Always been a fan of this film. One film I've seen recently isn't as surrealistic as but I like the way it represents addiction. Nice film called puncture
Hi There! lol, love this film. First time I saw it, I didn't remember it. The second time I saw it, I was geeking on 2C-P. Fantastic film. Pretty deep as well.
I watched this movie when it came out, i was about 11years old.. didn't get it. But now after i have taken LSD a few times.. Whole another story! Hehee .. Great film btw
Some part of this movie braught to my mind Jackass-movies... Like taking acid and signing in a hotel, Dr. Gonzo vomiting over the side of the car and telling he's a vietnam vet...
This movie had "cult classic" written all over it from the very beginning. Johnny Depp fans, people who came of age in the 60s and early 70s, fans of drugs and those who know Las Vegas will love this film. How in the hell can anyone do that much dope and still live ?
surely i wasnt so fukd watching this movie every time.... am i dreaming or are there deleted scenes in this trailer? "never missed a plane" doesnt look familiar to me.....?
every time i do a new drug i pop in good ol' fear an loathing, and every time i watch it i find something i haven't seen the last 10000000 times i've watched it. insanely beautiful movie.
This is apperently from the same era as Of Mice and Men ....this is a lot more fun! Wish we could do this book for Eng. Lit. rather than John Steinbeck....
@megumi089 - it was written by the same guy at the same sort of time - Hunter S. Thompson. He is a complete genius and ive read every single one of his books.....
"we had two bags of grass 75 pellets of mescaline five sheets of high-powered blotter acid...a salt shaker half-full of cocaine...a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers.also a quart of tequila,a quart of rum,a case of beer"......xDD
@bijoubijou Not at all, the Hangover was a story about 4 guys getting obliterated before a wedding and trying to find each other after getting separated. Fear and loathing in Las Vegas is about a journey across America to find the American Dream. two totally different concepts.
@bijoubijou Not exactly, Hangover was about a group of average people trying to get through a fucked up situation, this is about two average people trying to lose themselves to it.
I think it's a shame that all the comments are about "how fun it is to watch dis movie high". They completely miss the point the film was trying to get across, about where exactly the fire that burned in the 60's went? Sure, there was some fucked up and funny scenes, but I feel the Wave Speech was the best part of the movie.
@ThatDisembodiedVoice fuck you, you savage henry this is a story about finding the american dream. the only way to enjoy this beast of a movie is on an extreme dosage of some criminalized substance not analyze it like some Lacerda loving bastard.
@ThatDisembodiedVoice the wave crested and panned out as the generation got older- just the way it is- Once ppl started having kids the energy petered out and its a good thing too. I'm not sure anybody would've like what would have come of it had it continued
@ThatDisembodiedVoice Very Very true, But i also think you miss the point, Ive seen this movie High and not High... And what he is trying to get across is that you can go up on a steep hill in las vegas(anywhere) and with the right kind of eyes, you can see where the wave broke and rolled back... i saw and Felt where the wave rolled back even though i was born in the 90's... the right kind of eyes being high.and the understanding... very inspirational speech by one of the best writers in history
@ThatDisembodiedVoice Don't get your misleading feelings out just because you've never experience things we have. It feels better watching high that's all it matters sheep.
I doubt people who think this is a druggie movie ever watched it.Sure they do drugs but really its about the death of 60s ideals and there replacement with greed and hedonism.Really its like when people call scarface a gangster movie.
"All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours, too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped to create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody-or at least some force-is tending that Light at the end of the tunnel"-
I hate all these comments about getting Stoned when watching this. You end up completely missing the point of this movie. It's not a Stoner flick, sure it has surreal imagery and pretty colors, but there's actually a message to it.
@banana2514 OOHH MAI GAWD i just bought the movie and havent watched it yet either, my friends and I are planning a stoner night JUST to watch this movie! hope its a good idea
Watching this movie on acid makes you understand exacly what he is going through.. its pretty awesome tbh.. maybe not while peaking tho.. on the afterglow
I am just going to say this: First, this is definitely one of the best movies ever!! Second, This is Johnny Depp's best role, in my honest opinion! And third, THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING UNDERRATED!!!....

The weirdest part is when I realized what he was talking about in the flashback, and at the end of the movie. The sixties were just one big trip, everyone thinking they were the right ones, that they were winning, when in reality, almost everyone was wrong, and the realization of this drove people insane. They had to find the american dream, so they could be right once again, so they started becoming selfish. They worked for themselves, worried about themselves, and gambled for themselves.
The money spent for this movie should go to starving
