Defragmenting in Safe Mode is fine, but you should expect the process to take longer as the disk's cache is off in safe mode, and the safe mode video drivers are very slow.
Ahhh, but you can recover a partitioned disk fully and with all the info in tact, using a program such as Gparted. I actually did a tutorial on this app but YouTube has suddenly started uploading my videos 2x to the same link, which causes the vid to surpass the 10 min allowance thus rejecting the upload. I will attempt to get it uploaded again.

The best way to run MyDefrag is to boot windows in safe mode so it can defrag files that would otherwise be in use.
