  • i don't see how they can't go ten seconds without having to praze their lord when other cultures would not be mentioned. the US is becoming a Theocracy it seems and the bad thing is if that happens then and they make a push to ban other beliefs people seeking religious freedom have no where to go. america is becoming what the founders of this country fled from, though in a sense native Americans were truly the first but still. i feel sorry for Damon having to go threw that.

  • Christians are despicable. They really, truly are.

  • @werebee Not all of them.

  • 30 seconds in and I already subscribed, awesome

  • @kingjacko302 Welcome!

  • Impressed, in awe, subscribed.

Very nicely done, and I hope you don't live in Louisiana, for your own sake!

  • subscribed

  • @TheM1GHTYCOKE Welcome to the party.

  • Awsome video

  • Indeed, well said, and bravo to you, sir.

  • Fuck America, I'm gonna go to England or France where at least half the people there share my beliefs.

  • Couldn't have been said better. I applaud you, good sir.

  • well done, well done.

  • Damon is such a good name.

  • Damon is such a good name.

  • The worst apart about these types of people is that they are so ignorant they don't even see the vanity in them praising their god in public. We all know they aren't doing it for god. They are doing it to look good. For themselves. This and assholes telling us they will "pray for us" for whatever fucked up reason when I KNOW they will not do this. Fucking liars. Constant lying and too ignorant to even know they are doing it.

  • @Reip187 They are just lazy. This is what they are really saying: "I COULD help you, but I don't want to. I will tell you that I am praying for you so I won't look like such a heartless asshole, and others will think I am righteous. I don't even really pray, least of all for the people I say I will pray for. I pray for free shit, and to get out of trouble. If people are around I pray for the poor, sick, or thank god for ths fucking food that was made and prepared by men and give them no credit."

  • "They respected the majority of their classmates and didn't say anything." Silence isn't respect, lady.

  • wtf happened to the separation of church and state?

  • @DeathnoteBB Ignorance. It took the ideas of the founding fathers and twisted the very core of the constitution.

  • Awesome video.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance I think he's yelling at Texas :P Anyway great vid. Really shows how hypocritical and self-righteous Christians are.

  • If graduates want a religious service, have a separate one at a church or something. That's what my school did.

  • those intolerant bigots need to go die.

thank you for posting a video about this.

  • WHY the hoodie??? (dark matter, i suppose)

  • @gggreggg I think he has to stay anonymous to keep his job as a teacher, or something like that.

  • I loved your point about people getting up on the podium and praising all sorts of gods. In reality at a bible thumping school like this pathetic one I bet all the people would be booing and yelling: "BLASPHEMY" at someone who praised Allah or Zeus. What a load of loony hypocrites.

  • Well, if there were no such thing as the religious south, Europe wouldn't think we were morons anymore.

  • <---- successfully used Matthew:6 to shut someone up who thinks it's ok for there to be prayer in public schools. Thank you sir.

  • Awesome video man! you raised some great points. I wonder how they would react to anything to do with Cthulu...

  • Well said, looks like America hasn't learned from the Civil Rights Movement :,(

  • I could not agree with your more sir, when I heard of this I was disgusted even my mom who was raised catholic was disgusted. However my mom is smart, she follows her own beliefs of God cause she knows the bible has been tampered with over history unlike some people who take it too literally when they really have no idea what it meant from the very beginning. People shouldn't have any right to shove their beliefs down other's throats especially on Graduation. I wish Damon Fowler the best.

  • Bastrop High School, where this took place, is actually in Texas. I don't want to bash another state, but I want to bash the majority.

It is people like you who don't give a f**k about the Constitution, this country, or the people who live here. They once fought against this country for the right to own other people as property. Lincoln should have just watched as their cotton/farming economy fell to the ground, but he didn't. This is how you repay him? You are sick, twisted, evil people.

  • @MunkyDrag0n I'm a bit unclear as to who you're yelling at here.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance I want to bash people like the students and faculty of Bastrop High who think they get to do whatever they want.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance Im pretty sure he was talking about bastrop high.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance

    I think it's texans.

  • @ArsonistInUrFirewall Both sources below clearly state this event occurred in Bastrop, LA.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance

Still he/she is clearly talking about texas.

I am referring to the comment by MunkyDrag0n,

(It is an easy mistake to make, because there is another Bastrop high in texas)

  • PS- Both sources below clearly state this event occurred in Bastrop, LA.

  • @MunkyDrag0n its actually in louisiana, i graduated from there the same day and i supported the prayer

  • @alholm3s Did you support what they did to him?

