  • make me one with everything

  • My philosophy is a little too complete now.

  • I've seen more Buddha than that.

No seriously though, anyone else thinking about how the symmetry lines formed by the buddhas can be calculated using a fractal equation? The angles change based on the distance, I bet the equation is some cellular automata with infinite detail depth based on the same fractal equation.

    Anyone else thinking that?

Prolly get that thing running on 10kb if i had enough time.

  • @JolinarDeMalkshur It's Mudkips reference ;)

  • Would have been more effective if the star wars theme was used

  • ITS OVER 9000

  • I'm scared nao.

  • oh laughing bhudda, you so funny

  • thumbs up if notch sent you here :D

  • @podgeLadd and others with similar comments: i am sick of seeing comments that say thumbs up if (insert name here) sent you here. i'm not saying that i hate the commenters i'm just saying that it's getting old.

  • @cheesepie9621 lol i know but this is the only video that notch linked that didnt have his name at the top and i just thought he deserved a comment. u rather the "so i heard u liek buddha..." comments? just saying that ive never heard of stuff like this and notch showed me

  • @podgeLadd In that case *thumbs up*

  • I dare you to count them all.

  • @ThatGuyInTheBasement one, two three *9 years later* 924814812941, 924814812942, 924814812943, err, what? I LOST COUNT!

  • LOOK AT ALL THOSE BUDDHA HOLY SHIT

  • i like how these tech demos have totally random objects in them

  • It's over 9000!

  • Euclidean can eat a dick

  • @10lettername HEY NOW! They dont deserve such an honor

  • I enjoy the epic scam euclidion is making lmao.

  • Soon, the armies of Buddha will conquer the world...

  • Programm crashe when video was done XD. ok I am just joking lol!

  • WIth my army of unstoppable buddha, I will take over the w... What? They're pacifist? Dammit!

  • I thought 30,000 frames per second would me smoother...

  • @wisentgenus It says it's getting about 27 fps.

  • @KedViper i thought the . was a ,

  • @wisentgenus Oh, lol. But that's still pretty impressive.

  • Buddha Mode = 1

  • So I herd u liek buddha...

  • @xXxDiukexXx So we put a buddha next to you buddha so buddha can buddha buddha buddhabuddhabuddhabuddhabuddha HOLY SHIT

  • man just immagine the luck you'd get if you rubbed the belly of all those Buddas...

  • Comment removed

  • Lol that's not Buddha.

  • Needs moar Buddha

  • Spot the difference D:

  • thumbs up if notch sent you here

  • NOT ENOUGH BUDDHA!

  • its the same thing duplicated among a big space and same color thats not detail

  • Unlimited Buddha.

  • Terminator: Rise of the Machines

    It's the T-1 :D

  • This wouldn't even run with polygons

  • FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!

  • Thumbs up if Notch brought u here!

  • Look there's a vagina at the beginning

  • UD is pretty cool, but its not really the most efficient memory wise. It looks like just 3D pixil cubes anyways.

  • It's not unlimited budas.. it's 1 buda multiplied infinitely. So basically that 1 buda could weight like "1 terabyte".. now copy that and you dont need another 1 terabyte unique blocks buda.

  • @tulp35000 <--- hurr durr hey gais look at me, I know nothing on how geometry works! hurr terabytes!

  • I wonder what would happen if all those budhas did the truffle shuffle at once.

  • Comment removed

  • Sooooo, copy and paste?

  • why this video bring me some childhood memories?

  • @Ulrigh quack pack ?

  • @prof89 wtf? what?

  • @sv3nni I guess not too much help but here is a little more of the UD tech. If it even is possible /watch?v=KSvptZCJGyI

  • Comment removed

  • I think the first link guys did it better then these guys -_-

  • Notch Brought me here =D

  • @TheRtsRanger No one god damn cares.

  • I will make you all proud, Notch did not send me! Rather i took it upon myself to send myself.

  • @TheSmoothster I am actually proud. Why were you looking up Voxel demonstration videos, anyway?

  • @McSpizzy i heard there was a lot of stuff going down with the minecraft creator (notch) and graphics, so i followed the link to see what it was. one thing though is that Notch has started a cyber-riot. lool but im not against notch, after all he does make games and he never said it was fake, soo some people are getting worked up for nothing. but hey, people wanna get angry? go 'head! some of their points are quite worthy.

  • @TheSmoothster he said it was a hoax and the the creator of UD is a con man.

  • @Scremph No, he said the marketing is extremely overexagerating everything. They are actually using voxels.

  • Notch programs like old people do gymnastics.

  • @AtomicHercules Oh, I see, you're just a troll. Carry on then.

