  • yay! i just played this last semester for my juries! and ill be playing it again in the fall for recital hour. its a realllly difficult piece (hindemith is meannnn) and you played very nicely!

i have a question, i'm in dire need of a new clarinet, do you have any suggestions??

  • @mirandaaa1646 Hey sorry I missed this! (by the way, this is my other YouTube account, but I promise I'm the same person) For clarinets, most people I know in the US play Buffet Crampon model R13, but there are people who are die-hard Selmer fans and others who love their Rossis. Rossis have a rather long wait list because they're all handmade, and I hear that once you get used to a Selmer it's hard to switch to anything else. I like my R13, though. Basically, you've got lots of choices ;)

  • Steve, your playing is truly great. I love your tone; very rounded and smooth. Don't let unconstructive criticism get to you.

  • A mistake in the bar before figure 3, the triplet should be D F D.

  • @roseeast1 I don't understand why you would leave such a needlessly critical comment. So I missed some notes. That happens in performance.

  • @roseeast1 You do realise everyone makes mistakes...

  • @roseeast1 Oh come on, no positive comments for our lovely Steve? Fine. I will make up for it.

  • @roseeast1 A mistake in your comment after figure 3; the punctuation should be a semicolon.

  • great playing! :)

  • Great job...good control on the dynamics, technique and range. Tone is beautiful

  • Wow, this is really amazing. Such amazing tone!

  • you're amazing! It makes me want to dust off my old calrinet :)

  • wow... this is really nice! I like that you put performances on the tubez :)

  • I love the clarinet! I play it too :D

How long have you been playing?

  • about 8-10 years, I think... not entirely sure :)

  • wow your cheeks must hurt after this! Loved it ;) The music...not the hurting part!

  • this is impressive Steve, great job!

  • =D

(One question: do you need to record these for class or do you do it just for yourself/for fun?)

  • I mostly record them so that I can watch and hear myself, because it sounds much different from the outside than while playing. Also, this is a nice way to send the videos to family, as I'm far away from home and they don't ever get to hear me perform :D

  • Pssht, easy peasy :P haha

I do say this in jest btw

  • Your skills are amazing to watch and listen too.