  • the end of that speech was fucking excellent.

  • Everytime I heard that bitch say that she "respects other people's beliefs" I had to say "FUCK YOU".

I'm sorry but that was a bold faced lie. she'd have gladly sacrificed her fellow student to lions or a fate worse than what the early Christians faced and still pretend she was the "persecuted" one. That's what's so fucking crazy about these people, it's reminding me of George Orwell's 1984...

  • GLORY TO THE ASA! GLORY TO ODIN! GLORY TO THOR! GLORY TO IÐUN! GLORY TO FREYA!

All true believers will dine in Valhalla and/or Vanaheim!

    Vikings ftw.

  • It also bothers me how In public schools they teach that Jesus definatley absolutely existed and I was tested on it and so was everyone else when In fact there is 0 evidence of jesus' existence

Church and state are not really separate and I got laughed at by my Christian teacher for saying this

Also why is the state regulating marrige if church and state are separate?

  • im an atheist but if someone had prayed to the greek gods they would be my new best friend

  • i cant go on without giving glory to my lord satan oh what a great man he is no im just fuckin around im an atheist but i would totally say that to a christian just to make them flip

  • "To censor only the religious viewpoints is intolerant and unconstitutional," he continued. "Students should not be bullied by the ACLU to give up their constitutional rights." - Anyone see the irony in this? Here let me change just a few words...

"To censor only the non-religious viewpoints is intolerant and unconstitutional," "Students should not be bullied by the religious to give up their constitutional rights."

  • would love to see "I just can't go on without giving glory to.... THE DARK LORD CTHULU!!!"

  • I agree Public Schools shouldn't have religion. Go to a Catholic or Christian school.

I'm a Christian, and I keep my beliefs to my self.

  • That was very well said. I didn't see it as a big problem at first but you got me to see things your way and now I understand why it's so important.

  • Something humorous about this video.

From 2:45 on. You're eyes are glowing. You look like a Jawa. No offense intended, I just noticed it.

  • GREAT VIDEO! Im Catholic, that said I agree with you 100 percent! It makes me laugh to see that 3 people don't like this video. Listen here you 3 people, MAJORITY RULES! So to you 3 people, shut up, don't speak your mind, and go buy an I LOVE BOOBIES BRACELET! Cuz thats what all the cool kids are doing :) p.s. posted vid on facebook, gj!!!!

  • what i did was i asked to walk out when they prayed

  • If Christian logic of majority rule was applicable then,

    1. The world should have been flat.

    2. Slavery should have been legal.

    3. The Chinese and many other 'undesirable' races should have been deported.

    4. Hitler should have been applauded.

    5. The middle east should have been blown off the face of this Earth.

  • well said

  • Kuddos on this video !!.

American christians are no different than the Taliban--

If the United States law would allow - christians would be burning everyone that they did not agree with their views and justify it.

Of course I am going to get responses saying that they would never do that- Bullshit ! the 'fact' that you are willing to believe stupidity -means-that you are willing to 'do' stupidity.

Right atmosphere/right time christians would find a way to reason "genocide" and call it 'holy'

  • @Dionysus5252

"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit attrocities"

    --Voltaire

  • holy fuck its a dementor

  • I can't get over how well you worded this entire video.

Fucking bravo sir, and well done.

Shared on Facebook. You earned it.

  • @TheHairline Thank you- I think this is the sort of thing a lot of people need to hear about.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance Actually that verse from the bible is Matthew 6:6:5, not trying to troll because i love your videos

  • @msbrandonking What do you mean? It's Matthew, chapter 6, verse 5. Look it up- it's cited word for word in the annotation here.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance are you fucking retarded obviosly i was kidding you 6-6-5 would be backwards

it was a joke you fucking asswhole

  • @msbrandonking A. It wasn't funny.

    B. It wasn't presented in a way that seemed humorous.

    C. Even if it was funny, someone not getting your joke doesn't make that person an "asswhore."

  • @GrapplingIgnorance but you didn't have to be a jerk about it. the way you responded to the first message was retaliation as if i said something offensive in my first message.

  • @msbrandonking All I did was ask what you meant, and directed you to the proper passage. I don't see that as being a jerk.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance the way you worded your sentence gave off the impression that you were insulted.

  • Don't you just love how Christians keep failing at playing the victim?

  • Hey, when did the grim reaper get a youtube channel???

I always knew death was a white guy!

  • Just shared this on my facebook page. People need to hear this.

  • @MrShannonite Thank you- hopefully they do.

  • Truly moving. Thank you so much for making this video

  • @Dragonson145 Certainly, thank you for watching.

