  • Fiddle player is mighty good.

  • Likewise, just discovered her...my son shared with me. Great range and reminds me of Eva Cassidy...who is still missed!

  • amazing. i wanna hear ray lamontagne do this song so bad!

  • She also leaves out that little soulful "hoo-oh yeah" at the end of the chorus on her recorded version. Live version is cooler.

  • why the volume isn't in the maximum????

  • :-) :-) :-)

  • @grandbbq .....well said......

  • @im4out It's like a breath of fresh air.

  • Love the Grateful Dead tease :) Shake it Shake it Sugaree

  • @TheBurgonian330 ...john prine and the grateful dead...and of course..susan......well .what a mixture....thanks..

  • Beautiful! Wow, I can not wait to see the T&T Band again.

  • Susan is fine as Frog hair. NEXT!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing .....no other word to describe her this song has so much soul and heart in it and she does such a wonderful job with it ....all i can say is thank you

  • Into Sugaree! What a pleasant suprise!

  • AWESOME!!!! So soulful...

  • susan has sucha beautiful voice i wish i would of met her but i guess our families have never rlly gotten along :'(

  • great voice,good song

  • @martinez7855 ...hey thanks for comment..

  • @martinez7855

    ..and... so great susan...

  • I like Bonnie Raitt singing this song better, but Susan to me is a cross between Bonnie and Janis Joplin.

  • @wlangley88 I have often said that, myself.

  • dear im4out- thanks for turnin `er up to 8! sounded great! :P

  • I've heard a lot of covers of this song...John Prine himself has to dig this. And to throw in a bit of Sugaree at the end? This is beyond awesome. How anyone could possibly dislike this, I'll never know.

  • Great version of the John Prine classic song!!!!! Loved it.

  • This has made me a nearly instantaneous fan and I'm ashamed of myself for it not happening sooner.

  • takes some stuff to do JP right. yeah.. SUSAN this is exquisite!

  • If Susan and Lucinda Williams did something together I would have a pure eargasm.

  • And Very HOT I might add.

  • Her feeling is a little flat? You've got to be shitting me! She's got more talent and a beeter voice than BR could dream of. Paaaaalease!

  • WickedLesterKiss666 thanks for the heads up pardner. I KNEW I wasnt the only one out there that felt this way.

  • Susan does a great job, but Bonnie's version has been a fave of mine for 30 yrs

so she holds the number one spot for me

  • Having seen Susan do this live sent shivers up and down my spine, The Tedeschi-Trucks Band is America's Greatest Gift.

  • I used to think music was dying. thats because I was trying to get it off of the radio. All of the REAL talent is on you tube. Main stream media is dead. we dont need them any way. now, if all these good people can just make some money so they can continue writing and performing, every body wins. BUY THEIR ALBUMS GO TO THEIR SHOWS ! radio and tv are the past, this is the future. Susan and Derek are the future, I for one, am THRILLED!

  • @jpalberthoward9 i think your are right my friend. thanks for takin' time to comment.

  • @jpalberthoward9 Your right. I never listen to the repeats on radio anymore. Susan and derek are the future. Greatest ever

  • @jpalberthoward9 actually Derek Trucks is from the original Allman Brothers Band, so this also our past as well. As for Susan, has a lot of the style of Bonnie Raitt, we will see more from her.

  • @Timboy1776 actually, Derek Trucks wasn't even born when the original Allman Brothers started performing (circa 1969)...he only joined them in recent years. Are you thinking of his uncle Butch (the drummer)?

  • @BluesGirl57 yeah, that's it. I was alive so I guess that means I am slipping a little.

  • @jpalberthoward9 I agree. If you ever get a chance to swing by Lafayette, LA, you'll be sure to find at least a dozen bands to add to your playlist! There is some seriously innovative and quality music created here right now. This video is fantastic BTW. A great version of a great song!

  • She's no Bonnie:) she tries too hard. Her feel is a little flat.

