  • Also, what software could be used?

  • You could have shown how you wired up the piezo. It's not even seen! :\

  • Is the USB cord connected to the drum trigger

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • I read that he is connecting the trigger to the computer, anyone here knows a good plugin or program to convert the piezo's signal into drum sound, i prefer it could be free and for mac, but its ok, could i do that with logic pro 8 or garage band?

  • hey man. . please help me. . I have a practice kit in the house but i want to convert it into a e-drum. . what do I need and how much will it cost me???tnx. .

  • If its an acoustic kit you would need to buy a midi trigger kit, Alesis makes on for about $160.

  • not to mention a module, or an interface if your going into the computer, which means you'll neeed a program as well.

  • the sound is horriblem, i prefere play on a table, it sound better, or a real drum .

  • cool?

  • Fake at 0:21

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • he keeps going but the beat from the snare drum does not,

    ..::MIKE::..

  • And? That could mean the pad means more sensitivity, or that the module he's using glitched out, or that there was a connection short. It most definitely doesn't mean it's fake.

  • I myself never said it was fake, i merely answered your question,

    ..::MIKE::..

  • Inspiring!

Instead of buying mics, leads, stands and more audio inputs, I'll buy a bunch of mouse pads and peizo transducers, a midi box and the bestest software out there.

Then in a month when i seriously cannot deal with sounding like a drum machine for a second longer, no matter what i do and no matter what i try, i'll buy...

mics, leads, stands and more audio inputs

lol, nah jk, i'm a guitarist anyway (but seriously, as much as i love computers, they can't do drums the way i like)

  • what is that drumsinth plugin sorry newbie here

    Atat. :)

  • frumos :D respect

  • I did this too, it's great. I wanted to post a video but I hit some editing snags.

  • I'd like to know your setup. Do you have the trigger connected to a midi module or to your computer?

  • computer

  • What if he falls asleep and land on the mousepad?

  • you can trigger anything they are just transducers

  • you stupid fucks, all triggers are clip on ''sensor'' that send message to module then out of a pa,amp,etc...... you still have to kno how to play drums (dumbshit) with triggers you can hit the snare and comes through pa as a different sound, like a piccolo snare, or just nicely tuned snare, or if you wanted you can hit it and plays through as a dog barking....BUT you dumbfuck you got to be able to play the fucking drums dumbshit......................jesus ppl are fucking stupid

  • You gotta lot of anger there, man :)

  • You`re 100% right

Triggers are most usefull LIVE. For example, on tour. You have it all set up. You don`t have to loose 30 mins to make your drums to sound like you want them to sound. You just need install the triggers and the module, and your ready to rock. :)

On triggers, the mistakes are more obvious. Think twice before you say it`s cheating. ;)

  • triggering is NOT cheating. they dont play by themselves, and if you suck, they will show that pure and simple. its like saying a pickup in a guitar is cheating...and im sure les paul heard the same small minded remarks about his setups early on.

  • Actually... a drum trigger is nothing like a guitar pickup, physically or metaphorically.

I find drummers who *know* how to use triggers (The Berzerker, Cryptopsy, Fear Factory) impressive, but people who use triggers becuase they are too lazy to learn to play real kickdrums/snaredrums are an insult, so really, it depends who is using the triggers that determines whether it is cheating or not. I hate using them, it feels like im not in control.

  • actually the trigger is called a Piezo transducer. its often used as a guitar pickup.

  • triggers also make your mistakes clearer.

  • hey i did a very similar thing, i uploaded it here on youtube, called "laptop drum pad", check it out!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaahahhaha

  • OK simple as this, triggering is not cheating, it's the same as micing the kick almost, except that you can get a hell of a better tone, also, for all you drummers who can't admit you suck, it doesn't magically clean up rolls, it just makes them louder, and clearer, so if you suck, you'll still suck with triggers, the end

  • trigering is not for all kind people, u have to play clean 32nd notes to be able to trigger that, so drummers that uses trigers gotta be clean players, and come like george kolias, romain goulon really play LOUD it´s only a matter of sound, so u can heard the bass drum clearly

  • I personally think it is cheating since there are some people who can do 32nd notes loud on a regular acoustic kit without using triggers. however i do understand that night after night of doing this will kill your legs so i guess thats where triggers can come in handy

  • it doesnt make a difference whether its 32nd or 128th notes, its the tempo!.

tiggers are great, i've just made a full size mesh head kit and i can record on all drums with great sound with one wire.

Dont compare elec and acoustic, they are for different purposes (i have both now)

  • actually its tempo subdivision and time sig that are all needed to describe the speed of the notes

  • This has been driving me crazy, because I've been hearing lately that a lot of modern blasting is cheating utilizing triggers, and google couldn't return a satisfactory explanation of what the fuck that meant (besides my guess of electronic drumming stuff).

  • triggers (when used on acoustic drums) picks up the vibrations of the drum head, and passes it to a Module unit (like you see on electronic drumsets)

so when used on bass drums, the drummer has to barely touch the head to get a full sound, so by barely utilizing any muscle in his legs, he can do 32nd notes

  • Thanks, man! ^_^. I Appreciate the hell out of astute answers.

Shit, that is fucking cheating. Ha.

  • lol yeah

    well, it depends really

they come in handy for live gigs, but when used on an album or by some kid in his basements, then its cheating

but for live gigs, its nice because you dont have to mess with bass drum micing and eq problems with the speakers or mic bottoming out with frequencies

  • Totally. I agree on the live thing.

It's not surprising to all of a sudden hear all these deathcore bands with crazy drumming now. It's why I appreciate guys who can really do it on record and etc.

  • Triggers are not cheating at all. They just allow you to HEAR the drums when you play fast. An usuan microphine wouldn't pick up the sound, and there would just be a "BOOOOM". I just got my triggers for my bassdrums, I play just the same as without triggers, but the sound is better.

  • I see your point, but they clearly can be used to "cheat", also.

  • hey man thats awesome! can u explain me how u did that?

    i'll send u a msg

  • your bad

  • the fuck is this
