  • Music reminds me "Home alone" movie. Whos is he? He's so HOT!!! MMMmmmmmmmmmmm...

    ⓁⓄⓉⓈ ⓄⒻ ⒼⓇⒺⒺⓉⒾⓃⒼⓈ ⒻⓇⓄⓂ ⓂⒶⒹⓇⒾⒹ

  • How many times can people ask the same question over and over? Learn to read!

  • the music is, The Carol of the Bells

  • I am under the great impression! Thank you all, for this awesome "frame" for the Dickens's masterpiece!

I lack of words to express my admiration for Gillian... Perfect!

  • i love gillian anderson

  • @coolsdon Btw you misspelled innocence.

  • @coolsdon From how I interpreted the novel Pip is slightly innocent... He was fooled into thinking that Miss Havisham wanted him for Estella when he was very young and allowed himself to believe she was his benefactor although she never actually said so. Sorry but Booth appeared just as shortsighted as Pip needed to be and Pip isn't a typical 19th century farrier! He's far more ambitious and yet gullible...

  • im so gonna download this movieeee

  • I'm not saying that Vanessa Kirby is not pretty but Estella needed to be stunning. Even in the 19th century Kirby would not have been considered especially beautiful. Rosamund Pike would have been perfect but I guess she was too old to be paired with Douglas Booth :(

  • @coolsdon Sorry but I completely disagree. Douglas Booth's "wooden" performance actually emphasized how innocent pip was at the beginning of the story. To be honest a blacksmith's apprentice in the 19th century is not going to be brimming with emotion in every scene. The only flaw in the adaptation is that Pip is more beautiful than Estella...

  • @enchantedbywinter ....I think it no more likely that anyone be fooled that Douglas Booth could pass as a farrier as Kim Kardshian being the next General Secretary of the United Nations.Working in a forge in the 19c would hardly breed a innocense based character.Wooden and innocense are def not the same thing!!

  • miss havasham is old though.

  • This whole production was let down by the ever so wooden Douglas Booth.Film makers seem hell bent on using these 'Burberry model type' pretty boys in all their costume dramas. He lends no character at all to the part and is obviously empolyed for his looks.

  • douglas booth is hot. i can't wait for romeo and juliet

  • It will be months before they show this here on TV, so I'm ordering it from UK Ebay. I think Gillian Anderson is around the same age as Miss Havisham is meant to be, only today, women in their late 40's look much younger and live much longer than they did in those days, due to better diet and exercise. Douglas Booth is just amazing, so I'm getting him in 'Worried About the Boy' as Boy George, and 'Christopher & His Kind' about Christopher Isherwood who wrote the book 'Cabaret' was based on.

  • I LOOOVE THIS MOVIEEE!!!!

  • does anyone know which is the song? :)

  • That boy gets slapped so many times in this that you just got to feel bad for him.

  • I just found out that Miss Havisham is played by Scully from X-Files! I didn't even recognize her.

  • This was so good! My only criticism was the casting of Estella, she was not pretty enough and I don't think this because Douglas Booth is so handsome, she just wasn't beautiful enough to play her. But regardless, it was awesome :D

  • @ejonaR "Pretty enough" for what?? Such a silly comment,it's not meant to be Miss Universe it's a tv adaptation of a Dickens classic!! Besides female beauty in the mid nineteenth century was completely different to 2012 standards.

  • @coolsdon

well i read the book for gcse, probably two years ago, and the main point that I remember about Estella is how beautiful she's meant to be, I mean that's the main description of her. The actress they chose was not what I expected that's all. Obviously it can't be exactly like the book (I always imagined Miss Havisham as looking as if she was rotting away, old and frail) but it was just my opinion.

  • @ejonaR Completely agree with 'Coolsdon'. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - she was obv pretty enough to play Estella.

  • Wow..as described in novel

  • The BBC have pulled off an absolute triumph with this. It was amazing.

  • Anyone know the name of the music in the background?

  • @OOjuniperberry carol of the bells watch?v=1TFrO8c_kVQ

  • it's Carol of the Bells, but I don't know who's performing it...

  • @OOjuniperberry Carol Of the Bells By John Williams it is a Ukranian Carol, there are several versions but John Williams is the best, in my opinion.

