  • Border Collies are easy to train. They are always listening. You just have to bond with them. Food isn't their ultimate reward. Toys are or giving them a job is. And if you want their attention you have to get them to look you in the eye. Bonding is required if you want them to give you attention. They are too high strung and are too busy working.

  • try to teach a great pyrenees that a difficult dog to train when they dont feel like it :P

  • Hahahaha at 1:46 she has to hit the dog with her knee just to make it sit.

  • all these expert village videos are actually terrible.

  • Hi im an annoying retard! dont watch this!

  • U need to make a video just to teach a dog it's name? stupid...dogs pick up their names easily

  • this bitch knows nothing

  • She didn't take the treat..because she has more interesting things to do!

BC's tend to respond better to their toys, than treats

  • I disagree that this dog is focused on an "imaginary herd of sheep" and that is why she is having trouble listening. everything about her body language says she is fearful. Also not sure what you mean by "looking away is a typical border collie behavior.". Looking away is a typical "I'm nervous" behavior for any breed. She's showing signs of being fearful of you, but you then get closer to her, so she shows more signs of being fearful, hoping it will increase the distance between you and her.

  • @MsGoodHands

Soo true, Bubbles was probably wanting her owner. They aren't difficult at all to train and no it isn't typical for them to look away. They are the epitome of focus, but they are also 1 person/family dogs. If they don't know you, and not trained to listen to others fat chance. Definitely a breed whose trust you have to earn first. My own BC is like that, he knows his name but if he doesn't know you he just ignores you unless its a training session.

  • I would hate to be a trainer and read all the rude stupid comments. I think you were doing everything right. I am not a trainer but have trained all of my dogs, all different breeds. I now have a BC. Very intelligent but the hardest dog to train. You have to gain there trust in order to get them to respond to you. I am still working on getting my dog to focus on me while out on walks. I've used treats, toys , clicker training . I'm making slow progress. She's awesome at home though, very obe

  • it really looks like the dog wants to run away.... hahah a herd of squirrels?.funny. i dont think shes useless, just think shes treating the dog like a pet cat or something.. and no they not hard to train but they can have problems like trust if they were not handled properly as puppies. this dog doesn't look difficult to me, just looks a bit intimidated by that woman...

  • this video should be titled "dog training for morons"

  • @TreyRust or dog training from a moron.. she knew nothing

  • @1cover1t Yeah, that would be a more apt title...

  • your not very good... i hate people force there dog to follow right away...

  • SHE´S A F*CKING ROBOT!!!

  • Ok ur dog is pulling away from u because she wants you to calm down. U forcing her on a tight leash like that is really intimidating. Poor dog wouldn't u hate to be her

  • Nicely failed, haha. Well played, Bubbles.

  • you need to have a strong voice for a disobedient collie like this one, not a high pitched squeek like hers.

  • Haha wot a fail

  • Oh! she didnt take the treat!? USE A TOY! most BC's arent food hounds... UGH. everything she says is like.. um no lady...uuummm....nooo.....

  • OMG!!! these ppl are IDIOTS!!

  • Dog would respond better if you were not making a video. Just saying

  • You are a horrible trainer and have no idea what you are doing.

  • whoops expert village

  • "that little lick means shes really nervous and again she didnt take the treat. So this is more of an exemple-"

So this is more of an exemple of how much you have no idea what the hell your talking about. The end.

  • Uhhhhhh, I can't see shit. Please leave me a demonstration!

  • lol,she´s so stupid!! xD

  • This woman doesn't know what she's talking about.

  • mine is "strong willed"

  • This lady doesn't seem to have a clue on how to train a dog. If the dog isn't interested in the treats then get something that does interest it. A frisbee, a ball or anything else dogs love to play with. Also getting down to their level also helps. This lady needs to be trained by Zak George. He's one of the best trainers I know of and it will be his techniques that I use when I get a BC.

  • Can someone give me some suggestions of some names for a black white tip tail puppy? She's more then 4 months old now and I still can't find a name for her, I don't want quite names I want a name that inspires dread, her mother's name is Cobra and I want a name to match her mother's, not necessarily a snake breed name.

  • @JohnBlack666id maybe rattle? like a rattlesnake and her tail matches too!

  • @kailichia that would be perfect except for the fact that in my language rattle is the same with tinker bell, sounds like this "clopotzel" and I don't like it. I could use the english word but no one can pronounce it here :D Thx for the suggestion.

  • lol so much for an expert.

