That's a pretty cool idea in this economic time. Personally, I'd have to have running water and a real toilet and the one shown is a little claustrophobic but it really is a good idea for people who are trying to downsize as much as possible.
Because I can't do the sleeping loft I'd have to need ~150 Sq Ft. I could live with that if life forced me to but I'm in no hurry to do so. Of course all this depends on finding a place to park it
Why does everyone think one needs a shower? My mother used to tell me about taking a bath in a wash basin when she grew up in the rural south. You wash your face first and your butt last!
So basically you've designed a home not much different than those of hundreds of years ago (log cabins). Then folks decided they didn't want to brave the elements to go to the bathroom and didn't want to have to go down to the stream for water. While I applaud the concept of a smaller home, I don't thing we need to go to the dark ages to accomplish the task. Also, I wouldn't want to be in your little house during a tornado. What about your grey water?
These would be cute little vacation homes to put in the country. I think timeshares are much bigger, and I like staying at them when I'm in Vegas and Disney World. But these seem cute for country living. They're very rustic.
or, you could be a smart person and just go out and but a 5th wheel camper trailer. then ud have running water, shower, storage, everything u need. and it would already be built. use ur noggins ppl
Have you ever looked at the construction of a travel trailer? Smoke and mirrors,1by2's.
A tiny house is stick built just tiny. A solid little house with charm and no mortgage.
I built mine for under $5000. All my windows and door were purchased brand new off of craigslist for $200 and had a retail value of $4000 if purchased at a store.Plus I designed it and built it.It has way more room than a 5th wheel. I suggest you use your noggin and stop being so small minded.
I am really thinking about doing this as well but i WANT atleast 3000 sqft so i can throw my shit everywhere and have a 60 year a mortgage living single and 5 acres to mow. that seems like the perfect life because that is normal.
I would like to live in a smaller place, but I need shower, restroom, full kitchen and sufficient bedroom...id like to see if there is better space management. And with a dog and 50' tv and computer 500 sq might be better...
I like seeing the quaint and homey home cruising past the high maintenance, expensive, stuck in one place, tract homes. so kewl! So Eco-friendly. I can't wait to make mine, off-grid too.
Far better than section 8 housing - and it's your own house, rather than some run-down rental unit owned by an absent slumlord. It's time for America to stop being the most wasteful country on earth, time for us to outgrow our overconsumptionism, time to stop throwing away money and resources on more than we actually need. To me, a little house like this means freedom! No wage-slavery for 30 years to pay off a mortgage. No ever-increasing utility bills or property taxes!
I have showed my wife alot of videos of these types of houses, shes not completly interested,,, but i got her to agree that one day actually five years if we havent had a child by then we would move into a mini house like these. so if you could send or help me find out how to better find blue prints and things of that nature that would be great thanks send stuff to juztme24@live.com
maybe anyone considering this lifestyle should rent a rv and try it before getting rid of all your stuff and downsizing.

Is it legal to have a tiny house that you sleep in in a friend's backyard?
CuriousKimification 6 months ago
@CuriousKimification no its like camping but u cant really call it a home because of restrictions and codes.
AmuseMeJasmin 5 months ago
@CuriousKimification yes? technically its called camping, but so long as neighbors don't complain you would be fine... it also depends where you live
