Superb! What are the tolls like in America? In my country, it's more or less a standard charge of EUR1.90 to use a tolled highway. Then again, we have to pay a road tax per annum on top of all that, lol.

I drove from Las Vegas to San Francisco and let me tell you, it was amazing. I love San Francisco... To me it is the most beautiful city. I loved going through Oakland and going on the Bay Bridge... San Francisco traffic scared me a little, but man I love that city.

tolls are strategicly placed in certain directions to make money , and at 6 dollars a pass is quite redicilous if you ask me .. thats why the feds do not fund new and improvements to be made , because of this . you cant fund a federal interstate and get fed funds in reture , therefore its the state of california's problem

@dkastrodubz Never go to Europe then if you have to drive in London... the congestion charge is £7 each time tou enter in London. Also the toll to cross the Mont-Blanc tunnel between France and Italy costs approx. 35€

@Cyrus992 i kno im not the one u asked but .. well lets all take this scenerio into consideration .. for example lets say the sfo bay bridges ,they were built in the 30s .. today 280k motorists use it daily , as of 2007 .. now lets round that number out for directional 140k cross the tolled side daily . thats $ 840k daily ..and nearly 6 million weekly ..come on now .. upkeep on that kind of payroll , total bs if you ake me ?

There is a lot more in Texas and of course unlike WASTING MONEY and putting us in debt, they toll them to raise money. They service is more efficent and for goodness sake, your freeways are in BETTER CONDITION.!! Lets not forget that Austin's unemployment rate is only 6%!

@Cyrus992 The truth is the huge influx of immigrants. Whether legal or illegal. It drove the real estate prices to astronomical prices and the state felt the need to increase the pay of state employees at the same rate. Then they had to raise the taxes to compensate. The pay in the private sector dropped do to all the new people who then fell into a lower tax bracket. Immigration is out of control. Almost half of all immigrants into the United States go to California.

@danie123182 Immigration is not bad or wasteful, but having them WASTE our PUBLIC services is wrong... BTW.. it also did not cause the rise in home prices there.. because remember its higher in MN than TX. The problem is the supply/demand issue and California needs to build more in order to make housing affordable like they do in Texas.

To me the Golden Gate is not just one of the world's greatest bridges, it's the single most beautiful piece of infrastructure in the world.

And I'm looking forward to seeing the new Eastern Span of the SF-Oakland bridge. It's supposedly the most expensive bridge ever, if I'm not mistaken.

It's a bit surreal to see the San Mateo Bridge on a video, considering I've either driven it, or been on it, literally thousands of times in my life. Kinda funny that you got to recording it, before I ever did, even though I live only 7 miles from the start of it. Excellent video that shows off the unique geography of the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Also at 3:20 what means FASTRAK only? This is some automatic system with cameras and in the end of the month u will get a receipt home how much to pay... or what?

@VPovver the bridges are tolled through a agency called Bay Area Toll Authority , Fastrak is the rfid transmitters that allow drivers to drive through without stopping , there are 2 devices that you can buy , one being the fastrak decive , the other is a card called the translink .. its about the same as a credit card , with a e-prom on it , so when u come to a booth you slide it to make your payment for a toll ..

@Bryant5493 its not a effect .. its just the speed effect and the way they the support beams are crossed .. its also known by its locals to feel more like a roller coaster ride , which i totally agree that it gives this effect ,
