Why don't they have low floor buses like they do here in the U.K, and more to the point as NYC is very crowded why don't they use double deck buses, they can fit so many more passengers on them. When I was in NYC I was less than impressed with the state of the buses! The seats were made of hard plastic and the interiors were very basic! The buses in the U.K are so much nicer and comfortable AND BIGGER!
yeah i noticed you got the double decker buses! but this is just 1species of many species of buses. this bus is articulated, so it's like 60ft. we got coaches too! the seats are very comfy! by the way all north american city buses have the basic style. did i mention we got hybrid buses ya know the lowfloor buses orange LED displays. the MTA was supposed to get double decker's, seating 88 or somethin its a beauty
@g4viscon1 Low floor is shity europian(I live in Europian Union I´m not living in north america) conception it´s not modern only trendy...it takes lot of space from corridor when u have seets on "cascade" and in final it´s not so wheelchair (? sry my EN isn´t good) as buses with high floor. That is my opinion.
The only thing I don't like about NYC's Buses is the seating arrangement. Seriously, on one side its 1 set of seats and on the other its two. Thats pretty lame and it limits seating.
They do that to create more standing room as NYC buses get very crowded depending on the time of day and the route. One quickly appreciate the single seats after a hard day at work or school and he/she does not want to be bothered.
Only the hard seaters have this arrangement; the express and suburban buses have a conventional seating arrangement.
The M15 is always crowded because this is the only bus that operates in the "deep east.." Crosstown routes like the M23 and M42 are always crowded because they stop at every block.
Actually, I've been looking for a video just like this, to see wether if MTA's D60HF had lifts, or not. If so, how did they operate. This video just explained everything.

They do that to encourage people to stand. It is the same with STO, and that was the answer I got from a menchanic.

Since most of the bus routes run at a good frequency, like every 10 minutes, how often are they crowded?
