I was on the site where you build it and I was wondering what resistances those jumpers are. It's easy to test and find out but without more lines of colors it's of undermined resistance, unless I were to have physical access to them.

The scope is in XY mode; most scopes can do this. It plots the instantaneous X voltage versus the instantaneous Y voltage. We supply two inputs: X(time), Y(time).

Actually, no. The oscilloscope is using two inputs to drive both the X and Y axes. Notice one shot of the "X-Y" button on the scope? The microcontroller is basically using it as a very fast plotter.

This isn't Pong-- that didn't come until 14 years later. You can hit the ball whenever it's on your side of the net by pressing the button. Having the paddle visible and stuck the ball the whole time wouldn't make any sense.
