I still have my Ontayaki that I got when I lived in Kagoshima 23 years ago. I always wanted to visit this village. Were not these potters originally brought here from Korea?

At 2:04-2:16 I wish you had not swung the camera over the wares so quickly. Should have lingered so we could have seen what is actually produced. Too much time on the hammers, but thank you for the effort.

Thanks for the feedback - I hope for a return visit to Hita one day and most likely another visit to Onta pottery village. Will incorporate your feedback for future footage.

Wonderful video-there's an old black&white documentary (from the 50's or 60's I think) on the Onta potters, check it out if you can find it.

I would use the 'hammers' and a pulley system to make a spinning wheel. I think the up and down motion could be used for power. Just a thought.
