Yes, we ARE really that free. I don't know WHO would say otherwise, or WHY, but it's true. To tell the truth, we all get a good kick out of the whole "fat, stupid, racist American" stereotype. Most Americans are actually pretty well informed in terms of domestic and foreign news. Many go to college. Most of our newspapers have a whole section dedicated to foreign news. And fat people aren't as common as you would think, in most states maybe 5 in 50 people could be called obese.
