  • Eye-opening...this is so cool and enlightening. thanks Doug.

  • Thanks for the help, what a really great bloke and fantastic guitarist you really are. Cheers

  • funny thing about this lick is that its an old Van halen lick from Van halen 1. Eddie does this stuff all over the place. I guess Brad "borrowed" it and put it in a country context

  • Best country guitar instructor I've seen. You are a great player and very generous with your top class insights.

  • You make it look so easy lol

Gary from West coast of Oregon. Youtube has done something weird. Now You haveto wait for approval to send a message. Wish they would leave well enough alone.

  • Thanks Doug. I have bought many of your vids, as well as PG's Guitar Star with Brent Mason (makers of Band in a Box). I am learning as much as possible and both you and him are great teachers (although as of now he is still likely considered a bit more of a legend :P)

  • I wanna come visit you and give you a big big hug, thanks a million for your wonderful lessons! God Bless you.

  • I've been watching you for a while now.I'm a rock fusion guy but I get alot of country pay gigs and this newer country style has a tricky sound I like!I definantly hope to get close.

Danny,Brent,Brad, and you my friend are my inspiration for playing this style! Thanks

  • If anyone wants to know, this is basically the main pattern for Brad's track "The Nervous Breakdown". The basis of it at any rate.

  • Can't wait to get home and master this technique. Great lessons Doug, keep rockin.

  • Great job...thanks Doug!

  • Brad Paisley is my favorite guitarist...My goal is to learn all his songs and almost master them but the end of this year. I have followed you for about a year and I look up to you soo much. Your a great guy who shares the same beliefs as myself. Thanks again for all you do.

  • u are a true artist, I admire country music! the skill involved in playing it is amazing!

  • Great stuff man!! Learned alot with just this small video cant wait to check out the whole thing. I'm a blues player who is really intrigued with how country players do what they do so im looking forward to learning more from you.

  • Hey Doug I love your stuff. Would you show me some licks to play that is more like fill. not exactly up and down rhythm, but something to fill in when another instrument is taking a lead or bridge or like during a verse. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Thanks John

  • Nice job Im more of a blues player but looking to add some different tricks to my bag and this sure is different . But like u say easier to do when u break it down like u did It sounds great & i like your approach with your lesson very easy to follow Thanks

  • Just found your stuff. Looking real good if the rest is like this vid.

I just picked up my guitar after not playing for several years. I was never really good to start with, but now with youtube, I'm thinking I might have a chance. I'm subscribing to your channel and bookmarking your site to help that chance along.

    Keep them coming!

  • Really appreciate this tip Doug. I'm still plugging away at vol. 4 with my strat, and it is a lot of fun. Thanks again.

  • You've really helped me start to appreciate country guitar. And you're instantly one of my favourite teachers online.

  • What I like about Doug Seven's videos is they get to the point. I purchased "Habitual Techniques" about a week ago. I was amazed about how it made me a new guitar player, OVERNIGHT! Thanks Doug Seven.

  • Your videos are great! I hope someday you do an app like JamPlay, so that we can learn from you on the go. You could charge for subscriptions.

  • Doug I was wondering the axe your playing , is it a Bbender american tele or what is it?

  • DOUG,thanx for all your help!! Been studying your vid's for a little while now!! Dude, you smoke this country picking!! A comment was made about theory,& the lack of it in this style!! Because hillbillies had no books,DVD's, or any study material to help them learn, so they used the MOST IMPORTANT TOOL ,THE EARS!! This has helped guitar playing evolve to where it is today!! CHET started some of this,JERRY REED should be named,MERLE,& KENNEDY JONES(CHET's heroes),even LES PAUL, are pioneers!!

  • Thanks for the upbeat, positive and fresh approach. You've rekindled my spirit. Can't wait til I get those chops up to buy a Tele. When I get the engine back in my truck I'll have more time to play. Kudos.

    Larry

  • Doug, what an awesome concept bro. I really appreciate the way you teach and how well you explain things. Thanks so much
