@amro6972 No. Every game contributes, but Coded isn't nearly as important as a numbered game. Neither is Days or CoM. 3D isn't an in-between game, as it is a main game hasn't been made for the purpose of filling some hole in the story. It's a continuation.

@menace593 Dream Drop Distance is not Kingdom Hearts 3. The 3D stands for "Dream Drop Distance" and for only Nintendo 3DS. Dream Drop Distance takes place after Kingdom Hearts 2 and after Re:coded. And Dream Drop Distance storyline is par with the numbered title like Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts 2 and that makes it a main game.

I love how basically everybody pops up in this game. A dream. Pure genious. We can stuff everything into one game. Sora can truly learn everything once and for all. Maybe about Roxas and his hardships with Xion. Terra and Xehanort. Who was that ball of light years ago, and who created Castle Oblivion. Xemnas and Ansem are back. Organization XIII, by their old names? Lea? KH3D will most likely have the deepest story of them all. A true prequel to KH3. Square Enix never lets me down.

@NightfallIV You've clearly never played Birth by Sleep, or simply never paid attention to back story. When a person becomes a nobody, they change their names. Lea was his name before he was a nobody. Also, it's said if you kill both a person's heartless and their nobody, then they return to their original form. So it's speculated by the fans that this is Lea (Axel) AFTER the events of KH2 where he died. At some point his heartless died so he's back to being human, hence why he's going by Lea

@KingMickey358 Yea, it is pretty weird... I think it was the cutscene at the end of Re:Coded where Yen Sid explains it. My guess: the writers are using it as an excuse to keep bringing Xehanort back and keep him the main villain throughout the entire series. "He appeared in many forms"... It just so happens that this opens up the possibility to bring other characters (such as Axel/Lea - a fan favorite character) back, as well.

Gah, this is breaking my heart. TT__TT The trouble with more Kingdom Hearts games after this is that they're running out of Disney canon to incorporate. They've already done pretty much all of the iconic stuff. They can only do so much before they begin having to enter more obscure territory and they'll start losing fanbase. And here in the states, where they have many of the original disney voice actors, those actors are aging... X__X It's just so sad. :/