  • @OOjuniperberry It's called Carol of the Bells.

  • @33rosyposy thank you very much :)

  • @OOjuniperberry Carol of the Bells...one of my favorites:)

  • @OOjuniperberry Carol of the Bells

  • @OOjuniperberry The music in the background is Carol Of The Bells by John Williams. Enjoy! /watch?v=elAtcHU0iCU

  • @OOjuniperberry The song is "Carol of the Bells"

  • I cant even deal with this. <3

  • He's almost to beautiful to be a man. I loved him as Boy George too. What an amazing actor.

  • what's the name of the song/music?

  • @olaszwedo carol of the bells

  • I love how all the critics to this series has been saying "Pip is too pretty for this Estelle"

ER NO. Even id look like an elephant next to Douglas Booth.

  • Book 1: Pip is adorable!

Book 2: Pip is a jerk! I mean he goes home and doesn't see joe. he apologizes with FISH!

Book 3; Pip isn't a jerk anymore. but kind of cool:)

  • he has got the most sexiest lips ever

  • Gillian Anderson is amazing in this.

  • @ItsMeFletcher Shit. Didn't realise that was her till I read your post. She looks so different. going to have to give this show a look,

  • this is an epic movie ! or not .. but its still good i watched it yesterday , very good !!

  • For all the U.S. people like me who are dying to watch it, it should premier here in April.

  • Charles Dickens is a Legend and Douglas Booth is excellent as Pip.

  • I think they overdone it with miss Havisham's make-up. She was meant to be a woman drowned in her sorrows not the White Witch lol

  • anyone know where i can watch this online? i love gillian anderson, but i don;t get bbc on my tv.

  • @hockeygurrl we're on the same boat. I can't find this anywhere and I'm dying to watch it =(

  • pip is gorgeous!

  • estella is sooo hot.......

  • The song is "Carol Of The Bells"

  • will someone please tell me what the background music it is!!!!

  • @dizzydreamergirl Carol of the Bells.

  • @dizzydreamergirl carol of the bells

  • Looks awesome, when's it coming to Australia

  • Gillian Anderson is American but was raised ( 2 to 11 ) in Britain and she lives there now. Her accent is English but she learned to speak North American for the X Files. Now she is a linguistic chameleon. She did a great job but was to my mind way too young to be Miss Haversham. Douglas Booth was good but just a little too pretty and effeminate to play the part of a young blacksmith made good..

  • @fkkemble actually she learned to speak north american when she moved to michigan when she was 11, and found she was mocked for her english accent.

very excited to see her in this adaptation.

  • @hockeygurrl OK thanks for putting me right there though I did once hear her on TV say that speaking N.American was a learning experience for the X files. I live near Vancouver BC where the X files was shot and I have to say that she does sound more Canadian/ generic n.american. I do think she has great presense and loved her as lady Honoria Dedlock in Bleak House. Liked her in great Expectations too but have always had a very different image in my mind of Miss Havirsham

  • Douglas Booth starred as Boy Goerge(George O'Dowd) in the BBC TV biopic Worried About The Boy !

  • the music in the episodes i can not find on utube..help

  • Can someone tell me what this about? Like would you classify it as a romance or a mystery?

  • Why do they always have to American actors in them?

  • just finished watching it. It was seriously amazing, one of the best BBC adaptations i have ever scene

  • Young pip was really good, n'aww in that scene with Estella at the beginning :'O

  • Gillian Anderson is amazing as Miss Havisham.

  • @TheCpdj

But she's American. Why couldn't they have got an English actress to play it?

  • @6musky She's English. Her family moved to the US when she was 11.

  • Is it possible to get the soundtrack? The music is beautiful in this drama.

  • whats the song in the background called?

  • Dayum! That's a beautiful man right there.

  • If I am not mistaken, the version of Carol of the Bells used in this trailer is the same as or very similar to the one on the soundtrack of "Home Alone"

  • He was so good in it <3 I didn't like estella tho, he could have married someone more in his league, haha, but he loved her because she was the only woman he met as a child.

  • i actually cried when it ended purely because it was finished :(

  • Yes, ok, I admit I watched this because of Douglas Booth, but I was pleasantly surprised because I no longer watched it 'just for Douglas'. I was drawn to the story & the cliff-hangers that were so perfectly brought out by BBC. The cinematography, costume and whole feel to it was perfect. I loved it. Demanding for another episode isn't too harsh, is it?

