Interestingly, it's been found more likely than anything that the reason that the Mayan calendar ends on 2012 is for the same reason that any of our calendars end at the end of a year as delineated by us... which effectively means that if they were still around, they'd probably have written up another calendar for about an equivalent amount of time by now.
