Dont you have to use a proxy for downloading music

@shiwboat45 If you have access to a proxy server, it will help to hide your IP address. It is not neccessary for downloading torrents, it is just an added privacy level.

I just torrented a software, and it's got this thing at the top where it has a start and stop button, and when I start it it says it's "Seeding". what's that mean? It never did anything when it finished downloading.

Rameez, after you download the torrent file, utorrent will open a download window for you to confirm. The download window will have a list of all of the files contained in the torrent. Just click the check boxes of the individual files you want to download.

Try checking your settings, you might have it set to automatically download. In UI settings, there should be a check beside "don't start download automatically"

@bennyos1 there are a lot of factors that could be making your torrents so slow. Are there a lot of seeds? Do you have the proper port open in your firewall/router? Google "speed up torrents" and you will find lots of instructions.

@dude23624 Hey dude. It depends on the type of file you have downloaded. VLC will play just about any type of video. It can be downloaded at videolan.org. Just double click the downloaded file and it should open for you. If it is a rar file, it needs to be decompressed first. Your mac will do this for you using unarchiver.

@nobodylikesutube This video is a little out dated. Mininova has gone legit and no longer carries any torrents that they have not verified. Try monova or btjunkie.

So I downloaded BitTorrent from the URL you said. I have been told that you could also download torrents from Pirate bay, I go on there and download and it comes up as a text edit file with a bunch of gibberish. Help would be nice.

@TheEzRein The file you download is a .torrent file. It contains the info for the Torrent program to download. Drag the .torrent file into your torrent program, or set file associations to open uTorrent when a .torrent file is clicked. The torrent program does all the work at this point, so you just sit back and wait for your download to complete.

@TheLadyGhada If you are using a Mac, you don't have to worry about Trojans. Its not the torrent software that you get trojans from anyway, its the files you are downloading. I f you stick to downloading files that don't need to be installed (.exe, .pkg, .dmg) you have nothing to worry about. .avi, .mpg, .mp3 files are pretty safe to download.

Bittorrent is completely legal. It just depends on what you use it for. You could be breaking laws depending on where you are if you download copyrighted materials.

Depends.....there have only been a couple of Mac viruses, both found in torrents. when iLife09 and Photoshop for mac torrents first git the net they both had mac specific viruses hidden in them. You always run the risk when you download from unknown sources. Being on a mac greatly reduces your chances though, and if you only downloading video or music files, you really have nothing to worry about.

Actually, only the sharing of copyrighted material is illegal, and that is only in countries where there are laws on the books. There is nothing illegal about torrents or torrent software if the files being shared are public domain or are files that you own and wish to share.

I think the title of the video is very misleading! It says "bittorrent for mac" when in fact you're showing us a demo using utorrent for mac 10.5 and up. I'm using 10.4.11 so cannot use utorrent. I'd suggest altering that title so as not to waste people's time clicking on your video links!

okay so i did everything like you did in the movie. but once the torrent was downloading i didnt know what to do with it. i downloaded a movie and it showed that the torrent was done downloading but i couldnt do anything with it. i couldnt play it or put it in a file. i am confused?????

Did the file complete downloading? What was the file extention? Was it an .avi, .mpg? If it was a .rar file, then it has been compressed and you will have to decompress it using Mac's built in Unarchiver.

If Transmission is working well for you, just stick with it. I just used Utorrent for this video because I was familiar with it from using it on a PC.

I cannot answer your Second Question but for the First... Seeds are where Someone Downloads A Bitorrent File And When it is finished They wait for it to seed... Seeding Is where If there are no Seeds The file will not download and The more Seeds there are the faster. If you do not want to seed When you have finished Downloading Right click on the Torrent And Click on. STOP ALL DOWNLOADS

And Then Click Remove (This will only remove the Torrent file not the Files you have just downloaded)