  • Christian people astonish me.

  • I wouldnt have gone as far as Damon Fowler. I would have simply prayed to Satan how he has freed me from the most evil being in the universe AKA Yahweh. It would have pissed everyone off just like the prayer would have pissed me off. "Lets us pray as i cannot go on without pushing my bullshit on everyone else. I thank you satan for bringing all these hypocrites upon me. May their god be vengeful and burn them all in hell for the lulz as gods will is to own noobs. Amen."

  • @mucura1 I certainly agree with your sentiment, but the trouble with that particular approach is that it would lead to the already existing and retarded misconception that atheists actually worship the devil.

  • Don't forget giving glory to Lucifer or Satan or the Devil.

  • Great video! Three thumbs up! (That should confuse christians for awhile.)

  • I wonder how they would react when there was a Muslim who shouted "Allahu akbar!" in the moment of silence.

  • Great video, man! Just saw a video on the same issue by DarkMatter. It's beyond a shame that Damon had to live through this when He was right.

I also like your point about students from other religions taking the stage. I am appalled by the level of immaturity and bias displayed by the journalists that covered the story and the so-called teachers.

He is the only to disagree. He has to be wrong.

What a LAUGHABLE, yet VERY CRUEL way of thinking.

I wish there were a way to write to the school

  • @america8877 Try googling Bastrop High school, Louisiana. Most schools have a web site with an address.

  • stupid people, stupid opinions

  • Just watched it. Fair enough, Grappling. I've had similar experiences at the school where I've taught. Good on ya for coming back.

  • Very cool. I'm sure you've addressed this elsewhere, but I wish you showed your face.

  • @antonahill I don't see why it's important that my face be seen, but if you're curious as to why, it's explained here: /watch?v=i8ivrcVSdaM

  • @GrapplingIgnorance I don't know that it's •important•, but then I wonder why they aren't all voiceovers. I'll check out the explanation.

  • Ok, listen I later admitted that damon fowler did the right thing, so please no hate. I now admire him and see him as a hero. Ok

  • Graduation ceremonies would last way too long if everyone decided to stand up and pray to their personal deity of their choice. The moment of silence was very appropriate. By NOT praying to 1 deity you are being fair to everyone. People can choose to pray or not pray to whomever.

  • Kudos my friend. Kudos.

  • OF COURSE the religious are the victims in this scenario. They're not getting the rights they think they deserve! I mean, obviously not being able to shove their beliefs down our throats and tell us either to shut up or die is an act against their religious freedom, right? .....Right?

  • Praise Odin! Or else: ZANTETSUKEN.

  • Damon Fowler is a brave kid!

  • what is that schools email?

  • Amen brother!

  • Brilliant, logical video.

    *stands and applauds*

  • I feel bad for Damon Fowler. For simply standing up for himself, he gets screwed over big time, by his school, by his classmates, by his community, and most importantly, by his *parents*! And all these people no doubt see themselves in their minds as simply "good Christians". Woe unto you people of Bastrop, fucking hypocrites!

  • @Akira625 While he lost the support of his family and "friends", Damon Fowler has now gained the support of atheists the world around. I do feel for him, but I wish I had the support he is getting now. :)

  • Hey, hey, hey buddy: subscribed. Boop!

  • Agreed, sir. Agreed.

  • I wish someone would have had the state of mind, if not Damon Fowler, at the time of graduation to recite THE ENTIRE PRAYER at that graduation. Hypocrisy and priests and synagogues all. That would have been epic.

That they went ahead and still had that prayer, though, at the graduation, is appalling. It didn't do with ostracizing another human being from their own community, for something that shouldn't be performed in the first place, but they had to do it IN HIS FACE to boot? That is cruel.

  • I'm totally subbed now. U speak clearly & intelligently. Way 2 go.

  • A Xenu prayer would be pretty impressive. If those people know the scientologists reputation theyd probably shut up about it.

  • You look like a black mage from Final Fantasy in this video. Pretty chill.

On topic, though, I got here from DarkMatter's video, and thought this one was equally good in completely different ways.

Unfortunately, I went to a private school, so I had no real choice about having a prayer at my graduation. God, that made me unhappy.

    Wait.

    What?

  • Preach, brother, preach!!!

  • Yea im atheist and have done ''religion'' in school for all my life ... it is my favorite .. where else do i get to see people of faith be demolished by simple logic questions ... its just priceless.

  • Great points. You my friend just picked up another sub. Thanks. Keep up the great work.

  • Hypocrites.

  • Do you wear glasses?

  • @mopoc7 Why?

