  • fantastic

  • heh, i liked 666th time

  • You simply cannot get tired of their music. Still great after all these years.

  • Simply Stunning , what more can i say!!!

  • настоящая музыка

In the seventies I had a song recorded on tape Procol Harum spindle. I listened to them over and over. It was for us, living in a communist country, a breath of freedom. I was at a concert of this band. The concert was held in Wroclaw.

  • @jazzforrum Excellent! Dobry wieczor!

  • sounds wonderful as always

  • Юрчику Давыдову...

  • Esto es volar sin alas compadre, escuchala solo hay que cotextualizar.

  • Trochę zapomniany a tak dobry....

  • what no one may have noticed is that this is finnish tv hell yeeah

  • Magical, mystical and utterly surreal! Definitely Procol Harum at their best!

  • I find this song really amusing, I first heard it and uttery hated it, but after a second listen I couldn't get it out of my head and it has now become a Procol favorite of mines. 10/10 tthis song infects your brain big time!

  • the marimba...priceless!

  • I have always loved this fantastic song (as much as many others by Procol Harum), but let's face it: The main melody was shamelessly stolen from "Spinning Wheel" by Blood, Sweat & Tears.

  • @steffenAC Are you sure? This was written in 1967, but unused until 1975.

  • I agree. Absolutely their best song!

  • i bought this when it was first released and just kept playing it over and over again. No other band makes a sound like this.

  • Awesome song, very weird lyrics.

I winder what they were smoking, and more importantly where can I get some.

  • this song cross all my bodie parts

  • Could somebody tell me whether this is live? It does not seem so, but it is slower than the studio version.

  • the one's you dont remember, are the one's that you should have never let go ?

  • Superb band. Superb song. Nobody does it like this anymore.

  • I love they're using a marimba

  • thanks for posting this

  • I thought "Salty Dog" was their best album. And this song is cool, too!

  • My favourite Procol song, so much going on - that lovely sustaining guitar harmony link, the ear-grabbing marimba riff, the funky cowbell and then the tambourine coming in for the chorus to lift the feel, guitar solo through a Leslie speaker giving it instant groove appeal, organ solo at the end that should've gone on for another couple of minutes, Gary Brooker's great voice with the reverb really working well when he sings 'main', and the coolest moustache in rock!

  • 60-s 100 %song. nice now

  • A whiter shade of pale is one of the best songs ever.

Some say one hit wonder.... Some are very stupid.

Ancestors of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and so on?

  • Sickest Procol Harum tune ever....!!!

  • Beautiful music and lyrics! Ay caramba, with MARIMBA!!!!! <3

  • What a great song to roll one ,or another by.

  • \Another great song by Brooker. hes Hot. like that long hair of the 70s.. the good days. so young, young and free .

  • This is the "live" version, but the composer of the marimba line that kinda makes the song was Barrie Wilson, but even he couldn't play two instruments at once. There are other Procol tracks on which you can hear B.J. playing a sneaky alto sax! People think he was "just a drummer" - ha!

  • @rotterdarned I played with BJ for about 3 years after he quit Joe Cockers band. He could play anything he wanted to, it just took him a couple hours to learn a new instrument. I'm not kidding.

  • its a yummy song

  • Needs more cowbell

  • There are a lot of good music in rock history. But I`m not sure if there are any better songs than this one. Gary Brooker has made several terrific songs, but this and Beyond the pale are the best ones for me.

  • I have this album , & its still great even without Robin Trower

  • my god the synth just sounds uneccessary

  • I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE WILL BE UP IN ARMS THAT I PREFER THIS SONG TO "WHITER SHADE OF PALE" WHICH WAS PLAYED ALOT DURING THE SUMMER OF 1967 HEARING THIS OTHER SONG TAKES YOU ON SOMETHNG OF A MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR

  • @gilllew wsop has been done to death ,,i read somewhere it was apparently the most played song on radio ever. that is done to DEATH. thats also one fucking big royalty cheque ,,,no wonder organist mathew vincent sued for a slice of the action.

