  • @thatguy30000 how is it not one of them?

  • Ragged but right... love this guy.

  • he is jim crow the dude tht makes fun of black people and i dont like him

  • A lot of minstrel shows were racist... this isn't one of them

  • is this mutha fucker anout ready to the moonwalk?! years before mj?! hoooollly shit racist but fucking funny...........damn...i should not be laughing....damn u white man...damn you

  • Sure wish they'd bring these classics back to TCM or A*E.

  • YES! black face is racist it started with racist intentions, it reinforced racist stereotypes and racist views...

  • is he trying to be racist

  • The first recorded blackface performances can be traced to the early 1600s in Williams Shakespeare Othello out of necessity for it was difficult to find black performers in Europe

  • michael jackson in der frühphase !

  • Boy, white supremecy. They want to be like us and at the same time they degrade and insult us.

  • Wait I don't get it. Why did people use to dress up in blackface? It's not like he's being straight up racist (in the song or dance), so what's the need for the make up? :/

  • @AhaSeriously It's the same ritual for the masks of actors of greek plays or commedia. It's a symbol of transformation. Someone raised exactly the same question in my theatre history class today :)

  • @AhaSeriously Because you wouldn't have black actors at that time due to the discrimination... So white people would dress up as black, exaggerating the black features and behavior, making fun of them! It was the same with Japanese and chinese people in movies, played by white actors. peace.

  • cool, he can moonwalk :D

  • Im black! And i have to give him his props! He can really dance. If he didnt put the black makeup on, you will say he is stealing black peoples concepts of dance, and not to say that he is a white man that can actually dance. Stop with the racists comments folks cuz i really love this video. Really good video.

  • is it just me or was that the stanky leg 4 real i know iam not the only one to see that iam black and it don't offend me at all.

  • No more offensive to black people as a Chris Rock film is to white people.

  • @murraymae : get over yourself. It's great stuff and authentic Americana.

  • @murraymae don't be bitter because people would still enjoy this awesome entertainment today if it wasn't so politically incorrect. These were superior entertainers for their time, and I would have enjoyed attending a show if I had lived back in the day

  • I'm glad I wasn't brought up in those days bc they would of hated me bc I'm black.

  • @wefi02 You're seeing this from the wrong angle. Blacks invented cakewalk to parody upper white class (including costumes). This became very popular (even in Europe). Minstrels would do blackfaced shows to bring "life" (theatre characters) to this trend. Some blacks were also doing blackfaced shows. I'd say it was more love/hate than hate, because the cultural impact was huge. It is more condescension than hate. Of course, some of these hows were hateful, but they were very off-off-broadway.

  • Wow this white boy can dance and ObamaIsPathetic i agree with you on todays rap music. Some of these so called rappers these days look like fools posing with their teeth showing and shit. This is less or I should say about equal to what black rappers nowadays do for our community.

  • Im black i think this is racist as shit but i cant lie i love this song and dance

  • Great performance! Terrible concept though... =/

  • impressive! awesome clip ;)

  • GO C DECEVIO AND NEW WEST ORDER MUSIC ON YOUTUBE 2012

  • I thought Michael Jackson invented the moonwalk?

  • This is less degrading to black people then most mainstream rap music.

  • @ObamaIsPathetic

you really think you're in a position to say what is and what is not offensive to my people? you can't understand. i won't even try and explain because you simply cannot and don't insult us by trying to say you can.

  • @ObamaIsPathetic Not really. I mean they painted their faces in dark makeup leaving a big ass pink ring around their mouth. As a matter of fact look it up.

  • This is very impressive and outfit is cool i like the different instruments in it and the dancing is especially cool with the sand!

  • Wow Mr. Haverly can really move, pretty impressive.

  • C-WALK!

  • i think iv fell in love with this man.. its a shame i cant find anything els on him =/

  • hes soo goood ^_^

  • @joehancock01

And it's really impressive when you take into account how old he was. His actual birth date is unknown, but he had to be over 70 when this film was made. Amazon Marketplace has a minstrel show artifact for sale that he autographed in 1884. That was 67 years before this film was made.

  • @ikachina PLEASE SEND A LINK xD i rlly wanna look at this =D

  • @joehancock01