  • @GrapplingIgnorance I just feel like you do, and i'm curious. So... do you?

  • @GrapplingIgnorance Because you sound so sexy :D

  • @mopoc7 I think it is the reflection of some piercing!

  • @iamfrancisittv Aight

  • @Grapplingignorance you're right. That girl does not need to shout out to the entire school. She could have praised god in silence. This was not nessicary.

  • @GuitarFisherman2112 It's not a matter of what people can do- it's a matter of what people should do, and if the situation is being approached fairly. You could say that if every one of those students can't sit through a little prayer to Satan, Allah, Thor, and Zeus, then THEY have problems- but should they have to? Is a public school even the place for it?

  • @GrapplingIgnorance Prayer doesnt belong in public school just as fact doesnt belong in organised religion

    Superintendent Chalmers

  • @GuitarFisherman2112

The point is you should not be forced to. If your belief is that no god exists then it should not be expected of you to actually pledge to god, right?

Do you not see the hypocrite part of freedom of religion and speech i you are expected to actually swear before god?

  • @GuitarFisherman2112 Then your a spineless pussy.

  • @GuitarFisherman2112 that sounds like something a slave would say.

  • @GuitarFisherman2112 Good for you? I guess. I am sorry you don't have the principles that Damon did to stand up against what is wrong. I am also sorry you feel that since you could 'tolerate' religion that the rest of us should have to. Personally I do not want to have to tolerate it.

  • @GuitarFisherman2112 you are not agnostic you are afraid god exists but not dumb enough to just believe. Liberty ends where some else's begins. I am personally offended by prayer, for various cultural reasons. I tolerate religious people, but I don't think everyone should just because I do.

  • @Mscindybo he has to. For fear of losing his job. long story

  • @MsCindybo If you want him to show his face, show yours. :)

  • @MsCindybo My support for someone or opinions on an issue have nothing to do with what I look like.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance you sound pretty :D

  • @MsCindybo Learn to type english when you get older and come back here.

  • @MsCindybo Look up Darkmatter2525's video "Grappling Ignorance"

That will explain it quite nicely.

  • @MsCindybo He used to show his face, but not now. He's personally experienced the blowback from all the crappy christian hypocrites who can't remotely follow their own deity's instructions. Simply being an open atheist almost cost him his livelihood as many self-proclaimed "christians" cannot accept an open atheist in their midst, and find they MUST retaliate and attempt to hurt him any way they can get away with. In his case, it was a concerted attempt to get him fired from his job.

  • @MsCindybo if you believe in god so much, Y R U SO RETARDED?????? Oh, duh, sorry guys, my bad; Q.E.D.

  • @MsCindybo "if u support him so much, WHY R U HIDING UR FACE??????"

I believe the story goes he faced major discrimination in his work place because of his position on religion. The fact that he has to hide his face is all the more reason why the first amendment needs to be recognized.

  • @MsCindybo lol. it's because he's actually satan in disguise and doesn't want the christians to catch on to the atheist's evil plot to remind everyone of the separation of church and state.

  • @MsCindybo Mainly because he underwent similar discrimination by theists.

  • I'm offended that they didn't give glory to my god-The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

  • The religious do not understand what freedom of religion is. That means not believing, and that is not a threat. It just is. How can a God be offended my someone as simple as me? If I can offend your god, you need a cooler god.

  • This is your only video I have thumbed down, for the reasons below.

  • Mathew D Staver was right about students being able to express opinions, if you have a problem with that, you are wrong.

The words you said the girl who led the prayer said included nothing about feeling as though her rights are violated. It was inappropriate to change the official content of the moment of silence, but it is no worse than any other disobedience.

As far as I'm concerned the atheist and the school both acted appropriately, and the girl's inappropriateness was minor.

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 So you would be good with me spearing a guy for my graduation if i was a Norseman? What if i was a worshiper of Quazlequat or what ever his name is? Could i cut someones heart out? What if i worshiped Zeus and i slaughtered a white bull? Its a public school and no religious activity should be in that school if the students want to do it in private then do so but not at a giant public event. If that school had one thousand students of

  • @yuo252 Spearing a guy would be a violation of his rights. Saying what you believe, even if it's bat-shit crazy, is not. It is inappropriate for a school to sanction a religion, but not an individual, and the school can't help what she said.