  • She's no Bonnie:) she tries too hard.

  • Love the Sugaree tease!

  • Another great show , only found on Austin City Limits. I wish she would come back.... love her

  • a real shoddy job

  • Im4out, are you a personal friend of Susan? Do you know she plans to play in central Florida anytime soon?

  • Best best best

I cant believe how much i enjoy her music...

    Thanks Susan...

  • @jellison321 ......i'm pleased that you like susan.........she's cool...

  • @im4out I'm another who just "discovered" this gem. I was checking in on music from "the kid," Derek Trucks, and stumbled on Susan. I don't have any way to discover artists except through this medium. I'm a gtr. player and have been a fan of the Allman Brothers Band since about 1969-1970 and have read her name in some trade mags but have somehow missed hearing her. Oh, what a wonderful talent. I'm buying 2 of the most recent CDs ASAP. I'm also spreading the word. A new fan, Leo Bacarella

  • great song. amazing vocals:D

  • @fancyface04769 . i'm glad you like, my friend..

  • susan is one of the best, for sure...listen to john denver's rendition from farewell andromeda. phenom!!!!!!!

  • her smile 2:12! :) She feels the music!

  • Turn it to 11!

  • Just discovered ST this week how could I have missed her all this time. Went right out and bought a greatest hits CD cause Just Won't Burn is on LP. I am in love!!! This is the real deal not like what I had with those ex-wives!!!

  • @myhattrick i.m glad you found susan....

  • @myhattrick yeah, I remember the first time I heard Susan....I have been a huge fan since "Just Won't Burn" and now I'm in a band and do covers :)

  • @myhattrick ST is awesome. I first heard Rock me right on the radio about 10 years ago and I feel in love with her too. She is incredibly talented. Did you know that she's married to Derek Trucks...saw them both in concert together and they were amazing. So glad you appreciate this awesomely talented women....

  • shes cute as a button, sings real good too.:)))

  • amazing

  • I saw her and her hubby, Derek Trucks, last year on Cape Cod (they were both amazing) ~ love, love, love her voice!

  • I'm so glad that Susan is carrying on the Blues ~ ;o)

  • Double thumbs up for slidin in that lil Sugaree verse. Great stuff.

  • Great cover. Almost as good as Bonnie.

  • @propellerdiver ..yes bonnie's cover was good as well.....but at the end of the day. john's is still my favourite....thanks for watching..

  • @propellerdiver

    It's better.

  • @propellerdiver I love Bonnie but Susan made this her own.

  • @propellerdiver Almost?!?! With the Sugaree back? I think she redifines this song, I love Bonnie, but Susan makes it for me.

  • This one gives music chills throughout

  • @veribull chills are good for ya. lol.

  • I LOVE THIS. SUSAN IS AWESOME

  • i saw her at The House of Blues in Dallas. It was the best birthday gift ive ever gotten!!! I actually have a pick from that show!!! I love you Bryan Helm!

  • i love me some tedeschi!!!!

  • LOVE that she throws in a little bit of the Grateful Dead's "Sugaree" in there! Very pretty song! :)

  • @blisster22 i'm glad you like..my friend...

  • @blisster22 that is cool

  • Nice, but I'm hooked on Bonnie Raitt's version.

  • would love to see her and her husband Derek Trucks,

  • @elijan64 that sure would be cool.....

  • I saw her quite awhile ago at the Bayfront Blue Festival and after the show they couldnt keep the cd's on the shelf

  • gotta love the surprise bonus at end of the song, especially sweet for deadheads : )

  • @cosmiccarl .... yes , my friend...the whole song is a bonus......happy new year...

  • There were 420 likes when I viewed this and I just couldn't mess that up...But yeah, LIKE!

  • @herbgardner420 i'm pleased that you like.......yeah..

  • @im4out some 1 always has 2 screw up such a good thing lol but yea i "like"

  • I saw her in concert twice... once with the great B.B King... awesome voice!