  • Just finished watching this.Superb.Ray Winstone and David Suchet give the best performances.

  • I love Gillian Anderson. She's such a great actress

  • It`s The Carol of the Old Ones.

  • @3poizEn it's carol of the bells or something. my mom wanted to know. sigh

  • @3poizEn I don't know either but I want to know. does anyone knows that song?

  • miss havisham is ment to be an old lady not a younger woman in white

  • @bensimps123 come on, its Gillian Anderson - she can dress up like a squirrel munchkin in my books!

  • @StasisClungeFlux but i want some accuracy

  • @bensimps123 I'm sorry, but she is saucy from my perspective.

  • @bensimps123 You clearly haven't read the book.Miss Haversham is always portrayed in white as she is in permenant mourning for being jilted as a young bride! That's her wedding dress!!

  • @coolsdon i have read the book, to me she seems protrayed as an old lady also a picture of her in the book she looks like an old woman

  • @bensimps123 There are so many different possible interpretations of Miss Havisham. Personally I prefer this one, her comparative youth makes her insanity seem more haunting.

  • 'Your eyes have been opened and now you cannot close them.' *Sees Doudlas Booth.

My God she is right I can't.

  • Whats the Song used called? Anyone know?

  • whats the music in it called?

  • I thought this was meant to have Helena Bonham Carter in it?! I'm confused!

  • @HBCfan1 There is another movie version being made. This is really dam good though, I would be surprised if it's better.

  • @KingOfTelevision And thank you for spoiling it for the rest of us!!!

  • I really like it so far but very disappointed because there is no Biddy? Where has she gone? :(

  • awh i missed this when it was on tv. will it be replayed soon, i can't get bbc player in ireland :(

  • @LM1994ireland Use a proxy

  • THIS LOOKS EPIC, but I'm thinking my expectations are to great..

  • Sorry but Pip is HOT

  • This adaptation of the book is positively shit.

  • whos the benefactor? and why is the benefactor helping him? someone please tell me i dont care if its a spoiler

  • @pinkyMcfierce turns out the benefactor is the convict at the start and made a fortune in new south wales

  • @pinkyMcfierce You should read the book.

  • I love when Estella slaps Pip.

  • you don't say.

  • the white woman looks like gillian anderson

  • @dnch she is Gillian Anderson...

  • @Azzurro40 haha, thanx

  • Song is "carol of the bells" :)

  • Could they have picked a better song for this trailer? I think not.

  • Ding fries are done...

  • @danielmokey Would you like an apple pie with thaat?

  • Really good trailer.

  • I always pictured Miss Havisham as a bit older, but i love Gillian Anderson and i'm sure this'll be amazing! :)

  • what the dickens is the song? (don't excuse the pun)!

  • I love the song! What is it called?

  • BEST PROGRAMME ADVERT EVER!!

  • Watching this strictly for Gillian Anderson. Come one people. She can act anything you throw her way and make it unbelievably remarkable.

  • who sings it?

  • can anyone tell me what the name of this music

  • I find all the comments about A-level English lit' students basing their essays off this television adaptation quiet funny. I can't wait to do the same next year....

  • douglas booth!

  • What a brilliant trailer - beautifully arranged, just makes you want to see more. Oh, and perfect music - love the Carol of the Bells!

  • I am watching this PURELY for douglas booth. beauty of a man.

  • Comment removed

  • @hahaha1122van thats rather shallow. In reality, the girl should be more pretty, as she is the heartbreaker.

  • @MrBoBoTom - whats shallow? saying that douglas is a really goodlooking guy?i'm sorry but he is...and most of the comments are just about his hotness,so I guess we are all shallow.

  • great expectations, outnumbered, and doctor who. my christmas sorted!

  • @mangoangel82 That's not all on one day is?! :)

  • ding fries are done ding fries are done :))

  • I'm really confused, I thought Helena Bonham Carter was playing Miss Havisham ;( Disappointed!

  • @AimeeMcGhee I believe Helena Bonham Carter still is playing Miss Havisham, but in the film version. This version is done by the BBC and is being played as a series of shorter episodes.