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 No, but it's not like she was giving a speech, and slipped in that she believes in God. Stating what you believe and leading a public school assembly in prayer are two different things- especially when it was specifically removed from the agenda for the right reasons. No, the school can't help what someone mentions in a speech (though they can discipline the speaker for it) but they could have stopped the public prayer, rather than let it go on.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance you're still one of my favorite youtubers

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 What if in my religion i had to whip my gentiles out at every major event or i would go to some kind of hell? Would i have a right to do that? What if i had to read an entire holy book at every major event? Its a high school graduation an event that is normally very boring and stressful. I doubt any of then wanted to hear some idiot spit out there religious speech even if most of them shared her beliefs. What if i was a satanist who had to light a cross on fire in every

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 Major event? Religious freedom is irrelevant in a public area if this was a Christian private school go ahead but this was a public school. And yes the school could of gotten her down as the school board already chose to add a moment of silence instead of a prayer.

  • zeus and jupiter are the same.

I don't give a damn about 1 girl said in her own personal speech. If one starts to draw lines for what one can say in a personal speech, where does one stop? The constitution does not say that individuals can't express their opinions. The school didn't plan it and that's all that matters.

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 Zeus and Jupiter go by different names based on Greek and Roman mythology, and one could say the same of Yahweh and Allah, but it's a complete non-sequitur.

The point here is that the girl does not deserve to be revered as a hero for behaving on the whims of an overwhelming majority to deliberately defy a minority who's clearly in the right. Some acts of civil disobedience I consider valid, others I do not. I disagree with this act for the reasons stated in the video.

  • @AllOtherNamesTaken2 She was supposed to be leading a moment of silence. I'd say she stepped pretty far outside the bounds of a moment of silence when she opened her yap. Just...fyi.

  • You're awesome when you're angry.

  • @GrapplingIgnorance I completely agree with you on this one. Personally I'm getting really sick and tired of religious asshats forcing their screwed up, disgusting fairy tales down the throats of others, then whining that their rights are being "violated" when asked to obey the law. It seriously sickens me

  • Reasons like this is makes it hard not to be anti religious.

  • Hey man, i saw darkmatter2525's video and i just wanted to say that that story truly angers me...I hope that you can do better for yourself in the future. cheers mate.

  • Zeus or Horus? What about Satan?

  • @aman57 +1, and lets throw in hilter whorship, aka Nazi/Neo-Nazi/whatever. lol I bet them christians would throw a fit for sure.

  • Intolerance of Christians and their freedoms shows us to be just as ignorant. I do not condone school staff promoting or encouraging the advancement of Christianity but I do condone the freedom of speech. With out this freedom we are all slaves to the government.

  • Exclusion of students who wish to speak on religion would be unfair and biased, as would exclusion of students who wish to speak on atheism.

A graduation ceremony may not be the time to speak about such things but, as it goes Christians believe their god has granted them the ability to learn and want to give thanks. There must be some tolerance between both sides for us to communicate and make changes.

  • We must only limit what is being portrayed as the correct religion by the government body itself. To mute a student from speaking their belief while at a school function, is removing one of their freedoms, as they are forced to attend. So it goes for graduation ceremonies as well.

Abolishing a students ability to speak and pray at graduation is removal of freedom based solely on religious preference.

  • One point: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;

While the ceremony was sponsored and planned by a government body, those taking part in the ceremony aren't necessarily a part of the planning committee.

As people are required by law to attend school, we can not keep them from speaking about their religion while in attendance of functions regarding that schooling.

  • That graduation ceremony also turned into a rodeo. Cheers, screams of approval, it made me wonder, what have those students learned in their history classrooms. With 100% approval, the Constitution was flushed down the toilet. Talk about a shitty education.

  • Besides, Jesus warned about making prayer a public spectacle.

  • Well then, you miss the whole point of the education system, now don't you? It is not meant to enlighten or inspire creativity. It is merely meant to be a glorified daycare factory that churns out worker bee products. Sad, but true. Once the education system is reformed (ha ha ha, that was a good one), then it's mission will be to actually TEACH. Until then, it will be business as usual and religion is a great tool for churning out products so it will stay too.

  • You have a lot of rage; it is truly beautiful. Your rage is fueled by an overwhelming sense of justice and truth. Your mind is keen and your tongue is sharp. You're kind of like Conan the Barbarian, only you slaughter your opponents with sound logic and solid arguments.

  • yo i'm sorry to interrupt but i can't go on without giving glory to zues yo

  • @breathicy You are not a true Zeus worshipper, if you spell his name wrong.

  • @MsPureFiction007

Krishna looks a little like a woman, that might do =P

  • Yea, that is pretty messed up.

  • Perfectly put, though I fear at no point in my lifetime will America ever stop promoting the mass makes right mentality. It would derail the foundation of marketing and politics and it is more effective for our elected leadership to foster blind conformity and minority
