the price, Epiphone makes a damn good product.

  • I am pretty happy with my Epi Les Paul Custom. ;)

  • Yes, but will it blend?

  • yes every thing blends except Chuck Noris

  • it blends pretty well. But if you the best guitar for blending, u want the 513, you can get any sound in the world you could want.

  • I see them as equals, although if you plan on selling the guitar later, the Gibson will retain it's value better than the Epiphone.

  • True, but if a guitar is any good, why would you wanna sell it in the first place? :)

  • Many reasons to do that, espscially if its expencive!

  • to make room for a different one

  • youre all a bunch of sad pricks. All this crap about rare woods and handbuilt this and that is just marketing. Pickups affect a guitars tone more than anything else. A fender and prs with emg pickups would sound more alike than 2 fenders with different pickups. I bet you snobs couldnt identify a prs in a blind test with a gibson and fender if all had the same pickups. All you fools do is talk shit.

  • YOU don't know what you're talking about AT ALL. FIRSTLY, a bad strat copy made from agathis is going to sound nasty in comparison to a consistent density light weight piece of alder that's been adequately dried. SECONDLY a PRS made with mahogany and rosewood with a tilted headstock and set neck will NEVER sound like a strat with alder and maple woods with a straight headstock and bolted neck... you'd know this if you actually listened to any of these guitars you so carelessly describe.

  • Huh? I never said to compare a real strat and a shit copy. I said a fender strat and a prs with the same pickups will sound more alike than 2 identical fenders with different pickups. You can make an ok guitar sound great with good pickups and you can make a so called high end guitar sound like shit with poor pickups. DECENT wood is important yes but this rare wood crap is just that, crap. quality ridge, nut, tuners and yes PICKUPS are far more important. Ok? Good day.

  • your just mad you cant afford a prs. lol

  • hahaha

  • was that a mesa mark II, or III? or what was it. it sounded great, and i want that sound haha.

  • wait..

how do you get that distorted tone again?

i dont get what he means when he says "bite down."

  • SE singlecut btw

  • can you get a whammy bar for a PRS?

  • You sure can.

  • Can I get a PRS guitar tone (like Santana's) on an Epiphone? (I am new to electric guitars ^^)

  • tone comes from your fingers

  • Thats not very helpful.. <.<

  • mesa boogie amplifier, dozens of stompboxes, SKILLS, a guitar (not an epiphone toy)

  • with every comment you further prove your ignorance. santana doesnt use dozen of stomp boxes, he uses very few so they dampen his signal. and he hardly ever uses them to boot. and epiphone makes a decent LP, throw in new pickups and itll sound pretty good. if you'd rather judge a guitar by its brand name rather then quality then be my guess, stick with your jacksons and ESPs

  • dont dampen his signal*

  • ouch, cry me a river, american genious... epiphones sucks major balls, in my hell opinion, you dont have to agree. and, im playing custom handcrafted guitar, not jacksons or esps/ltds

  • i agree with alexander.. just try the epiphone sheraton II and tell me that's not a nice guitar.

  • actually thats my goal with my epi lp standard. if I were you, Id throw some santana III pickups in there. Im about to do that myself, what type of guitar do you have?

  • I have an Epiphone G400. Well, I am about to get one (it's a Christmas gift).

  • does anyone know is thats a mark III? Im on my way to getting a prs and I have a lonestar, but perhaps this amp is worth checking out!

  • i took my pickups out of my billy martin soapbar...those had a badass VERSATILITY

  • great video! thanks, man! i LOVE my 5 way pick up selector!!! use it every night on stage!

  • I seen 100 dollar guitars with seymour or EMG pickups etc sound and play like 2000 dollar guitars, the pickups create the sound, wood tone and all this other mumbo jumbo, really now

  • inagod are you ignorant or just plain stupid? pickups are nowhere near being the only thing that affects a guitars tones. body woods, neck woods, fretboard material, is it a set in neck or bolt on, what guauge strings does it have, is it a fixed or tremolo bridge: all these things affect the tone. throw EMGs in an alder body guitar and throw them in a mahogany body guitar and trust me they wont sound the same. although I wouldnt do that since EMGs sound like nu-metal crap anyway...

  • how pickups may sound like music genre? retard

and believe me, if you throw ACTIVE emg pickups (81, 85, 89, singles for example) to any wood/shape guitar, it will always sounds the same - only sustain may be diffrent

  • before you hit the post comment button why dont you make sure you're not butchering the english language again. and what I meant is they only sound good for high output distortion, which is why mostly metal guitarists use them. and you're an idiot, not only will the sustain be different but the tone will be too. different woods resonate in different ways resulting in different tones! who would've guessed?

  • Spot on mate, at last a bit of sense! There again with the amount of gain on these modern amps most of these heads might aswell just buy a leadstar! PRS is wasted on them.. EMGs, spare me

  • paul is quite the musician himself not just a great builder he knows good tone

  • PRS has huge hands.

  • Les Paul+Fender=Paul Reed Smith

  • sorry, no PRS i've seen has ever been able to sound like a real Strat, or a real Les Paul. Why doesn't it have its own sound? All it's ever sounded like was a hodge-podge

  • well, you're quite wrong. paul reed smith said himself hes not trying to replicate strats and les pauls, just trying to make a quality instrument thats extremely versatile. show me one les paul or strat that can play all the tones he does in this video. prs' do have their own sounds, just give a santana record a quick listen.

  • oh and to that les paul statement, check out an sc245. in my opinion they kill les pauls for tone and playability. and theyre ready to play from the get go, everyone knows practically all gibsons need a good setup coming from the factory. and dont even get me started on how generic gibson pickups are

  • dumbest comment ever. its more than just the sound. the craftsmanship on a prs guitar is by far better than gibson or fender. its not just the sound it makes but how it feels and how easy it is to play and get the sound you want out of the instrument. play one before you start to criticize.

  • burned

  • good job paul, good job... but low the prices!!

  • eez guitar players are always complaining about expensive expensive expensive...Get over it, we guitar players have it the easiest and LUCKIEST because trying being a violinist, a top quality instruments gonna cost you half million... how about bassoon?? Changing your cello strings are gonna cost you $100 bucks or more... and here we are constantly complaining about a $2000 top quality guitar... i'd say we have a pretty damn good deal. Guitars are some of the cheapest instruments to make.

  • yeah ferrari look so kool, are sounding really great and ... omfg i forgot im a poor bastard who does something else then play guitar. im pretty sure they are ferrari like guitar but they still have a ferrari like price tag attach to it.

  • jeez guitar players are always complaining about expensive expensive expensive...Get over it, we guitar players have it the easiest and LUCKIEST because trying being a violinist, a top quality instruments gonna cost you half million... how about bassoon?? Changing your cello strings are gonna cost you $100 bucks or more... and here we are constantly complaining about a $2000 top quality guitar... i'd say we have a pretty damn good deal. • I have a PRS McCarty and Strat American Deluxe with the peavey satriani custom amp and i couldnt be happier

  • And because they cost so much. That's why the building exists

  • No idea the guitar was so versatile. I have been a strat guy for a long time, but I think I have to reconsider.

  • look up the prs 513. That's versatile

  • AND expensive

  • about same price as 24 custom

  • this is the guitar of my dreams....when I've enough money I will buy!!!!!
