I think it's a shame that all the comments are about "how fun it is to watch dis movie high". They completely miss the point the film was trying to get across, about where exactly the fire that burned in the 60's went? Sure, there was some fucked up and funny scenes, but I feel the Wave Speech was the best part of the movie.

And what he is trying to get across is that you can go up on a steep hill in las vegas(anywhere) and with the right kind of eyes, you can see where the wave broke and rolled back... i saw and Felt where the wave rolled back even though i was born in the 90's... the right kind of eyes being high.and the understanding... very inspirational speech by one of the best writers in history

The weirdest part is when I realized what he was talking about in the flashback, and at the end of the movie. The sixties were just one big trip, everyone thinking they were the right ones, that they were winning, when in reality, almost everyone was wrong, and the realization of this drove people insane. They had to find the american dream, so they could be right once again, so they started becoming selfish. They worked for themselves, worried about themselves, and gambled for themselves.
