Anyone else with a scintilla of knowledge about the UPC branch of theology find it more than a tad hypocritical that this guy is on TELEVISION?!!? These are people who believe television is evil and yet he's on it. Ditto for knowing what kids listen to when radio is held in a similar low regard. He has a moral flexibility that makes Gumby look rigid!
You know that, I know that, unfortunately Howard has the popularity. And to be fair Howard did earn it, but there is no question that he was HEAVILY 'influenced' by Steve Dahl. There are just too many bits from the early years that are almost identical for it to be a complete coincidence. I've actually grown to appreciate Howard, and I do respect his impact on radio, comedy, popular culture, but it will always annoy me that Steve doesn't get wider public credit for creating 'shock' radio!
The Reverend Steven Timmons is alive and well. He lives in Beloit, Wisconsin. This guy is truly a slime. He was kicked off eBay for selling bootleg DVDs. Now he buys them from other sellers to add to his collection, and when he gets the package he threatens to report them unless they refund his money and allow him to keep the merchandise. If you look him up on Facebook he claims to be quite holy - what a pathetic human being.
Why does that not surprise me?! Once a douche always a douche! It's so funny in this interview how the guy completely ignores any statements that he's confronted on and just rambles on with total BS that has no factual basis. From your description it sounds like he hasn't changed a bit, still a typical extremist wackjob! Thanks for the comments and the 'update' on Rev. Douchebag!
@unlikeanyotherhuman This 'preacher' or whatever he is is just another religious extremist wacko! Sadly there are still many around to this day, and this video is from almost 30 years ago. Pretty sad.
Oh man, I wish I did, I remember it well, classic stuff. I have to look around in the archives because I thought I had at least one of the Christmas Carol shows, but I know it wasn't that particular one. As I recall they did it a few times over the years.
I think I might have a "It's a Won-Dahl-ful Life" episode somewhere too but I'm not sure. Magnetic tapes tend not to last, part of the reason to go digital and share what I still have!
Thanks for checking in, more to come soon. Later.
You hit the hammer right on the nail Steve about the preachers and evangelists. Then after this interview, you had Styx created Kilroy Was Here in response to the censorship of rock music then Tipper creating the PMRC, Ozzy poking fun of Jimmy Swaggart (after Swaggart got caught with the prostitute) in the video for "Miracle Man". Genesis poking fun at evangelists in the video for "Jesus He Knows Me". That parody of "Call Me" was hilarious Steve.
So true, Steve was right on the money, and once again way ahead of the curve in terms of radio, popular culture, and the reaction to the building 'outrage' over music and entertainment by many from the religious right at that time (sadly, many of these types are still around). The Tipper Gore, fake liberal types didn't help either (no liberal in the real meaning of the word would support censorship), thanks fully people like Steve Dahl, Frank Zappa, and many, many others stood up to that crap!
