Any tips of increasing your supply!!?? I pump for 1 hour and get about 2oz, and im also BF my daughter as often as i can to also increase my supply aswell as pumping for bottles... But nothings working...
@weloveyou1234 I personally havnt needed to use anything but ive heard fenugreek, oatmeal, drinking plenty of fluids, pumping regularly- all those things can help. Maybe hav a chat to your GP, midwife, OB, or a lactation consultant? Hope it works out for you :)
Gud supply of milk u have there..:) i have question, can we combine 2 separate pumps? For example to store 250ml in a bag, if in 1 pumping i only get like 100ml, can i keep it in d fridge first & then combine with next pumping? Thx, ur video is helping. :)
@mikaelamona Well thats what i do :) I use my fresh to put into a bottle ready for her and whatever is leftover i put into a bag and just keep adding to it until its full and then put it in the freezer :)
I don;t have milk i pump like 6 times per day and i only get like 4 oz just for ONE fed but thats ok now. I felt bad at the beginning but I came to accepted. maybe next baby i will be able to prepare more since before he/she is born. Did you BF you son. Did you had milk when he was born like you have now. thats what I have been wondering maybe I will have milk with my next child.
@kosovitacielo Im sorry you arnt producing enough :( Im dreading the day when it happens to me- ideally id like her to go to 12mths but thats a LONG time to be pumping around the clock...
I BF my son a bit but he was in NICU and then SCBU and when he came home i had PPD so i just couldnt handle the stress of it so i stopped and went to formula. But with him, my milk came in on much quicker than it did this time and i had heaps then too.
I agree with nursecarlz it is a lot more convenient to bottle the milk in fridge I used the 8oz dr brown glass bottles in fridge with the dr brown screw on lids u can buy online. Once the milk cooled I combined them and dated by the oldest milk in that bottle and use the pumping bottles for store or feed. I kept about 5 full 8 oz bottles in fridge and froze any excess for emergency. I also kept the last pump at room temp for the 1st night feed. I do think ur systm is great too sweetie!!
And I label them with post it flags with amount and time pumped so I use oldest first. Then when I have more than 2 bottles worth in the fridge I will freeze that amount. Because its better for bubs to have the freshest milk and easier than defrosting all the time. If you need any tips at all I'd be glad to help.
I know this vid was not asking for help, but thought I'd just offer a couple things. EP'ing for 10 months I've learned a lot. I've found some milk storage bags that are so cheap. Swispers brand 20 for $4.00. Can find them in some chemists and chemist warehouse. I've never seen any others that cheap and they're really good too.
The way I keep my milk is basically the same but instead of freezing straight away I make sure I have all/enough bottles in the fridge for at least the next 2 bottles.
I always have bags defrosting in the fridge so always have enough in there to make up her next bottles, she is never without milk in the fridge ready to go :)
@AussieMummySince07 What I meant was it kind of seems like a waste of time/storage bags in the freezing/defrosting all the time. I bought extra medela bottles (we use medela teat) put amount in for next feed, kept in fridge, then all I had to do was attach the teat & ready to go. At the end of the day we froze the left over & made sure there was one bottle ready to go for night/next morning. Freezing destroys the leukocytes in the milk so fresh is better than frozen. Frozen only for emergency.
@AprilBaby2011 Well i just have my defrosted BM all ready to go in her bottle and keep it in the thermal part of her nappy bag... Im never out for long stretches of time since i have to pump 4hrly so i guess it doesnt really get a chance to go bad... Not sure on how long exactly it can be out- i think my midwife said like 4-6hrs maybe?
@AprilBaby2011 Fresh EBM can be at room temperature for 6-8 hrs. If it has been previously frozen and defrosted in the fridge but not warmed it can be at room temperature for only 4 hours. And fresh EBM is fine in the fridge for up to 5 days so very easy to travel with.
I think that you are such a trooper. I could only breastfeed my son for 3 weeks due to my milk being so watery and him losing so much weight from it so this time I am going to just bottle feed with formula. I copped so much slack about not bf my son till 6mths that it did really really get to me. I had a stranger in the shops tell me that I was a bad mum & missinformed by the docs. You really are amazing. You pump for your daughter & give her what she needs. Well done sweety, So proud of you!!!
@jadejussy Awww, thanks hun! Even though i guess if i really took the time to think about it- it IS a whole lot of work but i guess ive just got a system down now and its what works for us :) My son was formula fed and back then i didnt know as much as i did now and the PPD meant i didnt really care all that much either way as long as he was fed but this time around i cant even stand the smell of formula- i really dont want her to have it, i think its disgusting! But i know my son is healthy
and perfect so if i had to put Kayla on it, it wouldnt be all that huge of a deal... Id just prefer her to have BM and since BF didnt work out for us, this is the next best thing for her :) I think the pump makes life a hell of a lot easier- both sides are done, im completely hands free to do other things, etc so the time flies really and i can even sit with it on for like an hour, i just forget about it!!! LOL
@mommynaomi I have no idea...? I pump 4hrly for AT LEAST 30min but usually ill go for 40min-1hr if im not in a hurry or im doing something on the laptop. I know its enough to more than cover her daily feeds but in honesty, i dont really see it as being that much- i wish i produced more! LOL After 4hrs i get approx. 200ml total and after 6hrs i get approx. 300ml total.