  • how about you use that leash u have in ur hand and give it a tug get her attention wow crazy huh

  • If you don't want respect from the dog give it that tug. In the end YOU will be the loser. BC's need to be treated with respect. Only then you will get respect from the dog in return and he/she is willfully wanting to work with you. I know because we had on BC for over 12 Yrs. We just started again with a new pup of 9,5 Wks old. That will be a great companion as well.

  • Aside from being a terrible video in general (like most from expertvillage) the audio sounds like a dinosaur gasping for breath.

  • lol, border collie is one of the easiest dogs to train, and one of the fastest learners, taking out from my experience.

  • I'm glad I didn't pay for this.

  • epic fail to work with a collie you need to understand them better

  • FAIL!!! Hilarious!!!

  • A herd of squirrels? lol

  • Squirrel!

  • Bubbles dont like you.

  • No disrespect but my Border Collie would be dragging you about that park 30 seconds into the video.

Your trying, and god loves a trier. :)

  • BC is not a difficult dog, you are making it difficult by having no talent at dog training.

  • hahahaha im with you the hole way my 4 bc's are very smart

  • LOl fail!

  • Wow, how is that a difficult dog? Get something the dog likes, not some lame dry treat. Imaginary sheep - riiiiigggghhhhttttt... sigh...

  • Fail lady. That dog is scared of you, note the tail between its legs?Yeah.

  • MOVE THE FOOD TO MY EYES. LOOK AT MY EYES, DOG. LOOK AT MY EYES, GOD DARNIT! and the dog is like ' who the hell are you? get away from me!' LOL XD herd of squirrels...

i only watch expertvillage because it is incredibly stupid but also quite funny XD

  • "how to train difficult dogs"? Border collie is one of the easiest breeds to train

  • Yeah I agree boder collies rule.

  • @TheRyder89 one of? its consider to be the easiest!

  • @TheRyder89 no, actually they aren't

  • Wow that was terrible.

  • post it on failblog

  • I agree. I think I just got a little dumber.

"Bubbles"...... "Bubbles"...... (dog sits) "Good" and gets a treat.

    LMAO

Next time someone calls the name "Bubbles" she will sit

    o.0

  • why do they put this shitty trainers on youtube...

  • "A herd of Squirrels?"...hmmm

    whats next?

    A 'Flange of Weasels?"

    A 'Whoop of Bats?"

    A "Twat of Trainer?"

  • A border collie is a difficult dog?!?

  • @umetnica82 from my understanding a border collie is the smartest dog in the world. so NO a Border collie is not a dificult dog

  • @earcolos i think it depends on the dog. I bought a border collie 8 months ago under the assumption that they're smart dogs and easy to train. Alfie still pees overnight, chews things he's not supposed to, ignores calls when out walking... I wouldn't change him for anything though :-)

  • 1:32 lol herd of squirrels. LMAO

  • Did she really say herd of squrrels?! OMG. This lady is soooo stupid. I mean... DUH SHE IS NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really, you can see that all the dog wanted to do was get away from her.

  • this is the wordt dog trainer ever

  • I think that dog is smarter than the trainer.

  • That dog hates you, lady.

  • put shock collar on da biotch not da dog

  • Another dog training idiot. That dog doesn't like her and neither do I. At this age Bubbles should be a fully trained dog.

  • poor dog

  • poor dog, it oviously feels bit hesitant and doesnt like the woman other wise it would listen to her.

  • look woman. y dont u learn dog behaviour be 4 u try training dogs. ur an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • If the dog liked her, it woule have focused on her, she had done something to that dog before the beginning of the video, the dog hates her.....won't even take the treat !

  • this was a total watse of my time. the woman pulled the dogs lead and forced it to look at her and the lick the woman said was showing she was nervous was probaly the dog begging her to stop.

    brilliant, smart dog

crap trainer, don't quit your day job.

  • 1:32 Did she REALLY just say a HERD of SQUIRRELS?

  • why not find something the dog likes better than treats?

  • plus, when the woman said the dogs name for the first time, the dog almost went down with her ears pulled back.

and one thing about ppl saying this dog has a bad name. the dog doesnt know what her name means so it doesnt really matter what her name is! if sumone named their dog bullshit, the dog wouldnt care..duh.

  • the dog was stressed out, thats why she didnt want to take the treats. or maybe she doesnt get motivated by food but stressed out she was. and the reason why she didnt look at the woman was bcoz maybe she isnt so open with ppl she doesnt know. the woman shouldnt have kept the leash so tight all the time and the thing when she used her leg and pushed the dog to sit!! WTF?? the woman was also bending over the dog and like, forcing the dog to do stuff...i didnt like this.

  • This video taught me absolutely nothing.

