  • Great video, however you lost me around the 4min and 5min mark. When you started to unwrap, I felt more explanation was needed of what exactly is happening and what we're seeing. For example, why did you move the starting contents outside the blue grid.(at 3:20) Explain about those two thin rectangle bar shapes in the main rectangle shape; why are they placed like that?; why are there only 2, instead of 4?; etc.(at 4:30)

  • @kryps1 3:20 I moved all polygons out of the UV space just to keep things tidy... 4:30 another two are on top of the UV space... look at 4:55

  • I've subbed, I modelled with blender for around a year and I moved to 3ds max..

    I grasped modelling with max really fast but I found texturing so much harder and this has really helped me!

  • When I select the box at 3:22 my box only turns red in the UVW, but not on the model. Does that matter, and how does I change so it turns red? :) Btw thx for a great tutorial

  • @Brimso Try F2 in your viewport and you should get a red highlight on your mesh.

  • Jeez, i cant get the uvw unwrap to work.. its looks nothing like yours.. When i attempt to move it, it just draws some crazy lines behind it :/. WTH am I doing wrong?

  • man...really thank you for the tutorial....long time didnt using the unwrap uvw...forgot how to flatten the thing...after flatten the thing then put it into photoshop to create the texture right?

  • I don't agree that this tutorial is slow it was just the right pace for explaining this frustrating and sometimes confusing subject of UVW unwrapping. I see by some of the below comments that some people are ungrateful and discourteous thats a shame. However, I look forward to the texturing part when you get some time - thanks again :)

  • in my Edit UVW window i have a checkered background even after i set the background to black.

  • @shamwowofdeath in the Edit UVWs window on the "Top bar" you have icon with checkered cube just click on it that should help.
