  • Here in Manipur (India), if Congress wins it might have been because of fraudulence – hacking of EVM. The people are bitter with this government: we in the city received only 4 hours of electric in 24 hours that too with many blackouts, the drinking water is very dirty and comes only about 1 hour in 3 days, the roads are worst in the world (a Japanese “circumnavigator” on his four-wheeler says it). The national daily “The times of India” said it’s a failed government.

  • paper votes are hard to replace and easier to protect where as electronic votes can nbe easily tampered with out known it.................you need a large people and offcial involved to change paper votes but few people an temper EVMs with any body knowing it

  • Why no media people raise this issue..........it shows most of indian media is run by corrupt parties they all are nothing but spokesperson for different parties

  • ballot paper is being used in USA,Japan,England but we want to stick with EVM's.Thanks to corrupt congress

  • EVMs were tempered in 2009 elections thay why the congress won . This patry is making fool of the entire country. Chor hai saale .

  • We doubt West Bengal 2011 vote is manipulated. Because

Star Ananda (Open Supporter of TMC) a local TV channel was predicting Vote result by exit poll was accurate in number. the accuracy raised question for manipulation in result.

Support from USA for TMC (according to wiki leaks).

Support from Central Government for TMC . EVMcan hacked by them.

Though we are not sure about the manipulation but the question is that, after all these things can we trust EVM ?

  • How could a country be prosecuting people who are highlighting the valunerability of EVMs? What are they hiding? Could only happen in fkn India. It proves India is run by Mafia under the pretense of democracy. EVM's are Banned in US, EU, and most of civilised world. How can you trust a machine, where there is NO audit trail? This is Blind faith. Even the simplest of businesses have to be transparent by providing audit trails. Indians should rise up and Rip out bad Governments. TOTAL TRANSPARENCY

  • Hello all, valid points made. But what I think is that, the Paper Voting can also be rigged - in much more easier and ways, by anyone who knows how to replace a stack of paper with another set. Both EVMs and paper results will be stored in the same kind of strong rooms, with the same kind of security. EVM or Paper are just a medium for storing the votes, it is the system of security measures that count, IMHO. (But one thing i have to agree is that make the software opensource)

  • Why are people here so dumb that they cannot have a serious debate and have to resort to blind finger pointing, name calling and conspiracy allegations? Yes EVMs can be tampered and any political party can use it to their advantage. Thats what we should be worried about and not which party is at the centre. And revolution like Egypt/Tunisia? Are you brain dead?

  • @SandipDev Join The Bharat Swabhiman Andolan if you believe the words you said and join protest march in Delhi in 27th Feb

  • Sonia Gandhi and Congress might kill me for exposing them but they can't kill my voice, thoughts and dream.'

    EXPOSING Congress : D : D

  • WE need a revolution like Tunisia and Egypt .

After millions of scams, injustice in court,400million below poverty line and trllions of dollars of indian money in swiss bank we should not practice gandhigiri if Congress have never practiced it for 50 years.

    Vande Matram

  • Dear sir, thank you for posting this very informative video.

  • I'm Indian and I think you guys have done a great job. Its a shame the government is hunting you down like criminals.

  • This is great. Any electronic or computer technology is prone to hacking. The solution to hacking is access control.

  • I have worked in politics for a long time believe me if EVMS could be tampered with no government would have ever lost while they were in use & the guy who stole the EVM shud b punished. What he did was tantamount to endangering national security.Getin arrested is exactly wat wud happen 2 anyone else who tried to do d same...just cos dis guy made a stupid simple to make video that any electronics student can make & put it on the internet shuldnt make him except frm d laws of d nation

  • @dreamermanu offcose i hate current price hike on every item..

they shud have atleast left wine..

koi dukhi ho toh atleast daruu toh pee leta tha...they have increase price of that also..lol

  • @dreamermanu

so you are trying to tell us that country where passport and degree are sold in market, where war room leaks took place...the security of these boxes is fool proof...huh give me a break...and what options do these researchers have if EC can't provide them a machine to prove that it can be tempered with....