Shoving food in dogs face didn't even work for you.

  • Difficult dos? DIFFICULT DOGS? Their the smartest breed in the world actully and thats a FACT. Look it up!!!!

  • stupid

  • Except for the "set your dog up to succeed" statement that woman not only is a boring and below average trainer, she knows NOTHING about Border Collies.

  • that was stupid the dog didn't even look at her when her name was called

  • I wouldn't look at HER either. It was just trying to get away from her!

  • this was actually very helpful. All the training videos you see are always of dogs that already know the command, or are easy to train. This was actually very instructive. You can't keep trying of a) dog is not open to the reward b) you can't elicit any behaviors. Actually, very instructive. Would love to see the follow up video link (of said indoor training) posted with this video

  • Bubbles is the exact opposite name i would associate with that breed of dog.

  • that was really sad...poor dog...i bet he wanted to bite her

  • That dog needs to train datbitch she is a squirrel expert village of idiots

  • expert village! hahaha...more like dipshit village

  • Have to say that was really bad...And looking away "at imaginary herds" is not a border collie thing...this trainer had no controll over the situation...did she even watch this video before someone posted it... how embarassing!

  • ballintup1993 talks sense. This woman has no clue what that dog is thinking at all, i bet she never managed to train him. i'd advise her to look up Cesar millan ;)

  • The poor dog is scared!!!!! She needs to stay away from dogs!!!

  • o ya. my border collie puppy knows how to sit and lye down and hes not even house broken yet. And guess wqht i taught him with scobysnax. o ya and my bdc typing this what now!!!!!

  • i think the dog wants OUT of this situation! Especially being called BUBBLES!!?? What sort of name is that for a working dog!? Poor dog. How embaressing.

This video is even funnier after reading peoples comments!

  • that woman is an idiot

  • omfg

i hate your "bright happy voice"

    and a herd of squirrels?

    LMFAO... wow.

  • they is something up with you no effence i mean at the firstr you go i hate this and i hate that and then at the end you go wow.

  • Wow... seriously, border collie behavior is NOT to look away. and train them with food? haha, mine won't even consider food if they are "working". they'll spit it out. BAD example of how to train a border collie.

I give this lady credit for trying, but no credit for being even remotely correct.

  • do you not see that the dog is scared of the lady??!?!??!? WTF is she talking about... squirrels??? imaginary herd of sheep?!?!?

  • That dog is simply scared and it's showing signs of avoidance in response. The trainer obviously has a long way to go in understanding the body language of dogs, which is rather disturbing considering how vital that aspect of training is. Why she's attempting to teach anyone about dogs with her level of skill and outdated methods is beyond me.

I would recommend anyone interested to read a dog psychology book such one of Stanley Coren's books to at least get the basics regarding dog behavior.

  • Looking away is not a typical border collie thing, a typical border collie characteristic is to STARE DOWN, and she isnt "looking at a herd of squirrels, she's avoiding her, the dog is scared shitless

  • Will someone please get that stupid woman away from that border collie! Holy crap what bullshit!!!!!

  • how to teach a border collie their name? you just talk to them and call them the same name, they'll get it. and plus this dog is soo scared, a reg border collie would be focused and listening, as all mine do.

  • I think the dog just looked ashamed at being caught on film with her. Brilliant video tho, watched it a few times... pure comedy. I think as a follow up she should try training lions. it might have a happy ending :)

  • THAT BORDER COLLIE IS SCARED OF HER!

my border collie is smaller then that

at 00:54 he looked away and feebly wagged his tail.

my dog only ever does that when he's in trouble

    and has been scolded badly.

She is a bad dog trainer, owner and everything else.

  • Give the lady a break. She's had the good will to share her knowledge.

  • How could this lady gives so many reasons for her obvious failure...

  • Comment removed

  • Funny, I've owned NINE Border Collies and none of them acted that way toward me or any other trainer. Looking away is NOT a typical Border Collie characteristic. GETTING AWAY from this stupid trainer IS, however. Expert Village? More like Expert Village IDIOT!

  • A Border Collie is a VERY focused dog, and will focus on their handlers no matter what is going on. They were bred to be commanded to do things, so they are constantly looking to their owners for the next cue. Bubbles looks scared to me, pulling on the leash, and her tail tucked in.

  • "Imaginary sheep"? The only thing Bubbles is imagining is getting to a competent trainer!

  • With all those excuses this is not the place to demonstrate ones ability or lack of as a trainer.Embarrassing!

  • O_o You have to start without distractions and food the dog actually likes if you're ever gonna achieve anything...