  • @AimeeMcGhee It's next years.

  • @sarahjones and anyone else wondering about the music - its John Williams arrangement of Mykola Leontovych - Carol of the Bells.

  • When is this being broadcast?

  • @angharadceri93 27th :)

  • Chills me out!

  • When is this going to air?

  • @liemir 27th, 28th and 29th.

  • GILLIAN! XD So excited, she is WONDERFUL! love. re-reading the book before the 27th! I CANNOT WAIT!

  • DOUGLAS BOOTH IS SO HANDSOME!! GOD HE LOOKS FINE IT THE TRAILER!!

  • On the video trailer at 24 seconds does anyone know who is the stunningly beautiful girl on the far left?

  • @chernylesov Girl? That looks like a 40-50 year old woman.

  • @Mankind081

you must be aged ..lets see 5 years old?

  • @chernylesov 33 actually. Why?

The woman is still definitely not a girl.

  • So, I know it's probably hoping for too much, but I do wish that we'll be able to watch this on the 27th of December, like the folks in the UK. I LOVE "Great expectations" and don't know if I can wait for this to come on next year.

  • Douglas Booth as Pip is perfect. Ditto I wish Estella was prettier (Justine Waddell from a prior version was much better). In fact, Pip overshadows Estella in the looks department imo.

  • I CANNOT wait to watch this!! It looks brill :D

  • it's a pity that actress playing Estellais not so beautiful as in the book

  • The name of the song used in this advert evades me! Does anyone know?

    P.s. it looks brilliant!

  • @SarahJones3105 You're an idiot.

  • Looks brilliant! Sadly, the globally important North Kent Marshes and villages that inspired Charles Dickens to write Great Expectations are under threat! The Mayor of London & Sir Norman Foster have ideas to build a massive hub airport in the Thames estuary. Economically, environmentally & ecologically it is a complete non starter & 12x more dangerous due to the risk of birdstrike. Help us to protect our communities & our natural & cultural heritage. noestuaryairport

  • Pip looks really hot

  • @tinzar602 Paedophile.

  • @tinzar602 Paedophile.

  • Downton Abbey Christmas Special and Great Expectations! Thats my Christmas set. So excited!

  • @Lauranna Ditto to that, But I've to add in Dr Who too as well as the Merlin finale on Christmas Eve :D :D BBC and s little of ITV are dominating my Christmas.

  • @everyonelovesdee How did I forget Doctor Who! It wouldn't be the same without it.

  • douglas booth (L)

  • This looks so good, I hope it gives me the motivation I lost to finish my thesis on this novel! u.u

  • Miss Havisham looks a looks a little young but this adaptation still looks amazing. Is the whole thing going to be shown on Christmas day or just 1 part?

  • @Zepthire It's 3 one hour epsiodes starting on the 27th.

  • @Mankind081 A right, my bad. Thanks for the reply, can't wait to watch this.

  • i came here for the song.... thumbs up if you agree!

  • "Your eyes have been opened, and now you cannot close them." Perfect.

Watching this everyday and still get excited when I see it on TV...thinking maybe I'll need a good couple of glasses of wine to calm me down enough to watching it on the 27th! lol

My idol, playing one of my favourite characters, in one of my favourite books, by one of my favourite authors...damn.

  • @kate22uk Gillian Anderson/miss Havisham?:)

  • Gillian Anderson being flawless, as always. :)

  • How many people doing this book for English A Level are going to base the rest of their essays on this :P

  • Carol of the Bells. Written by Mykola Lyntovych and first performed in 1916 (worth listening to the original version in Ukrainian, it's beautiful. (Search youtube for Leontovych Carol of the Bells, even though it's actually called Shchedryk!) The English words (not a translation) were written by an American, Peter Wilhousky, a couple of decades later. This version is by John Williams apparently written for, or at least featured on, the Home Alone Soundtrack?!!

  • the song is Carol of the Bells by John Williams, thumbs up so people don't need to ask anymore!

Can't wait to watch this, Merry Christmas everyone!!

  • @TheEnglishRedRose

I'm wishing you nothing but happiness this festive season for answering this burning question. It's been driving me NUTS and Google didn't help. Thank you. :)
