The looks awesome. One of the best fan made CGs I've seen. I hope Fedcon 18 doesn't turn out like all fan made ST videos: great CG but awful uninspiring acting
Beautiful animation, from a technical standpoint...But I just cant overlook how butt-ugly the JJ Abrams Enterprise is..That shit looks awful from every angle.
@TomatoeAssassin DUDE ITS A FUCKING ACTION MOVIE CUS THE PEOPLE ARE STUPID caprica stargate universe and so many more have been cacceled cus of other people dnt u fucking dare get on the band wagon... just love what u got......... watch red letter media then u will realise what ur missing. btw im not offending u im simply saying hes made a good movie not a trek movie a good movie, just watch red letter media......... btw ITS FUNNY TOO i think u would like it too please comment on what u thinj
That was pretty damn cool looking. I like your 'warp in' effect better than the one used for the movie. Reminds me a little of the first two movies' warp effect, but still very original, and it's own beast.
@lcxantos The song's name is undetermined, but must have been that of the composer James Horner (I believe, which made many of the Trek movies' songs (music)). But, the music itself comes from Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country. (In the year of 1991). ;)
I think you mean to say "The LIGHTWORKS" or, simply, "LIGHTWORKS"... Makes a hell of a lot more sense.
Fireworks, for instance, are called fireworks - not fire works. Fire works fine, when you're doing a barbeque... not when you want pretty colors in the sky.
Actually, the name The Light Works is appropriate enough for the name of a digital media group. In much the same way that the Bath Iron Works uses Iron to create warships, The Light Works uses Light, among models, textures, and so forth, to create incredibly detailed animations and images which belong on our wallpapers. If you object to the naming of The Light Works, then I'd suggest you also submit a complaint to Bath Iron Works' parent company; General Dynamics. They'll be thrilled.
The Enterprise's deflector dish changes when she goes into and drops out of warp. at the very end of the movie when she warps from space dock you can see it shift. great model though!
lol no offence but im sure JJ Abrams would have been proud of this model aswell lol :) yea why didint they hire Tobias Richter to work on the new movie? lol im sure Tobias would have done just as good as JJ did :) and furthermore you people need to give JJ a break lol seriously lol im only asking nicely for JJs sake.
I like the new Enterprsie in the new film. I like that more attention is drawn to the warp nacelles. They're bigger, and they look like there is more function to their form, like there's a reason why they are shaped like that. The pylons look much stronger than the original, and all 'n all, it looks like the 60's TV "e" without looking like it's about to fall apart.
Honestly, you should be working for the movie, instead of Abrams... this is such a masterful performance!!
I absolutely HATE the new "e" in the 2009 movie, but this togther with the picture models Light works did, are making me start to like this new model.
From what I saw watching the new trek film it looks like they have tons of hatches that can be opened from inside, and the crew all grab water pisto... I mean shiny silver phasers and shoot at the other ship through the portholes. lots of little red streaks fly out and bounce off.... I mean penetrate the enemy ship! LOL! Although the blue photon torpedoes are kinda cool.
I'm going insane with anticipation! I took me a couple of viewings to get used to that warp-to-normal space effect but I like it. It makes sense because they literally look like they're "dropping" out of warp. And as for the Enterprise...she's beautiful!
awesome!... I do kinda wish that there was a little bit more of a visual to when they exit out of warp, a bit more visual of the ship, but that's just me.
Needs more lens flares to be official.

The new ship moves pretty fast. Those twin flashlights must be powered by Eveready.

@Ashenion22 Actually, it was composed by Cliff Eidelman, and James Horner only scored Star Trek II and III. I think it's from the Overture.

I think the Enterprise in the fedcon video should have used phasers to zap those fighters.

You should talk to paramount studeos about getting assigned to the next star trek movie.
They should use your video for a key battle scene
"The Enterprise approaches Sherman's Planet to engage the Klingon battlecruiser that is attacking the colony."

Wow that was awesome, so how long does it take to make something like this and how did you learn how to do it?

And what do you do, then, when it doesn't work?

The model was made by me, Tobias Richter / The Light Works. It was modelled after the first screens available from the new movie.
