  • "link" doesn't work.

  • This game is killer part 2 and 3 suck.

  • holy snickers! I miss this game. back when life was all about splatterhouse, tony hawk skateboard, nickelodeon gak, gt performer, and pop ice.

  • sweet tunes

  • What a POS! You play as Jason, lol

  • The new SPLATTERHOUSE will have the original arcade version as the unlockable Splatterhouse 1. Although the TurboGrafx-16 version is the exact same game but with a red mask instead of a white because the original white mask made Rick resemble Jason too much and they changed it to a red mask. It may have looked like a hockey mask but it was never intended to be one since it's an other dimensional being. And I have played the original arcade and TG-16 and they're the same but with color changes.

  • @DolphHauldhagen And they added one more heart (health piece).

  • My folks refused to buy this for me way back in the day. Now I see why.

  • Oh man, reminds me of the days of playing this while eating Berry Berry Kix and watching Cypress Hill videos on MTV.

  • @singinglawnchair You played video games, watched mtv and ate cereal at the same time? Holy crap the nineties were amazing!

  • I loved this game and Pac Land.

  • @eight6sevenfive3oh9

    Holy Crap! I loved Pac-land.

  • Bleh. Looks like something AVGN would review, no offense...

  • @MastaGambit Its not a bad game. Its fun...and a pretty close Arcade port. I bet they could have done more with it if it was a Super CD game though.

  • Awesome game, though I hate how they ruined it cus bitching parents saying it was too gory for their kids(though not even made for kids). I hope on the remake they add the classic version, but hopefully the classic 88 arcade version, and not the crappy turbografx16 version.

  • @Kevster012 The TG16 version isn't crappy. It's a pretty faithful conversion. Unless you're a hardcore "must be arcade perfect" person, I see nothing wrong with this version. I have it for my Wii Virtual Console and I have no real complaints about it.

  • @vio2112, oh its not crap, just IMO its not as good as the arcade version.

  • @Kevster012 Well, no offense, but you shouldn't have referred to it as "crappy" then. Most home ports of arcade games weren't as good as their arcade counterparts in the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. But this is one of the better ones.

  • @vio2112, ya I kinda made a over statement there, cus its not crappy, cus it is still spaltterhouse.

  • @vio2112 If you want arcade perfect, wait till the new Splatterhouse game comes out. Its supposed to have 1, 2, and 3 unlockable and I bet that part 1 will be the arcade version.

  • The story of Splatterhouse.

They say he stalks the old haunted mansion.

They say he's looking for his girlfriend.

They say his only weapon against the maggot-eaten ghouls who took her is a 2X4.

And you say you want to play this game!

    I say, "Hell yeah."

  • I have this game on my Wii!

  • i would rather have for turbo graphx lol

  • I miss my childhood years, Im gonna have to bust this game back out

  • Comment removed

  • Yes I can.

    1) They changed a entire boss, the replaced the Cross with a severed head

    2) The mask is suppose to be white not Red

    3) They removed all references to Stage 4 boss room being a church. It's juts a empty room that plays church organ music now

    4) The final Boss they replaced the cross with a tombstone.

So yes, it is shit compared to the PC-Engine version which is faithful to the arcade except for gore and the meat cleaver at the beginning.

    4)

  • The PC Engine version is better than the shitty Turbo version. I stand by those words.

They changed the colour of the mask, they changed the grave from a cross to a headstone, they took out all references to the church and even changed the 4th boss.

The Turbo version is shit, and which is why when I play it on my PSP, I only use the PC Engine version (the Japanese version)

I obviously knew the hardware couldn't handle all the gore and stuff, but they didn't need to change the rest.

  • Its the same game, just minor graphic changes, surly that can't be enough to justify calling it shit.

  • i remember as a kid i was walking up the stairs in the hall way and found 40 bucks i raced over to toys are us the next day and bought this game and man i loved it freakin great.

  • I fuckin' loved this game also....and who could forget "Bloody Wolf" Hands down my two favorite TG16 games.

  • dont forget dungeon explorer :D

  • I found the hidden koala bear power up in Bloody Wolf and I wrote into gameplayer magazine and got credit for the tip.

  • you and I both. My brother had a TG16 when I was a kid, and I just got a PCE Duo-R :) I got Splatterhouse for 24 bucks from japangamestock

  • Reminds me of the old US commercial. What they said towards the end still rings through my ears.

"Your only weapon against the maggot-eaten ghouls who took her is a 2X4, and you say you want to play this game!"

  • Splatterhouse 1 and 2 are on VC.

Too bad the used the shitty Turbo version instead of the PC Engine slightly uncensored one instead.

I bought it on VC just to show support to get a new one made, and my prayers had been answered.

Next summer SPLATTERHOUSE will be reborn, and this time it better get the fucking support it doesn't take another 15 years to get a new one.

  • It wasn't shitty. It just didn't have quite as much gore. They didn't really censor it (Except for the mask, that was on purpose) but they just couldn't put the blood in because the turbo couldn't handle all the blood on screen.

  • They're now coming out w/ Splatterhouse for PS3/360, and it is 3-D. Screen-shots in Nov. Game Informer mag.

  • I'm going to play this music during hollween. I'm building a maze.

  • Use all three versions of the Terror Mask laughs to scare people.

  • this game still holds up well for its age. still scary to play!

  • They should remake this for the PS3...

  • Can you imagine the gore from a ps3 or Xbox 360 version of this game?

  • yea, but i just hope they dont make it 3-D. It should stay 2-D with sick graphics!!! who all agrees?????

  • There are

  • Mechapixel,

It's going to be 3D, not 2D. Which is a shame, this game really needs a Next Gen 2-D remake.

  • I have decided that on October 1st of this year (2008) I will get $20 of Wii points and get this game (along with 2 other games). Then, I'm going to try and find the Sequels for the Genesis on ebay and order those. While I wait for them to come in the mail, I'll be enjoying this game.

  • This was in my collection for my TurboDuo, too...

  • I AM GETIN IT FOR SURE :)

  • This game was awesome. When it came out, it really showed the graphic capabilities turbografx had...one of my faves. Of course now, it looks like shit 20 years later almost.

  • Just beat it in under 17 mins, but still Improving

  • I played this both on console when I was a kid and in teh arcades... creepy game.

  • That double-chainsaw boss is wicked!!

Can't believe there's hardly any blood and guts though!!! S.house 3 on the Genesis had some pretty wicked/disgusting graphics!

  • I LOVE SPLATTERHOUSE IT KICKSASS.

  • I love Splatterhouse

  • i thought the game was kool untill i saw the arcade version which looks alot kooler than the virtual console one.

  • Thats because the VC version is the same as the TG16 version. Btw, cool is spelled with a c.

  • YEAH, SPLATTERHOUSE RULES

Although the Arcade version is MUCH better