  • beautiful

  • I can listen to this over and over again, and I have. :-)

  • @grandbbq me too.

  • I could listen to this verions a million times, only 999,999,900 times to go

  • Susan is married to Derek Trucks rom the Allman brothers..she has been around for 10 years now and her star is still rising.

  • Elizabeth Cotten: Shake Sugaree

  • this is why you tube is so cool. I'd never heard this artist before. now i'm going to buy her music. this awesome. judy collins, joni mitchell, joan baez, susan...

  • @TheSocratease and this is what big fat record don't understand........free advertisement...........

  • @TheSocratease yeah I got my dad a cd of hers a few yrs back, he listened to her on the radio or something and really likes her. She does have a really good voice. Powerful

  • @TheSocratease trying again-bill gates has cursed my op. thx im4. soc, u r rite. love the tune-been listening to jp since the 0's but never heard of susan til 2nite.

  • @bamapoppy i agree that this is a signature song from an artist who should be more widely known. the great thing about youtube is that it allows us more than a crappy 30 second peek before we buy. this way we can concentrate our spending on the really good stuff.

  • @TheSocratease

GOOD FOR YOU. By the way, she'd married to Derek Trucks, another great talent.

  • @TheSocratease yes she is great, reminds me of Bonnie Raitt in a lot of ways who also covered this song....

  • Wow.

  • @antigeekess yes wow is correct...

  • Saw her in concert tonight.

  • @steveogolf some guys have all the luck

  • OMG I will be in her presents this Friday!!!

  • @christiansoul2soul ...lucky you..

  • @christiansoul2soul your jumping out of a box or something? is it her birthday???

  • I got the great privelege to watch Susan Tedeschi play with Derek Trucks at the Mile High Music Festival this summer; I'd never seen her before and was just blown away by her voice, and her stage presence.

  • I could listen to Susan 24-7 and wish there was another 24 hours and an 8th day...

    WOW

  • @seymouro No joke man. Her ode to Jerry at 4:35 just kills.

  • @citrix99301 got that right. Jerry has a tear in his eye.

  • Truly awesome! Thanks much.

  • @fastfeat thank you.. for watching , i'm glad you like...

  • It's amazing to watch her sing- that powerful voice comes out so effortlessly!

  • @whenimsixty4 .....yes. indeed.. sweet to hard....and you don't even notice the change.........thanks for watching..

  • This is a very moving performance. The fiddle player is just amazing! Check out the performance of B Wishes, who performs this song as a bass and guitar duo. You all might enjoy that one, too!

  • @Saguaro00 i just checked ou b wishes version......and your right ..superb. thanks..

  • Love it again!!

  • amazing segue...

  • I sing tihis for my mom smetimes cuz it reminds me of her sad life:(

  • You're right, it is a "cool version of the John Prine classic" thanks for posting! 2 thumbs up!

  • @BCRification .....and you , my friend, are cool for watching....

  • Tedeschi and Raitt both did an excellent job on this Prine tune. If you like female blues musicians singing about a wasted life, check out the lighter side of poverty: "Urban Appalachian" at LisaBandFriends here.

  • @LisaBandFriends hey, thanks for watching...

  • Tedeschi and Raitt both did an excellent job on this Prine tune. If you like female blues musicians singing about a wasted life, check out the lighter side of poverty: "Urban Appalachian" at LisaBandFriends here.

  • Absolutely my favorite girl!!!!

  • Sunday Funday in Ventura....for those of you that get it!

  • Such a beautiful voice! Truely!

  • MY ONE TRUE LOVE...HER VOICE

  • Susan Tedeschi is essentially Bonnie Raitt #2, only younger and cleaner. This is a beautiful rendition of the soulful John Prine song. For somebody born into the ever-growing wealth of convenience store chain kings (or anybody, for that matter), Tedeschi does a great job of sounding poor and suffering. She has an incredible voice that seems genuinely emotional.

