Great layout i've been enjoying your videos for some time now. How big is the layout by the way? it doesnt look overly big but its packed with nice detail. I was impressed with the wires on the telephone cables nice touch did you use a fishing line or something like that?

As a model railroader just getting back into the hobby after 30 years, you have given me many ideas & a serious interest in doing it right. Really good work, I know you have lots of time invested, I used to have a layout, then life happened-lol Its a very relaxing hobby, good to see its not just us old folks interested in it. In my time this was one of the best hobbies there was to grow up with- much better than out getting in trouble in the street, and a pretty cool to feel like you created an entire empire of your own. I dont miss the stupid music either, too distracting from the work. Nice engines and great work-!!

Very cool looking layout. Watching all your recent videos I did not even know you had a layout. ... let alone one that is meant to be set in my backyard. I know the Coachella, Indio, Palm Desert area VERY well. Which leads me to ask about all the buildings, landmarks, etc .... I do not recognize any of them.... the ADM plant, the engine house, the water tower, overpasses, car tunnels, etc... Did you just make them all up or are they based on other areas? Either way, it looks cool.

Great Layout Monster, also saw Your vid on detailing. Sharp. @ MrAquarium, DCC is what got Me back into ModelRR, just recently. Track wirng is greatly improved from the "Old school". But I see Your prob, a lot of DC loco's. Maybe just gradduly sell ff the Loco's and turn that around toward DCC ready types. Having all the other materials lets You fix up a DCC big in a hurry.

I've always wanted to get into this as a hobby. I love trains, I have hundreds of books because their that interesting to me. I would like to get a starter kit at a fair price. What would you guys recommend? You have a great layout MonsterRailroad. It's great.
Thanks dawg!! if you want to get into it here is what I recommend. Do not rush it. start with drawing out a track design in the place you have but in the meantime start purchasing pieces of rollingstock and track. Within a few months you should have enough to begin building a layout. It is VERY expensive though
I did what you said and I've purchased quite a bit of stuff. A lot of it from Ebay. I bought a lot of track, 4 engines, and close to about 60 rolling stock. I don't have anything set up yet just have the trains on display. I got a killer deal on ebay lastnight. I got a total of 29 misc. rollingstock for $46.00 + shipping. I'm diggin the new camera you got Al. That shit is tight.
I got the most of my collection from Ebay and train shows, and a shops here and there, I know I don't the most, but like 170 engines, 800+ cars. lord knows what in buildings, scenery, not to mention tons of detail parts for locos, wheel sets and sprung trucks for car and so on, two full 6' chevy truck loads filled completely full with a topper on it of just trains.
I'm at the point now I don't need anymore shit but I keep buying....now do i sell off my DC stuff and go DCC is my troubles..

I do too. They are one of my favorite locomotives in fact. The sadest part is they are no longer made and trying to buy them now is crazy because they are selling for MORE than retail now!! Check this out dawg! Last year Overland was at The springfield train show selling them at a discounted $100 a piece for a nonsound unit!! I should have bought at least 3 Now that same engine people bought for that price are getting twice as much for them on eBay if not more!

Well good news is those SD70ACes will cost MUCH less than last year!! That is because MTH is making them in HO scale. They will be $229 a piece times 5 is just $1150.00 That is just $200 more than I paid for one SD70ACE from Overland Models. As for the weathering I have a few commitments before I will be able to start weathering for people again. I will let it be known when I do that

I just got a model of your BNSF KATO Dash 9 well 2 of them they are awesome!!!! and your AC4400CE BNSF 5615 and BNSF SD70MAC love them. How many BNSF locomotive you have ? all Kato How many UP locomotives you got and how many SD70s and SD90s you got?
I have 5 BNSF engines, 4 Kato and 1 Athearn Genesis. I have about 6-7 SD70Ms by Genesis. One SD90Mac, one SD60 P2K, 2 SD40-2 Kato, a handful of AC4400CWs Katos, Athearn Genesis SD60M, Athearn SD45T-2 and a few more totaling only about 26 engines

I do too. They are one of my favorite locomotives in fact. The sadest part is they are no longer made and trying to buy them now is crazy because they are selling for MORE than retail now!! Check this out dawg! Last year Overland was at The springfield train show selling them at a discounted $100 a piece for a nonsound unit!! I should have bought at least 3 Now that same engine people bought for that price are getting twice as much for them on eBay if not more!

Well good news is those SD70ACes will cost MUCH less than last year!! That is because MTH is making them in HO scale. They will be $229 a piece times 5 is just $1150.00 That is just $200 more than I paid for one SD70ACE from Overland Models. As for the weathering I have a few commitments before I will be able to start weathering for people again. I will let it be known when I do that

Very strong, but perfect for setting the time. Im not against him, but I think that its wonderful that people can say what they want and not have fear of retribution. I give you kudos just for the fact that u feel strongly about something and not afraid to say. I plan to once I get to do my big layout make whole bunch of political signs from the past election. Again I say good for you, not that I would agree with you politically but atleast you stand for something. BTW love the layout! KUDOS!!!

though I am rep, I dont vote party lines, and recently, I tend to lean Libraterian I dont think Bush was totally guilty. He did many things good, but what he did wrong was go down the dangerous road of out of control spending. I dont want to get too much into politics, as it can ruin perfectly good friendships lol. I just got a model of your BNSF KATO Dash 9 well 2 of them they are awesome!!!! and your AC4400CE BNSF 5615 and BNSF SD70MAC love them. How many BNSF locomotive you have ? all Kato How many UP locomotives you got and how many SD70s and SD90s you got?

I have 5 BNSF engines, 4 Kato and 1 Athearn Genesis. I have about 6-7 SD70Ms by Genesis. One SD90Mac, one SD60 P2K, 2 SD40-2 Kato, a handful of AC4400CWs Katos, Athearn Genesis SD60M, Athearn SD45T-2 and a few more totaling only about 26 engines
