Does Dillon no longer supply the two return springs for the powder charge bar. The weight of the powder measure body, lid and powder fill is returning the charge bar w/o the springs... Part number 548
Hmm you need to lube the cases for pistols? I am considering moving from my Lee Classic Turret to a 650 for greater speed, I never lube my cases, I don't even own case lube. Is this a neccessary step for using a dillon?
hi i was wondering if you could answer a question for me. i have a dillon xl650 and i am reloading 9mm. my powder measure sticks on the up stroke and kind of makes the shellplate shake and make some powder fall out. would you know what my problems is?? i can make a video of it for you.
why would you have a dillon 650 and be reloading for a taurus 1911? wow! just bustin your balls but if it were me I'd step up and get something other than a taurus! nice video! Thanks for posting.
@velodemon While we are ball busting, why would you pay $1000 more for something little more functional than some other weapon? Overcompensation for something? I carry a PT145 that has never, ever, ever failed with any ammo. Like me, it is not pretty, but it has a 10 round 45acp mag and is easily concealed. I leave my 1911's at home. BTW, one of them is a Taurus, also.
So which do you like more? this one or the Lee Loadmaster or the Hornady LNL-AP? and which press would say is your favorite and which do you think is the best one? I am wanting to get a press to reload 45 ACPs. Price doesnt matter too much but which do you feel is best for the money? thanks a lot :)
Nice vid! Please share your edit and upload settings because the clarity is spot on.
I have 2 XL650s, they have served me well for many years. I actually prefer the Dillon dies because they have flared die mouths and easy with open die tops. I play it safe and use case gauges to check my cartridge specs. Dillon case lube is good stuff, I discovered you can cheaply duplicate it by using anhydrous lanolin mixed into 100% denatured alcohol.
After years of abuse from my friends already who have one.. I finally got my xl650. Completly differnt world coming from 15 years on a single stage, But a welcome expirence. thanks for the Vid as I am too using "other than Dillon Dies" for 45.
What was the powder charge you were using? I love the 200gr FP. I also use Unique and Ranier heads for indoor ranges, and a LFP for outdoors. Nicely done video. Any chance you can put together a really nice video of the caliber conversion procedure? Well done. I love my 650.
Nice vid. and for MRFASTROPER. The 1st party is the manufacturer, the 3rd party is one that makes after market products which work with the 1st party product. The 2nd party is you. The customer...
I am looking to buy this bad boy, but had a question on which dye sets to go with. What is the reason for going 3rd party Hornady vs. staying with Dillon?
I see you invested you money into a machine and not into your gun. :) Only kidding, (but not really). Great video. I am going to have to get one now, (XL 650, not a Taurus). :)
robbs271t: the most likely reason that you are spilling powder after the handle is down is because right about the time that the handle goes down the case holder moves forward and shakes the cases which if the cases are pretty full will cause you to spill some kernals of powder. I have seen that you can cut one of the strands of the spring to slow down the speed with which the case holder goes forward. I hope this helps.
Quick question: I have the XL650, but I seem to lose a few power particulars on each stroke. Can't seem to find the solution to the power loss. Anyone have an answer.
Actually, the few kernels of power fall after the case is charges and when the ram is back down to the lower position. The case charge is accurate which is nice, but when doing a great deal of cases, it makes a mess.
@robbs271t the problem is the detent spring. cut one loop off it, stops the shell plate from snapping into position and shaking some powder out. Old comment i know...but thats the issues.
Consider getting a case gage

What is the press mounted to? It appears to be steel. Dimensions and how it's mounted/anchored would be nice.
Thanks

Nice job on the video. Check out my (admittedly more amateur) videos on reloading with the Lee Classic Cast. I'm going to do some more in the future.

Why call it 3rd party? Wouldn't it just be a 2nd party, i.e. 2nd brand? I don't get it. Please enlighten me. Cool vid by the way man. Thanks.

@tdo79 I use Lee Dies in my 650 because they are best value for the buck. I've had my 650 for six years. Nothing beats it.

I don't really get what you are saying. How much is the press with the case feeder.
jkatz44 2 years ago
Where did you get this press and where is it the cheapest?
jkatz44 2 years ago
does the case feeder come with the XL 650?
jkatz44 2 years ago
It comes with the "lower parts" meaning that you can manually fill the tube to load that many without inserting manually.
The upper portion (with bowl, motor, etc) you buy separately, but its only about $200.

Bob- what caliber are you loading? Sounds like there's not a great seal between the brass and the drop tube/expander.
