Sometimes I find myself saying the same thing to the cars in this game as I do to real cars on the road: "Pick a lane, bub!"

This game plays heaps fast. I have the PAL version which is like 20% slower. see my vid of level 1 to see what i'm talking about...

I wonder what kind of car Rad Racer was supposed to be? I seen VW Beetles, Corvettes, Lamboghihi Countachs, Ferrari testarosas, and Porche 911s. Also if you hit the reset button at the end of the game you can watch the ending over and over again. I remember hitting the reset button constantly when i was little and laughing my head off at the ending.

I want to say that if my memory serves me correctly that the rad racer car was a Ferrari 328 Twin Turbo..Its been close to 20 years and i was small kid but i think there was an F1 racer as well..i loved both

I know what you mean. I had alot of video games from each system and I've bought some twice from pawn shops and ebay because there was a flood in 2001 where i live and it wiped out all the games I had that had battery backed memory. The one's without the linthuim batteries I was able to take apart and spray clean and set them out to dry before putting them back together. But the one's with battery backed memories got messed up.

I'm fortunate enough to never havin to worry about flooding. That must have been a real pain!. I still have the original system my parents bought for me when we could barely afford anything back in the 80s and it still works fine. I'm just trying to collect the games i never got to buy when i was a kid and before my next system showed up which was a Playstation. LOL.. i get mad at these new games and go pick up the A and B buttoned NES controller and have a damn ball! gotta love simplicity

I heard that! :) I agree with you. They just don't make games as fun as they did for the Nes and Snes. I don't know if I'm growing out of video games or what. I had such a blast playing these old games as a kid and still pick them up.

I dont think its us growing out of them really. I enjoy the hell out of the new games today with superb graphics and astounding atmospheres. Truth is, for me at least, it brings back the days of my youth where bills and taxes and work were a foreign concept. Also, they are really challenging. Its just plain clean fun. I miss the days of going to the rollerskating rink and playing pacman and asteroids with my buddies..OH..and Zaxon!! LOL..i believe i uttered my first public swear word at that one

The "See you again" at the end probably meant "see you in Rad Racer 2"

They must have known there was going to be a sequal coming out, or a sequal was in the works.

Why else would it say "see you again" IF there was NOT a sequal.

I did like RR 2 though.

total time to beat rad racer is 24:31 (3:03, 3:12, 3:15, 3:09, 3:05, 2:46, 3:01, and 3:00 respectively), so don't slow down too much!

Those slow sliding finishes are always epic. You think "Oh damn I lost" *sliiiide BIIIZZOOP!* "OH CRAP I'M STILL IN!" *hits gas*

That slow finish in the final track was pure win.

Stage 5 is so easy I can finish it with 43 seconds to spare. 6, 7, and 8 are annoying sometimes, but they're still pretty decent. Plus, when I play this game, NO cheats are done. I play it fairly and will occasionally crash onto something, cars included!

I still play rad racer on my xbox emulator and it's one of the harder games out there. I have a hard enough time with level 7, but have never managed to make it past level 8. What people should know is on 8, it's not enough to not crash... that's an automatic loss, but you also have to keep a high enough avereage speed. Note how the player in this vid keeps barely coasting to the checkpoints even though playing great :-D Brutal level, thanks for the vid.

Is there any game nowadays that even slightly approache the level of difficulty of the old NES games? Call of Duty 4 past past veteran or Halo on legendary are something yes, but stil beatable. SuperC without the 30 lives code or this game on level 8 are simply nuts!! How come games that require two buttons and 4 way directions can be sooo hard? :D And I'm not even gonna talk about Silver Surfer...

I respect you so much- you know why? Because you played the game for real. Not like these other "Playthrough People" who would've set their emulator to "Can go through all other cars, can go through every tree and sign without causing a crash, and No time limit on courses" to have "beaten" the game.

This is the kind of stuff Dreams are made of. WOW. I can only imagine the rush you felt at the end of that run when you barely sputtered past the last flag coasting.

Dude, that's exactly what I felt. I was praying seriously hard that the car would make it to the finish line. Knowing it has to pass 4 flags for it to offically cross it.

That was a rush that I haven't felt in years of playing this game. As they say, expect the unexpected ;)

yeah you can predict the movement of the other cars since i was 4 when i first played this i never noticed until now XP. anyway this was an awesome game 5 stars and faved