  • @vairo2007 My dear friend I think u do not understand there is a great difference btw a degree or passport and a EVM... if u want to compare an EVM with something compare it with printing plates used to print cheques,DDs or RBI plates used to print money.... The whole point is not whether an EVM can be tampered with any system can be tampered with if u have physical access to it even computers controlling nuclear missiles the whole point is that no one has access to them without supervision...

  • Comment removed

  • @vairo2007 Unless ur claim is that even India's nuclear codes can be bought on the market I think u have it all wrong.... Oh and one more thing its not just enough to tamper with an EVM u have get the tampered EVM back to the EC without anyone noticing... please try to get more information on the subject than that gained from a video on youtube and u ll see what I am saying is true

  • @dreamermanu How much Congress and Sonia Gandhi paid you out of their Swiss Bank account to utter rubbish here???

EVM's not safer for fair elections and we today see it's result.scams everyday : (

  • @abhishekutkarsh Ahhhhhh funny funny what can I say.... your logic is so impeccable, I mean if you believe that Smt.Sonia Gandhi, one of the most powerful people in the world, the leader of the largest democratic political party in the world is afraid of so afraid pithy little people like you and irrelevant little youtube videos that she would go out of her way and pay people like me out of her supposed "Swiss bank accounts" to write comments on irrelevant little pages like these.....

  • @abhishekutkarsh ahh...who can beat logic like dis, tell me the truth don't b shy u also believe in d tooth fairy, power of healing crystals and that aliens built the pyramids don't u :))..... ahhhh people like you make life worth living... I mean without d constant comic fodder provided by people like u life wud b so dull, dis comment alone shud last me thru d next few parties :P.... so pls if u've any more pearls of wisdom like one u've written above dont hesitate 2 share

  • @dreamermanu keep on barking like a Congresse chamcha.Congress gonna END.

  • i knew something was going wrong this time in lok sabha elections also.

i work for India Infoline-( Head office) as senior equity advisors (options).

results came on sunday. and monday stock market saw an upper circuit..

some amazing thing was happening on friday evening at stock markets.

Bulk size options order where placed within 90 min of last day of trading.

my work is to track market direction with the help of various softwares.

we all know black money congress has at swiss banks

  • billions of rupee changed hands in one single day...

    Rich become richer..

good work Congress... atleast i have no problem with what happened because made profit.. althogh ppl may say it was un ethical....

but what makes a difference.. its money rest all is BS...

EVM is BS... we dont even diserve Democracy..and thatsplain truth..

  • @mukulmisra24 as opposed to other parties who have their money in cancun.... everybody uses black money not just the congress.... how else do u think parties ge money they don run industires

  • @dreamermanu i dont have any problem with any party...

we all are part of this system..

and if anybody gives me opportunity to run country... i will also do the same dirty coruption also..hahahaha...

  • Ivarunmehta: The election commission claimed they were tamper proof. If an insider official can tamper with them then they aren't tamper proof. Also, people claimed that the list order being unknown would cause a problem. Obviously that is actually only a small obstacle. Finally, the small mock election is a trivial security feature to defeat. This video demonstrates that indian election officials have exaggerated the security. The system is less secure than they claim.

  • @gf2e

Every machine has a weakness even Quantum computing has loopholes, but its not wrong to describe them as "tamper proof" because the Effort AND Work required to bypass them is so great.

Agreed terminology may be better worded by the IEC

All what was shown in the video wasn't possible and the similar future exploits will not be possible without a Corrupt Insider, for which there is no safeguard, be it West or be it the use of paper ballot.

2 million EVM's are used, system is much safer

  • I am not convinced,

So you need to have the Display removed,

    install a bluetooth radio,

install a new chip with new program code

And then you end up saying "This Settles the debate"

If it settles it then well we must get rid of them all, since there is nothing to discuss now? Thats total and utter BS

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link in this case the insider official.

