Bob LeMond is the announcer. The only member of the original radio show to appear was Hal Peary, who played "Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve" from 1938 through '41, then starred in his own "spin-off" series, "THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVE". Here, he takes over Gale Gordon's role of "Mayor LaTrivia".
This is the unaired version of the pilot episode {"The Trailer"}, which eventually aired on September 15, 1959. Jim and Marian Jordan, the original McGees on radio (1935-'59), were asked to star in this series, but Marian wasn't up to appearing on a weekly TV show [she died two years later], so Jim declined. After this went off the air in January 1960, Bob Sweeney eventually became a director on "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW"...
