I am a Bangladeshi. I was born way after 1971. But I am grateful to Joan for standing by my countryman in the moment of our greatest ordeal. She let everyone know what we were going through when the US government was selling weapons to Pakistan.

yes im underage and shouldnt have a youtube account but i HAD to comment on this so i made one but i heard this song in my music class (im in first year) cause we were learning to sing it (im a boy but i love singing)today and i started really crying my eyes out and everybody was looking at me but the bit where i got upset was about the young boys from the university with so much pottential shot in there beds and the needle bit it was so sad! wawawawawawawawa....

Every time i try to sing this song i break into tears. it is so beautiful words can't describe it. i could sing this song before when i was younger. but then i did research on the liberation war, those poor defenceless people fighting to liberate a country. at least now the world knows when we say we are from Bangladesh the world knows we exist unlike azad-kashmir who think pakistan has given them independance. at least Bangladesh is self-governing haha