With hook or crook anything can be messed up

  • Mr Hari Prasad is a Hero!!!

    Like Mr Manning!

    True Whistleblowers!!

    Jai Hind

  • Hariprasad has been arrested by Maharashtra Police please save him Aaj Tak.Please report on your news channel. The only crime he has committed is of exposing the truth of the EVM machines.

  • In INDIA we can trust the EVM but not the people who are handling it. I guess thats what the video is trying to say which is indeed true.

  • what a lame attempt by a bunch of jokers ? evrything in the world is hackable including the much hyped GSM. But what you need to take into consideration is the possibility of this happening in a large scale.

These US scientist jokers should spent their time on something useful

  • @sreejithmpi dont insult rop by calling him a US scientist. He hacked anything you can possibly think of since the 70's and owned the #1 isp in the Netherlands. Very happy he showed this since it is b/c of him that our elections (NL) can not tampered with electronic. He hacked all sorts of EVMs not only the Indian ones.

  • This video is to discredit the INDIAN INVENTION. It is impossible and no easy task to HACK and FIX 1,368,430 EVMs that were used in the last general election in 2009.

  • This video is to discredit the INDIAN INVENTION. It is impossible and no easy task to HACK and FIX 1,368,430 that were used in the last general election in 2009.

  • damn i hope these machines are stamped out. i hope all electronic voting is stamped out for that matter.

  • Not sure how far this video is true, but it does present the risk. It's time ECI does a honest and neutral review of the EVMs and the systems and procedures being used.

  • Amazing work they've done here. They've proven that if you have intrusive access to the hardware, you can screw it up and do deviant shit. How about you post an article when someone can walk into a polling place, hack a machine, and walk out without take a screwdriver or some large, obvious device to a voting machine?

  • Yes, Indian EVM can be tampered and so the US one's. The thing is no security is enough, the idea is to make it so complex that it can't be manipulated. The skills required to do bogus voting in Bihar is much easier than to replace the EVM hardware. The seals can be manipulated in the paper based elections also, and so in the EVM. But putting fakes votes in paper based elections is much easier in my opinion. Nothing is perfect, but EVM is surely a step in that direction.

  • EVMs don't need to be perfect. They just need to be better than all the alternatives.

As an Indian, I'd rather take my chances with an EVM than a paper ballot, having seen first hand ballot boxes being looted, and fake votes being stuffed in boxes.

Nothing in this world is perfect. Everything can be hacked, given sufficient resources and determination.

  • It is foolish to say that paper is certainly more fool-proof than EVMs considering how easy it is to rig a paper ballot and how good the Indian political class has become at this art over several decades.

But if it indeed is so easy to rig an EVM, someone needs to take a real close look.

But then again, as a democracy dont we have the right to rig elections :-)

  • This method of manipulation became clear when the home minister P. Chidambaram who was a candidates for 2009 Election at the Sivaganga loksabha constituency in Tamil Nadu, was declared lost. Then P. Chidambaram Congress candidate asked for a recount and lo, he was declared a winner. In a computerized environment such error can never occur and indicate the manipulation of the EVMs by CIA that helped the CIA agents Sonia Gandhi and CIA agent Manmohan to come back to power.

  • Takeover over of India, by CIA was done in 2004 using in a limited scale modifying our voting machine embedded software of the chip. But for the 2009 Parliamentary election, with the help of the CEC the emergency criminal the christian Chawla and the muslim EC Qureshi, the EVM fraud had gone to the national level. CIA chip has embedded software and Controlling Unit of the EVMs embedded with a wireless transmitter/receiver, for remote password access.

