It depends on what you play, but if you can play. Some sections are harder to get into than others. However, if you can play well, and march in time, then you have a good chance of making it. I would definitely try out if you are even considering it.
We actually had to pay our own way. The band recieved some monetary donations, but the majority of the trip was on the shoulders of the student going.
Awesome. I'm so sad the trip is over. This was d efinitely the greatest experience of my life. Out of the entire trip, this was probably the best/most memorable part. I am the Tuba on the camera's right side, that is visible for a second at the end of the video. I'm the furthest tuba to the right. (The left side if you were in the band.)
HAIL PURDUE!!!!! Those birds flying around were ridiculous. And are those the 2008-2009 silver twins? Great quality of audio! Thanks for sharing even before the band returns to the states tomorrow!
looks like it was a great trip ....

I'm so glad my high school has this fight song!
"Hail Hail Lakota East
all hail to the old black and white
hail hail lakota east
for you we will always fight (fight fight fight)
ever faithful ever true as we raise our song anew
feel the thunder rumble through
all hail the hawks be true"

The older version had a cool countermelody that the trombones have, but it was slightly different.

How difficult is it to make the clarinet section? Can you tell me how many people try out and how many many make the cut? Thanks!

This looks like it was a great trip. It's strange - and sad - how the other people on the comments board are seeing it as a waste of time:(

This comment has received too many negative votes show
and why did my school bother wasting like $50,000 on such a pointless trip?

The kids paid a big part of their own expenses. It was a great trip.

Now what was my college's band doing at the great wall of china?
terminator1111in 3 years ago
The Chinese ministry of culture invited us to perform. We were the first college marching band ever to be invited by the Chinese govt.
It was an amazing experience and well worth the cost to go.
