For me, I don't see the difference in turning the fist at the end or not. If there is a small vertical opening I want to punch through, I don't turn. I see no difference in speed between the two. With my robot arms I am now doing a lot of open hand blocking and then I just close my hand to counter punch. Seems to work nice, but to each their own.
thats a good plan. after watching DBZ i used to wonder why don't athletes in the US don't train 'against gravity.' I mean to say more running up hills, climbing, jumping, and just general resistance to the downaward force.
How is that supposed to train anything? Punching the hand lightly definitely wouldn't increase my hand speed. Then should I punch harder? I'm sure the other guy would injure his palm before I get to improve anything.
I think a palm is kept open to help stay relaxed during strenuous exercise as well as when fighting. It is also kept open in readiness to parry an incoming counterstrike. In this exercise, keeping the fist clenched would seem counter productive, unless chain punching was the goal.
@dutoilette if ur hand is open it is like wat u said relaxed and its faster than closing it all the way try punching with ur hand open then with ur hand closed and check the difference
None, the speed of the punch is not in the hand. When I train, my hands are usually kept open, but curled, such that it can be drawn into a fist with no delay. Hold a relaxed curled hand in front of you and then snap in shut. You do this whilst punching. Eventually, your punch becomes a snap. If not, simply palm strike, knife hand, finger jab or any other open palm strike.
i did that today my mate was training with me but we were doing this thing where you catch there punch and punch back. he moved his body into the punch to much and my punch knocked his 2 front teeth out.
i think they meant to put their hands right next to their face because in a real fight, you would punch their face right? and also it is a very good opportunity to learn how to control the punches.
te ga chyoto marue ni yaru de motto hayae it is faster is you punch directly in the center and focus on moving your arm in a circular motion and not too wide and try to let air go through your teeth. this is not a relaxed punch.... READ THIS@

dude is saying to twist your fist in not as you're throwing the punch but right before the moment of impact. It actually makes sense. you keep your fist thumb up toward the ceiling and right before impact you twist your fist palm down

I prefer ankle weights and weighted gloves, an hour of that your muscles get use to the weight and you feel lighter when you take them off.
cleve101 1 year ago
You don't need to punch fast you need to step fast, hitting someone fast is all in the legwork. I'll keep looking I guess. :/
