the book is unsurpassed to the film, but the film was a decent attempt. Much of the book's genius is the narration, and its incredibly hard to make a transition like that to film. The movie was, however. as faithful as it could be for the time, when you think of the time it was made. And they still kept the theme of a poorly trained dumbass in WW2 as the hero. Biggest thing i have against the movie is that Kilgore Trout wasn't in it, and he played a big part in the book.