  • @Concorde1059 hey you shut your fucking meatflaps.

  • @AtomicHercules Calm your titties man.

  • @52kirby9 You guys should share rent since you love each other.

  • @AtomicHercules reference to old people, must mean you were molested by your grandpa

  • @gm556 I molested my grandpa.

  • This is not Unlimited Detail, it's just showing a technology that already exists. Christ, Notch fan boys don't even pay attention to what he writes himself.

  • Notch send me.

  • ...can someone make a comment that doesn't have the word "notch" in it?

  • @Shimja12 You can't, but I can.

  • @Shimja12 Minecraft's creator sent me here.

  • @TrueSarazil ...touché

  • not to mention the framerate looked like total ass

  • notch made a lot of people happy by giving them vieuws.

  • Notch

  • notch

  • Am i the only person interested in the actual 3d mapping? AH fuck it, Notch sent me...

  • Notch.

  • öhm.. Notch?

  • stop fucking saying notch.. no one cares.. DAMN

    o btw NOTCH..

    Fuck you guys..

  • Notch

  • Notch.

  • Notch = win.

  • notch send me

  • For some reason, it reminds me of mulan....

  • This is what my nightmares will look like from this point onwards. Thank you soooo much.

  • That's the chinese luck god.

    But yes. Epic

  • All i have to say is: Unlimited detail

Look it up! Some nice videos on it right here on youtube. :-/

  • @Statoilmotul : I know UD long time already. if you have any source how its done let me know.

  • @sv3nni as far as i know the only innovation that they have claimed is some kind of search algorithm

  • @sv3nni its fake

  • @itsCH405 It's not fake, it's a scam. The engine is real but it's not what they're selling it as.

  • @sv3nni They made a video that was thirty seconds detail about how it works and five minutes of marketing speak... from what I can tell, they convert polys into voxels, (how they actually go about it, no one outside really knows... no one knows if it's even real.)

  • @sv3nni its fake thats how dude XD

  • @sv3nni Don't use ulimited detail its a scam!

  • @TheSomeone717 Voxels are not a scam. Those guys are just overselling.

  • @sv3nni It's a scam. It is a scam. There is plenty of mathematical proof.

  • @unbrokenjack

    Listening to Notch I see?

  • @MrMekune I saw this video a year before Notch did. I just read his blog and watched it again. :/

  • @Statoilmotul - The UD videos are bloody annoying, and they never explain how their method lets them defy the laws of reality.

  • @Statoilmotul lol I used to believe in that until Notch's blog topic on that vid. It all comes together, they get a guy with a nice tone to his voice, someone who you can trust, then they won't give you full detail but they'll say "it's made by all of this and that and UNLIMITED!" all for funding.

  • @TheRetroZombie what does notch know seriously, btw i love minecraft but he stole the ideal from other games and his game is riddled with bugs and shit

notch doesn't know what he is talking about

  • @whitestar111 Did you even read the blog? And it's not about his games, even though I do agree with you he kinda ran off with other's ideas. There was Wurm Online which he did help work with which is a more realistic MMORPG version of Minecraft and then there's Infiniminer. So he mixed both ideas together. but anyways how do YOU know if you can trust what he's saying? It is pretty impressive but still.

  • @TheRetroZombie ya i read the blog before i came to this video

u can't take what notch says serious because he is throwing down opinions not facts and basing everything on his opinion how the game is built did he go and look at the tech to know if what they say is truly legit or not no

so i am going to keep a open mind and not just jedge something without knowing more about it if it comes out that it really is not legit than i can accept it but not until i get more info

  • @Statoilmotul its a scam

  • @Statoilmotul unlimited detail isnt possible unless you find a way to store billions of MB on a harddrive :) Thats why all engines using this technology are using duplicated models all over their map.

  • @Statoilmotul <-- this guy's comment was from a year ago and he's referencing a video that just came out a few days ago. He can tell the future!!

  • @MrMasterDork Or, if you actually watch the Unlimited Detail video you'll see that they said that they already talked about it a year ago.

  • @VocalDomain Yeah, right after I made that comment I saw.

  • @Statoilmotul unlimited detail is bullshit and wont work to hold up higher standers the best you can do with it is very low definition games because of how much space it takes up and how unnoficient it is its worthless and other game engines are making things that look faar better

  • @Statoilmotul All i have to say is: Shalom! oh wait thats Jewish..

  • this doesn´t show ton´s of details, only replication which is nuthing outstanding...

  • @carbonhealth : this scene does not contain so many details - for more details you should watch my other videos, especially the tree scenes.

