  • One of the finest Mod songs ever.

  • This song makes me so incredibly happy.

  • i wish i had known.,full of charming talent

  • I think Mick Talbot may have been listening to 'Brinsley Schwarz, Surrender To The Rhythm' before going into the recording studio.

  • i had one of those weller jumpers. sadly long confined to history. still got me bowling shoes though, 1981 vintage. lasted longer than most friendships!

  • Cara não tenho palavras para definir a admiração que tenho pelo Gênio PAUL WELLER, esse cara é um gênio cultural da nossa época , não tão reverênciado quanto deveria, mais é até bom tudo que fica muito popular acaba virando merda...

  • where is weller jumper from? where can i get it!?

  • i wish they would tour australia, i love them.nice , suttle, then full on.so creative also.

  • @snorley51

They split in 1989,a bit late 4 a tour i think.

  • @snorley51 he's been here twice recently...

  • watch them fng branches

  • can tell hes dying to laugh wen he strokes micks head :D

  • fuck jls shit

  • I'm so glad Weller included Tracie Young in this video. I had a crush on her when I was a kid LOL. Fabulous tune. Totally timeless.

  • Superb. They were a great band!

  • love it

  • does anyone know where this was recorded? Looks cold and either early in the morning or late in the afternoon somewhere probably in England or Scotland.

  • @just4tunes yes it was filmed in the MALVERN HILLS in worcestershire, england....

  • Memories of soccer casuals travelling the country misbehaving and following my team.Oh such happy days and at times hair raising.Up the super Foxes!

    Up Svens revolution!

  • I'd forgotten all about this track...

  • Yeah the ads bite, but I've heard that you're supposed to be able to find ANY music video that was released during the "video music era" (circa 1981-1999) on here. So far, there hasn't been ONE that I couldn't find (yes, I found Aqua's "Barbie Girl"!!) so I guess for that, I can suffer throught the ads!!

  • Was this band ever a hit in US? I just discovered PW now

  • 今見てもやっぱりオシャレ。

  • Say what ya want , you will anyway ! These guys had good lyrics and messages delivered in the style of the day . You can keep doing the same old thing or you can make an effort to be in with the times , that's what they did and they had a few hits so why crap on them ,do any of you have a #1 hit on any chart , probably not so why be so negative , just enjoy music for what it is entertaing ,yesterday and for ever music will hopfully be there to entertain us forever ! I'm liking what they did .

  • Summer of 1984, new girlfriend, Style Council in the casette player in the Mk 3 Cortina, mates in the back seat , her hand on my knee and on the way to Southend for the weekend. What a summer that was. MMmmmmm

  • I just want to say to VEVO..........FUCK OFF WITH YOUR DAMN AD'S........I CAN GET THEM BY WATCHING TV, WHICH IS WHY I DON'T WATCH IT !!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheJellybaby1988 I hate the ads as well. But I reckon VEVO is part of the reason that we get to watch all these vids for free, so I just suck it up.

  • I have a Lady G ad surrdounding this video. Disgusting. Paul would be outraged. Call the Modfather and tear down these walls! P.S. I am American.

  • wow! They're on vevo! :)

  • I forgot how much I loved this video in all it's silliness, prancing and singing in the cold English countryside. I fell in love with Style Council then and so remain.

  • The council i think was the best work Weller did, the same as Mcartney did with Wings, miles batter than the Beatles and the Jam, coz they did their own un-influenced stuff.

  • @creepycooper Perfect post. Agree on all counts.

  • This got Weller alot of flack! It should'ent have! Weller's new direction was'ent in vain! This is ace...beautiful even.. Weller and Mick were superb together!

  • @Shane55able totally agree mate, loved this the 1st time i heard it & still do.

  • top man

  • why did Tracie leave and the girl from wham join Tracie was so cool

  • so many memories,Weller pure class!

  • Paul Weller is so unique, so brilliant, so handsome, so my kinda guy!

