I used to work in private yachting. I worked for Dick Brooks on "The Other Line" back in the 90's. Dale was his best friend.Dale owned the "Sunday Money". I've served and met Dale, Kyle, Rusty, Richard, the big dogs of NASCAR. Even Bill Simpson. In Dayton Marinas we catered to them all. Then came Bike week right afterwards. They all owned great Harliey's. They had the Best of all worlds those guys. Fond memories I have of those days.

Dale did his job and live an amazing life tho. He said once in an interview that if just one person tunes into a race and never stops watching, then he is a happy man. Little did he know that millions and millions of people has started watching NASCAR and their families too; and all because of him. I feel bad for the post death NASCAR fans out there who never got to see The Intimidator at his finest.

I'd like to think Dale Sr. would still be racing and dominating NASCAR today but the way they are running the show now I believe he wouldn't want any part of it. Don't get me wrong, racing the cup series is still a contact sport, but the drivers these days might as well be wearing skirts compared to the racing of yesteryear.