  • Derek, I hate you dude! Susan is the abolute BOMB! What a voice! I though Raitt could sing Angel from Montgomery, Susan blows her away!! John Prine would be proud! John Prine, simply the best poet of my generation (56 yrs old)!

  • is that Jodie foster? ah well...all you white people look alike

  • spagNsc. I'm buying this vid an cd because i have only just recently become a fan of s/tad because of youtube. im4out. not so clever, yea, stupid, yea. thick as two short planks, yea.

  • @tonyloome cool, my friend.....tis a fantastic dvd, plus susan has some wonderful cd's for you to explore.....thanks for comment......

  • @tonyloome An excellent addition to a collection.

Susan's voice seems to be maturing and developing nicely.

Hat's off performance to her here and one of the best talents I have had an opportunity to check out on YouTube. Thanks again to im4out for sharing.

  • I'm afraid to favorite this - the copyright enforcers will take it away.

  • @bluepez57 yes i know what you mean, i've had twelve vid taken off already....but. yeh, go ahead and fav. it. they take them down, i put them back up.. ah ah ah won't have youtube tellin' me what i can watch..

as for the big fat record companies. don't they see free advertising when it hits them. jeez. i myself have bought about twenty cds. plus ten vids, just by watching stuff here... for buiness men they ain't clever......

  • @im4out: Okay, keep up the good work - thanks.

  • @im4out Plus the fact that it also promotes ticket sales for concert dates.

When in history before could we preview a show before a show?

  • @spagNsc . exactly, my friend exactly... i'll say again.....big fat record companies........... not so clever......

  • @im4out Just keep putting them up. The money hungries might eventually get the idea! Love Susan saw her in concert At Bele Chere in Asheville NC one year. Can't get enough!

  • @im4out Good point, exactly what I'm thinking everytime I come across a video that has been removed.

I've discovered and rediscovered a lot of good music on YouTube. A good example is Susan Tedeshi! I'm Dutch and had never heard of her before. Thanks for sharing!

  • love this!

  • @jacksontj5 .... well, you would not be human if ye didn't love this...thanks for your comment..

  • oh! :_)

  • @lauxfrancia : )

  • what a great voice!! Love you Susan!! Your new work with Herbie Hancock is awesome as well...saved this to my favorites!

  • @joiseyeric ... i'm sure susan will be happy to stay in your favs...

  • volume should be on 10 man!

  • @Dirtbagging .. ha ha ha . yes, at least ten, thanks for taking time to comment.

  • A truly great songwriter -- John Prine lives and breaths his songs.

  • gotta love the sugaree in the middle... representin jerry!

  • Who the fuck are the 7 who voted thumbs down?

  • Please come in Italy

  • its very good but she wants to let loose..but i think this song is more laided back..

  • susan is so so good she gives me the shivers, she's pretty easy on the eye too, can't stop watchin.

  • It'll always be John's; I would give this a good third- behind Bonnie Raitt's version

  • I love the lead in to the dead

However I have to say that Tedeschi has done my favorite version of this song. well done

  • Susan has a small voice when she speaks, but she has a giant voice when she sings......she is awesome...

  • Good performance, you go girl!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing wrong here...

  • una de mis canciones preferidas, me hace sentir tantas cosas, me hace sentir en casa, y me hace amar el arte, siento que las cosas pueden salir bien

  • im4out, what is the story of your name, or is it too private. I'm interested in the names people pick online. Yours is interesting. Thanks for the beautiful song.

  • I would like to see you at the Jubilee!

  • Nice violin and arrangement.

Lots of people can sing the song well.

But John Prine... it's like he's telling about when it happened.

When you hear "make a song yours", well it belongs to John.

  • @Bamaboompa yes....sure does belong to john........but susan does a good job here......

  • make me fly

  • Soulful cover of a beautiful song

  • Peace sister.....Peace....:)

  • @ShamsiaSunshine yes indeed peace would be good...

  • @ltmusiclover89 ...i'm glad you like.....
