  • does anybody know how to play this, i have looked everywere and cant find anything (guitar)

  • @justingolden11 yeah the tabbed sheet music is in the derek and the dominos layla songbook. Got lead and slide parts and its pretty wicked

  • @claptonfreak6 I disagree. I think Dolye is a great guitarist and thats why Clapton chose him to do the tour.

  • Guess comments mean Doyle Bramlett plays slide on this as obvious EC does rhythm. Never trust a left handed guitarist! But do love slide lines in this piece.

    Peace!

  • Music taste is subjective of course, and I endorse free speech; but for people to say derogatory things about these talented musicians is just idiotic. Me thinks ENOUGH with the Idiots. It's time for them to go back into their holes!

  • @DarthVaderLovesYou there are thousands on this Planet who are much better than Dolye is! I mean it's cool that Eric gave him the chance to be with him on Tour, but seriously...he worked with better people before!

  • I always said it and I won't stop saying it: Doyle Bramhall sucks!!!

  • @claptonfreak6 You SUCK!!!

  • @claptonfreak6 clearly you and clapton disagree about that ... hmmmm ...

    who to believe ????? ....

  • This is alot better than the version w D Trucks scritchin' away on his noisy ass slide, good to hear a clean slide player! Eric is in great voice and form despite the weird hair,oh, and kiwidisciple your hair sux too.

  • Delaney & Bonnie's influence. :) "A whole lot of shakin' now....can't you feel it?" Produced by Phil Spector, Robert Stigwood & Tom Dowd?? The un-holy tri-umpherant? Man...I'm more pleased that Eric now produces his own records than I am that he's off smack....oh, maybe that's the same thing? Blood-sucking parasites!

  • Always loved this song.

Good percussion...good groove on this song. And as always, love the back up ladies.

  • Thats McCartney's Drummer!

  • Great song and performance!!! No words..!!!

  • Who is on drums?

  • @michaelpietzsch Abe Laboriel Jr.

  • TURN UP DOYLE, I CAN'T HEAR YOUR AWESOMENESS

  • hey there. is there any way to get this recording? ive been there and i cant find good videos anywhere. this is really way better than anything else.

    thank you

  • Saw him with Roger Daltrey in Tulsa. Front row. Best show ever! He didn't have a rhythm guitarist, either, which I liked. It was him, a drummer, a bass player, two backup singer, and a keyboard player. Nothing else. His acoustic set was killer, too!

  • Ths song is badass, too bad it isnt in the complete clapton guitar book......fuck it i cant learn it

  • @MasterclassNL Its quite easy... I had to learn it by ear. The Chord Progressions goes like this for the verse: A E A B. The chorus is: D E B E B D B or whatever, you should get that. The opening riff is (notes): B C# E E C# E E C# B E (low E). The riff connecting the verses simply is: E G A.

The only part of this damn song that evades me is the bridge with doyles solo. Never bothered to learn it really. I know it starts with a C# and ends with a B but I can't figure out the middle chord, sadly

  • @FeareBot Ab

  • @FeareBot Thanks for the opening riff! I believe the middle chord in Doyle's solo is G# (or Ad, you can choose), sounds pretty much like that.

  • @FeareBot Thanks for the opening riff! I believe the middle chord in Doyle's solo is G# (or Ad, you can choose), sounds pretty much like that.

  • @FeareBot C#, G#, then chromatically up from G# to B. That's the solo section.

  • What a brilliant musician 40 years plus and still rocking.

  • Just saw him in Lauderdale 3./11. He's still got the chops, but I liked him better in Orlando a few yrs back with Trucks and Doyle.

  • YOU'RE RIGHT !!!!

  • WHO WAS THE DRUMMER AT THIS CONCERT ? I think I seen him with PAUL Mcarney ??

  • @peteypool You did. I don't know his name, but he's done A LOT of stuff in Classic Rock!

  • ever find it funny all these english musicians come over to the US and redo all the blackman's blues music ? It's out of respect of course but i think it's funny

  • Just saw him last night in Pittsburgh. Best guitarist ever. Best touch, tone, and the most feeling put into it. Simply a genius. This version isnt as good as last night. not even close

  • That gig at the Mellon Arena was probably one of the best I've been to.

What a way to kick off a tour.

  • @55centerstage The version he played on the 19th at MSG was the best I've ever heard.. and I've heard so many bootlegs of this and seen him before.

  • Best gig I've seen.

Saw him with Beck at the 02, class!

  • Just saw him w/ jeff beck at msg, clapton played this it was sick!

  • the drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr. his dad is Abe Laboriel the bassist. . . .

  • i think the sunglasses are cool!!:D

    great song. Eric is god!!!!!

  • Unfortunately Derek Truck isn't in this version, Truck is an AMAZING guitarist. Mark Montgomery

  • this DJ sucks, he didn't give doyle enough volume when he was singing AND playing his solo... stupid douchebag

great song by great musicians, love it! DJ may burn in hell

  • eric sounds great, as usual. what's that drummer's name, who plays with mc cartney too ? good groove

  • Vastly under-rated, if you ask me! Studio speakers are make a huge difference! Great song, great performance, and if my speakers die tonight, I will remember this. Thanks!

  • is the drummer the drummer that tours with McCartney?