  • If you want to know and learn about music, you'd better learn every band that stood the washing of TIME , is a total story on its own and you have millions of tunes to listen to, before you CAN have an idea of what is Quality in MUSIC...

Since you are here now, you've got one right here.

  • Thankfully I saw them in August 1994 live ..and I never thought before that I would hear songs like "Conquistador"...live...but that evening was great.Since that night I tried to buy every Cd... Thank you for this video,...great!

  • i ve always liked Procol (especially BJ Wilson's drumming). And "Procol's 9th" featured one of my all time favourite songs, in a good version i think ("I keep forgetting" , written by those 2 geniuses Leiber&Stoller who also produced the album).

  • Thanks, this is a truly wonderful song by a truly wonderful group, the older i get the more i appreciate how exceptional they were,i really do think this is great.

  • Ohhh.

    Tropical progresive rock!!

Amazing, this cowbell, the keyboards, the marimba..

    All It's really amazing..

Who said that Procol Harum It's only A Whiter Shade Of Pale?

He or she is a fool :-)

  • THIS BAND HAS A LOT OF GOOD MATERIAL I LIKE GARY`S VOICE HE HAS A MELANCHOLY VOICE THAT IS PERFECT FOR THEIR MUSICAL STYLE.

  • never seen this video before, love the song. I've lost count of how many great songs they've written/recorded. Their B sides of hits would put todays musicians to shame.

  • @BaldingMusicFan i have the original

    45 on CHRYSALIS

  • This has to be one of the best singles ever released. And the lyrics are truly out of this world. 10 out of 10 to anyone that can explain them??? (I've been trying, on and off, for over 30 years and I'm almost there!!!).

  • Yes and silly Cilla (Black) is one of 'em. (No surprise there then), I heard her picking her favourites on BBC radio 2 whilst in the car a few weeks ago and she actually called them one hit wonders. No wonder peeps cannot take her seriously

  • Elements of the mysterious and a seafaring sense of portent pervade Procol's best numbers - of which this is one...

  • what about this forgotten gem??...

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song and the whole procol's 9th lp, I gave it a great review at the time in ,y college newspaper.Nice live version,I like this better than the TOTP.

  • super

  • Long Live Procol

  • Drummer Bj Taylor taken at 43- No justice

  • @punditpete BJ Wilson even ;)

  • from Procol's Ninth (1985)

  • Forgot to mention the production which was of such a superior class to almost anything else at the time. A real class package completely. Thanks for posting this gem. Peace :-)

  • The very best Procol song made. It only took me 15 years to work out what the lyrics mean! Bought this when it came out and had to buy a second copy as I wore out the first. Peace to you all :-)

  • Number 1 in the Radio Forth (Edinburgh) Top 40 in the summer of 1975 for 1 month! This (1967) Brooker/Reid composition was produced in 1975 by songwriting legends Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller at the Who's Ramport Studios, and was a UK 16 for Procol. Popular in France too. This is the long lost Chrysalis Promo film made at Ramport for Chrysalis Records (London)

and found here out of YLE Finland's archives. Henry Scott-Irvine - Procol liner note writer - 25 Anniversary 30th+40th + Shine On Fanzine

  • Fucking mint tune!

  • Creepy, ghostly but a great track.

  • This not Pandora's Box of saint seiya?

    XD

    Cool song!

  • one of my favs.

  • Happy Birthday to Gary Brooker today 5-29-10 sat age 65 re wiki - fun tune! Lot's of good LP's!

  • Thanks for posting this. Lovely quality sound. I agree with many of the previous writers; this is one of PH's best. It brings the best out in Gary's voice. The track has a very mystical and compelling feel to it - that guitar sustain and the marimba really gives it an edge. Three cheers!

  • Sim, isto é musica

  • super piosenka i film

  • Known Fact-The drummer (B.J. Wilson) and the guitarist in the vid (Mick Gabham) both played on the "Rocky Horror" soundtrack!