  • CIA agents modifid EVM machine embedded software and installed in many machines. In TN the exit polls showed the sweeping of seats by Jayalalitha. But the DMK with the manipulation of voting machines, were able to get many seats. The whole thing was planned in the congress war room with the help of CIA.. It is a simple matter to plant people at ECIL to help modify the embedded software with the help of the CIA. No political party has the clout to check this type of fraud by congress.

  • Vajpayee, changed the Indian laws to allow Sonia eligible to contest an election. Not only that he increated the Haj subsidy by a factor of 16 and the christian lobby spread the news that Vajpayee is being considered for the Nobel prize. In fact the NDA government was run by Sonia and not by steroid filled Vajpayee, through the CIA agent Brajesh Mishra, whose daughter is married to an Italian.

  • EVM chip that was supposed to be non programmable one to be manufactured by ECIL, has become a programmable chip with wireless nano chip, that is programmable and being manufactured under CIA supervision in Japan and USA. Vajpayee allowed EVM TO BE USED IN 2004 elections. Involved Chief EC James Michael Lyngdoh was given Ramon Magsaysay Award also. CIAwants to split india by 2015 using the UPA.

  • EVM's can be secure. These just aren't. Claiming that all are just a "black box" is a really desperate charge against all voting machines. How is this any different then someone changing the paper ballots? Or using invisible/changing ink?

  • @IdleGod The DRE type of EVM is called "black box" not because we say so, but because the voter has to trust the software. I'm with the German constitutional court when they say that that leap of faith is fundamentally incompatible with free and fair elections.

Systems that involve paper _can be_ acceptable, if proper audits are always performed. (But it's no secret that I feel that, all things considered, for most elections, paper ballots are the appropriate solution.)

  • @ropgonggrijp Except that paper ballots being placed in a box are also "black box". You have to trust the people who "secure" those boxes (often minimally educated, often unemployed, easily purchased).

Who you have to trust is the only difference. Trust a computer maker, who can get fully audited along the chain of custody of the machines. Or trust the pollster, who can't get audited as easily, and is easily bought for a grand, to just tamper with some paper which is undetectable.

  • @ropgonggrijp What a lot of people fail to realize is that elections don't just have to be fair, they have to be SEEN as fair (enough).

Elections have to convince enough of the losing bunch and their supporters that they lost. Otherwise you end up with riots or even a civil war.

There's actually fancy tech and cryptography that can make electronic voting work and hard to fake, but if the average voter doesn't trust it, it doesn't work in practice.

  • @ropgonggrijp Creating a tamper-resistent voting machine is an engineering problem like any other. Its entirely possible to achieve, and there is always an element of risk and a chance of failure. It is imperative that we solve this engineering problem to within an acceptable degree of resilience because it will become less and less feasible to rely on paper voting in the future as populations continue to expand, and important issues demand more citizen participation.

  • @ropgonggrijp Open-source the problem.

Have all voting software publicly available so multiple independent sources can verify the code before and after the election to ensure that it is difficult to hack before the election, and so the code has not changed since after the election.

Have 3 or 5 different open-source computers/software, each produced by a separate independent company. Compare results and investigate when the vote counts disagree.

  • @ropgonggrijp Couldn't they make all software and hardware public, and just encrypt the results? Why does secrecy make it any more secure?

  • @IdleGod This exact same thing happened my friend has seen it happen when the EVMs were being tested for the first time during the 2005 election.

But they just changed the EVM and did not check the new EVM.

I am surprised shocked, it is very big co-incidence that these video replicated the same dishonesty, BTW the party that was predicted to win in 2005 in India,(Gallop Poll and also the general public attitude) did NOT WIN.

  • @IdleGod its hard to change milions of papers but in electronic number does not matter

  • EVM's are NOT used in any advanced civilised country. So, why is India using it? have the existing powers cheated and manipulated the elections for the last 10 years? It stinks of corruption. Go back to proper voting with strict controls. No wonder the last few elections have gone against all expectations.

  • Thanks to Hari, Rop and Alex for exposing this vulnerability in EVM's... Wake up india..