  • doyle's a great player, but after hearing derek trucks playing the slide in this song........ we just may have a new god.

nice to see a good quality vid

  • But Doyle is also a singer/songwriter.

    His lyrics are great..

Doyle is for me definitly the new music/guitar god

  • Doyle is without a doubt my favorite guitar player, but Derek owns this song. Doyle is great, but when it comes to slide Derek can make anybody look foolish.

  • @Brickma227 no way!

  • Derek trucks slide playing is awesome, but he doens't touch clapton

  • yeah he uses his thumb so he can easily mute the strings' around the chord fingers and so he can hammer off & on without breaking the chord shape

  • he sometimes bars with his thumb also --he might have little fingers or hands . I always thought it looked as though he was flipping the bird .

  • Great song!

  • 2:51... what chord is he playing there?

  • just looks like a C# to me.. i have noticed clapton uses his fourth finger rather than the usual third when playing a major chord from the 5th string

  • C# maj

  • Great concert!

  • IMO that is THE rhythm section of this era...willie weeks/abe laboriel jr...man what a groove.

  • i love doyle's slide tone, and clapton's playing is immense.

  • ROCK ON!!!!

  • what color is his strat?

  • What a bunch of idiots complaining about his sunglasses. This is a great song done by a great artist who has been doing it for over 40 years. And Clapton has not lost a beat and his playing is as excellent as ever.

  • I love this song!

  • Me too!

  • damn good

  • Eric and Doyle sound so good together. Hell yeah!

  • eric is god

  • How ridiculous are you? You seriously need to find something to criticize someone on...even Eric Clapton? You can't criticize his playing, so you pick on something as petty as his hair? Pull your head out of your ass and enjoy the music man!

  • who is the drummer?

  • abe laborial jnr

  • Clapton is GOD! ! ! !

  • still awesome after all these years

  • clappers looks a bit like john mclaughlin with his new hair^^

  • This is a great rendition of this with some good keyboards like that of Derek and The Dominos Live In Concert. DD Live in Concert is a must for any Clapton fan and includes this song.

  • クラプトン 最高!

  • just caught him a couple of days ago in melbourne. Wow.

  • and i got him in sydney

    great wasent it?

  • amazing lol. Ive been speechless for a while now

  • Was this in March 3rd?, i went there too.

  • This was my first Clapton concert. The moment he dived into that first solo was probably one of the best moments of my life.

My favourite song from the set was 'Here But I'm Gone' which I have posted on YouTube.

  • Abe is an absolute MONSTER!! Drives Eric's sound like nobody out there.

  • greatest band that Eric had, ever

  • is this from a DVD?

  • trzyma sie ziomek. Mysle ze jeszcze zagra w Polsce:)

  • why cant i see the video

    great vid lz

  • my favorite artist and i've never got to see him in person :-( I'd listen to him play anything..plz God before i die..plz plz :-)

  • I like AC/DC and somehow got screwed out of seeing them in concert my first time.....still ain't seen em.

  • i was at the gates waiting to meet my gf at the time as she turned up half way thru this song, so is nice to see it now properly. Not the best version, but pretty good

  • annbody know when the DVD of this is released???

  • Is it going to be a DVD realease? :D

  • i bloody hope so!!!!!

  • Yeah me too :D

Im going to the Royal Albert Hall shows in May :D

So i thought that he may had intend to do a dvd there? Since he is playing like 10 nights in a row :P

I hope there will be a dvd this year :D

  • Honestly, I'm hoping for a crossroads DVD more than I am a regular concert DVD. I've herd that Steve Gadd and Andy Fairwether-Low, will replace Doyle and Abe for those shows at the Royal Albert Hall. I'd rather see a DVd with Doyle(Guitar) and Abe(drummer) because Doyle seems to be able to Push clapton more than Mr. Fairwether-Low.=]

  • Yeah I completely agree with you on that one.

Doyle gives Claptons songs a more hardrock sound. And they work great together.

Andy Fairweather-Low has a more background role with Clapton, as he is in Roger Waters band.

But do you know why Andy never gets to play any solos with Clapton? But Doyle has one in every song?

What could be the reason for that?

  • I've seen andy solo several times, and I was not that impressed. He's wonderful with powerchords though. Roger waters in the flesh tour, I believe on Money, Andy has somewhat of a solo.

btw Andys been out on tour with his own band latley.

  • yeah i wonder why!

  • You know and i know what the reason is. Doyle is the best, the greatest (after Eric).

  • yeah that would be sick if he did a DVD , I went to see him in Toronto on his 2008 Summer Tour :) but, im not going to see him at the RAH :(

  • i really wanted to go to that but it sold out :(

but i hope it's gonna be on dvd

  • Comment removed

  • that was my first concert of slowhand. man, it was so great and i just couldnt believe that he was standing there above me. i was in the first range. huh!

  • NIce one, great track, great version, thanks for sharing it

  • Imho Layla & other assorted love songs is in the top 5 albums of all time. Nice to see him play a not so well known song from those days.

  • Yes. I profoundly agree with that.

  • Probably the greatest album of all time.... Layla and other assorted love songs.

  • clapton is one of my biggest idols lik.... the man is old... AND HES FIT ! haha in all senses...

  • i like it this song i think the album Layla and ither assorted songs is one of the best of Eric