  • This was a "aha"!!! But good one!! =O) I was so yang and shie but Harum makes me dreaming....oh Lord!!! =O) Todellista musiikin monitaitoa! Vai mitä?!!

  • Thank you !!!!!! Turntable T.U. , unable to play album, Procols Ninth. Thanks again.

  • remember this ! reminds me of a girl i nicknamed Pandora, amazing to get into her box :)

  • Wow - thanks to YouTube, I can see my favourite band again after all these years. It's simply amazing!

Does anyone have stuff with Robin Trower in the band? Please send it then - I will be truely grateful!

  • type in "procol harum broken barricades'...you should get most of the songs from that album listed (with Robin Trower on guitar) Enjoy!

  • Thank you, nudgler,

but what I mean is: videos of Procol Harum,

showing Robin Trower on the guitar.

There doesn't seem to be much around?

  • Excellent... I know the song but I've never seen the videoclip.

    Rating: 5 Stars!

  • Reminds me days that are gone ... Procol Harum was one of my favorites. Thank you for posting :)

  • super

  • Genius.

  • this song hasnt anything to do with Pandora in Adrian Mole I dont think so. I wonder what this Pandora was about.

  • this pandora probably refers to the first woman in greek mythology.

  • Pandora was a woman in the greek mythology that opened a box where all evil things/spirits were locked. She was told not to but she couldn't resist to her femine curiosity and she unlocked it and every evil spread out in the world

  • Pandora was (and still is) a punishment to men for stealing secret of fire. Pandora's box did however beside all the sickness contain a hope........

  • THIS is the sort of footage that should have been on the "All this and more" retrospective box set, NOT stuff from the 90's!!!

    TONY D

  • Genialne!!!

  • @TheMonikaaaaa A to to właśnie :)

  • Great track to hear again after so long, also on R&M. Many thanks

  • I agree entirely - heard it tonight on R&M. Threw me back 35yrs instantly. Such a splendid track

  • Outstanding, distilled essence of 1975 - thanks so much for posting this!

  • the harum rule

  • Great song haven theard this for a while, along with Kaleidoscope one of their best. thanks for posting

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Great to hear this old spooky tune. Fantastic.

  • This is amazing....I always loved this one of theirs......Outstanding !!!!

  • They are very sixties arent they..but very

    good..another great track

  • This is the song for which this band should be remembered. Certain of their others' "pale" in comparison to it. I've never heard another song quite like Pandora's Box. It conjures up a truly alluring mystical atmosphere. Beautiful.

  • Luskus delph is another one that has a good melody like this .

  • @Nojited1 This one is one of the best songs, I ever heard - I play it with my band too - Nowaday Procol Harum is as good as before and with new creative ideas - I heard them in Germany - CD „Well´s on fire is perfect - don´t understand, why they are not as famous as the Fab4 - Great Compositions.

  • @Nojited1

Agreed, but let us not discount the mystical and mythic grandeur of Whaling Stories, A Salty Dog, Repent Walpurgis, Nothing That I Didn't Know, and so on and so on....

  • @Nojited1 Well-said!

  • Simply mahtavaa! Kiitos thanks.

  • I absoloutely adore this song!! I rate this as high as Whiter Shade of Pale. Beautiful music!

  • "THE ROULETTE REGIME WAS HERE"

  • ...and some idiots think Procol were one-hit wonders. Six stars, minimum!

  • @guyosborn WHAT ABOUT 10 STARS??? I do agree with you!!!

    Ciao

    Fer

  • @guyosborn Right am !But apart from that, They are the only other Pop/Rock Band in the history that can sustain compare with the Beatles. They have delivered at least 25 exceptional songs Procol Harum rules !

  • @guyosborn They should be shot!

  • Love this song:)

  • this is one of my favourite songs!!!!!!!!!

  • It's my favorite since I got the "Procol's Ninth" LP... :)

...it was more then 30 years ago...

Is there any other video's from the same LP?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I love this song...surreal imagery + xylaphone FTW!

  • I love Procol Harem, one of their biggest fan since the 60's, keep posting.