  • @carbonhealth if you dont want replication, you gotta hand make tonnes of voxels and stream the son of a bitch, but other than that its exactly the same and this would handle it.

  • @carbonhealth You have extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely bad grammer, i hope you know that

  • @zwerty007 Yours isn't perfect either.

  • @zwerty007 And your comment contains a comma splice, a lower-case I used to refer to yourself, and no end quotation.

    You're one to talk. : \

  • @LakeMonsterManiak But dude, Ton's? Are you serious?

  • @zwerty007 I'm afraid I don't follow...

Something about "Ton's" and me being serious about something? Come again?

  • @LakeMonsterManiak Ton's = Incorrect, Tonnes = Correct.

  • @zwerty007 Oh, you mean carbonhealth said "ton's".

I'm not saying his grammar isn't bad. I'm saying that you aren't really in a position to criticize it.

  • @LakeMonsterManiak I've just seen 'Tonnes' of apostrophe abuse on youtube lately, and it is starting to piss me off.

  • Just how hard would it be to have destructable/changing voxels comprising an animated simulated physical object?

ie, if a character was comprised of voxels, so that it could have a complete anatomy, could take very realistic damage, and each voxel had phyical properties like the connectedness to surrounding voxels.

  • Also, I like the fact that you brought up that voxels were "ugly". That's nice. So to you, Super Mario Bros. is ugly? Metroid is ugly? Every NES era game is ugly because they don't stand up to your 2009 standards?

Voxel graphics will get better with time. They will get better even faster if they start being used by the gaming industry, which demands quite a bit more graphical intuitiveness than MRI scanning.

  • @seniorxduck

Err, that's sprites, not voxels. Voxels are three dimensional.

  • @DanFrederiksen

Hahaha your posts are hilarious. Your career involves some sort of 3D modeling, I suppose? Of course the voxel has a future in gaming. They said computers don't have a future in gaming, now look at them. True, voxels are very rudimentary and memory-consuming as of yet, but the state of technology is still improving. Voxels represent real matter much better than polygons ever could, as they ARE virtual matter, not some massless 2D plane wrapped around an imagined form.

  • I have yet to see animated voxel rendering

  • It's probably not possibly to animate voxels, they can't really be transformed programatically that I know of.

  • For my type of voxelengine, its possible to animate voxels vertically - so its possible to have an ocean for example. Skeletal animation is not possible however. For SVO, there are thoughts about bending the casted ray through a FFD grid, yet I also havent seen any demo doing this so far..

  • @sv3nni The voxlap engine seems to have animated voxels, there's a woman character with a walk-cycle, but she is stationary though. And some lamps that rotate in place.

Don't know exactly what method is used though.

  • Thats true - if you look close you can see that these animated figures are rendered by particles (point-sprites). I guess they are resorted each frame for correct visibility.

  • that are a lot of buddha's

  • yes - there are about 1500 in the view-frustum. the view-distance is 40.000, where one buddha has 1024x2048x1024 (length, height, width), so its about 39x39 at a 90 degree fov.

  • how much memory does the buddha model take?

  • 50MB - its 16bit color data, so its relatively compact.

  • relatively : )

no surface normals? just baked light value?

  • yep - no normals, no specular, just color data

  • whut is voxel ???

  • @rutgerhaase voxel is short for Volumetric Pixel.

  • and what is it good for? does it save gpu power or cpupower or is it good grafics?

  • @youre0mother : its good for scenes with tons of details.

  • @youre0mother It saves a small amount of memory when it comes to physics, since objects and particles are essentially part of the same.

  • thanks. would you agree then that voxel at least in it's basic form has no future?

  • No of course not :-) voxels are great for static geometry. Due to raycasting you can prevent a lot of overdraw which you get for rasterization in complex scenes. Voxels are especially good for LOD - with polygons, usually artists have to create and tweak all LOD levels of an object by hand.

  • I've heard this LOD advantage mentioned a couple of times but I don't believe it. you only don't see it because voxel is so ugly that it masks the LOD uglyness. voxel doesn't grant you an inherent way of handling complex surface and lighting interaction as a single voxel. it only works if you accept it's ugly in the first place :)

as I see it, voxel is only good for 3d pixel scans like MRI. no future in game graphics at all

  • Voxels aren't ugly - just the resolution is insufficient. For me, low-res polygon objects exposing too many edges and poor texturing are ugly as well - even those polygon objects might be rendered with 16x AA. Its mostly a matter of resolution.

As for the LOD, most artists still have to create intermediate LOD levels by hand - I have worked in a game company and saw this many times. Voxels can save a lot of time=money in this case.