  • Paul Weller is so unique, so brilliant, so handsome, so my kinda guy!

  • @fearnot12

    with you doll

    xx

  • deeply embarrassing. Paul really can't dance. I mean the SC made some good records but this is just pallid and silly (and I was a teenager in '83, sorry if I'm dissing someone's fave). He shouldn't have dressed up like a casual either. And poor Mick was just asking for it. So rubbish compared to the first Dexys album (feat. Mick).

  • @jasonpfinch I disagree. Look at the time this was made. And how stupid one must feel when lypsynching on a hilltop. Weller wasn't an actor. Yeah, the vid is a little silly, childish even... but we're talking about speaking like a child. It fits... And it's classic 80s.

  • Best time of my life ....and this man was a HUGE part of it.

  • Genius must be permitted its excesses. Whatever we might think of Paul Weller's politicking or preaching, he still wrote a bloody fantastic collection of songs. For a revivalist (of Mod, of ...?) the man was and is a true original.

  • i remember wanting to f*ck Tracie Young so baddly i was only 10.

  • we are the mods! really free aint we! :~)

  • 0:37 weller gives us that "dumb British bloke" look.

  • @just4tunes lol

  • I love this song, i was at high school when it came out, alot of my mates were mods and still thought Weller had it at this time. Fast forward to long hot summer and the vid that went with it had them all spitting feathers lol.

  • C'mon he lost the plot with this attempt a recreating the Small faces. I have always had a lot of respect for Weller but this period was bleak. Did we buy it cos we liked it or because it was Weller??? Did the music really warrant the success it had or was it just a throwback from die hard Jam fans who went out and bought Pringle's and Farrah's? Remember those patronising record sleeve note from the cappuchino kid

  • @jenkcam This is a great song in anybody's language. What's the problem ? It wasn't the Jam. Get over it.

  • @jenkcam this music was fab and a new direction. any good artist changes and tries new things. he had three or four great songs in a row with this group.

  • I want to build a time machine and go back to 1983

  • ;-)!!

  • Awww this song just makes me smile ,just like a child lol ;-) nice to hear him upbeat ;-)

  • WHERE IS STEVE WHITE?... so very uncool.

  • commercials will kill youtube

  • Paul Weller: yet another of the UK's musical geniuses!

  • Funny as fook! ;-)

  • This aint punk or new wave this is soul/funk

  • I love the end, bye bye Sun...

  • Giovedi 15 Torino Paul io ci sono !!!!!

  • @lalabel70 concerto meraviglioso. Se prima lo amavo adesso lo adoro.

  • This is not punk this is new wave.Totally different head...totally different.

  • That sweet music gets me high....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel

  • what a tune WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great video.

    Duck!

  • paul weller faf !!!

  • Personally I love a good prance on a hillside. Add a bit of brolly twirling and gate swinging and you've got perfection. Dressed correctly of course, there'll be no tweed touching my skin whilst there's still a healthy mohair trade.

I also like arranging re-unions in sports clubs that nobody actually attends. I just need to learn ho to park my scooter right, that front mudguard is getting flatter than Rick Buckler's nose. And Lords a-froffycoffy that won't do...

  • I love the song, but what a stupid video! I guess that's how they did it in the early 80s!

  • The Style Council were great - even better than The Jam I dare say.

  • They are very different bands. The Jam were raw angry music. Style Council are sit out in the sun getting BJs down the park!

  • @sljf555 yeah, like Wings were better than the Beatles. Wake up

  • @sljf555 you are right!!!!!!!!!

  • I like his dancing :0)

  • men shouldn't dance at all

  • Paul Weller is the greatest, he is my hero, but I suspect this video is simply another piece of damning evidence proving that white men can't dance! :-)

  • great song, the lad looks like a big weight was taten off.

  • Class video, bet it was cold shooting it though. I had a jumper like that once lol

  • Great Stuff.
