  • Whats the limit on mallards over there?

  • @decoycarver17 It changes according to the season and the number of the ducks ,from 20 ducks few years ago to last year i think it was 8 birds.

  • @waikarimoana Thanks. Is 8 birds total or just 8 mallards? Do you have many gray ducks and paradise ducks in your area?

  • @decoycarver17 No that number was just for mallards on top of that is parries, and the rest.

we have a good number of guys and now we have a lot of Canadian gees.

You have a good one mate.

  • @waikarimoana Thanks for the Info. I am some what of a duck collector and iu would like to come over some day. If you folks are ever in the California and would like to try a bear hunt my dad is a guide. Have a good one and good hunting.

  • @decoycarver17 Thanks mate,we have some very good mounted duck of different spices, the only duck at this stage that are not on the license are Blue ducks native to NZ and only live in a very fast, turbulent waters of rivers and creeks. Thanks again mate.

  • @waikarimoana Are New Zealand scaup on the lisence? Thanks again.

  • @decoycarver17 No mate all the migratory birds are not on the license,we have millions of them going home to USSR and other places and on the way they stop in NZ for refueling and charging the batteries to fly home. They stay here about 2 weeks and off they go,home sweet home.

  • @waikarimoana Thanks again. I really wnat one of those shovelers mounted. They look like a cross between a spoonie and a blue wing teal.

  • @decoycarver17 You are absolutely right, after a long time i manged to get one,i must say it is a beauty.

On the next episode of duck hunting, i will take a shot of it and upload it so you can see it.

  • guys, you know alot about ammunition. how can i send ammunitions oversease?

  • @mawadg Well it is becoming harder and harder as you can guess, now you have to have an export license from NZ police and whoever is getting it should have an import license for the ammos. It has to be send on special shipping parcel and handled by a registered cargo agent. Now if it is in local i mean N.Z. then your gun shop can arrange that for you,Hope all that was helpful mate.

  • good stuff boys, next season hit up some more spots if you can and get in some layoutblinds shooting those geese. awesome videos though guys.

  • @NzDuckShooter Yes mate we will try good shooting for next years, have good one.

  • You don't muck around eh...I'll say!

Thats a pretty awesome haul you guys got there...harvest of champions.

Interesting that you cull anything that may prey on your hatchlings...pretty smart...I've not heard of that before.

2 of the last 3 years we have had Mallards Mate and hatch their ducklings at the ponds in our Open Face Mine at work...and day after day the numbers would go down from predators.

    Great show Guys.

I shoot a Remington Model 1100 for ducks...what about you?

    Thumbs up

  • @anavidhunter Good day Kyle, yes she is awesome she has survived 3 seasons and we pray for her to come back again. She fights with any ducks that come close to her duckings and she feed very little herself.About the guns well mate,Remington is the one for us my son shots Remington 870 express magnum and me and Ross shot with one gun and that is Remington 1187 nice gun all auto and we still miss most of them.HAHAHa,Beat regards Tony.

  • @waikarimoana Thats pretty nice...hope she makes it back for more.

My cousin shoots an 870 wingmaster, and your 1187 is a modern version of my 1100 auto...yours has a vented rib and shoots larger shells...mine only chambers 2 3/4 inch shells...but I still like it...though I'd love to get a 3 or 3 1/2 inch gun too.

Good adventures to you and yours!

  • @anavidhunter Yes mate dead right,1187 takes 3 inch shells and steel shots,in NZ it has been few years that all waterfowl be shot with steel, some like it and some don't and the argument or better said (discussion)can go on for ever.My son is a top shot gun man and he loves his REM.870,but i can't use it as i shoot the first shot i fail to pump and chamber the second and all the time he shots"pup it up pap pump it up" and to no avail.HAHAHa as they say mate it is hard to teach an old dog.

  • @waikarimoana We stop shooting lead shot for waterfowl over 15 yrs ago...I think since 1995 had to shoot steel. We have other choices we can use...like: Bismuth and Tungsten...but they are more expensive than steel so most people use steel.

I find steel works ok...it does fly and impact different tho. I think many people like to use 3 inch or better shells...but I can tell you first hand that I've been out shot by a guy with a 20 gauge, so the "hunter" is most important.

    Thats funny Tony :D

  • @anavidhunter Yes mate,it is the one behind the gun,be it shotgun or rifle or bow and arrow,Talking a bout bow hunting i just watched you last video of bear hunt it was awesome,i had to go to the dentist to adjust my upper plate, and the wife was waiting for me to drive me there and was saying hurry up boy,but i had to watch your video right to the end, well done mate.
