I have loved Ligeti's music since I first heard it as a child in 1969, and have always wondered what seeing a performance of it would be like. This is really quite impressive!
God damn, this group is so good. Its the perfect interpretation of Ligeti's music. Not dramatic-- kind of 'cold' and spacious, leaving room for lots of feeling to accumulate.
I enjoy this, not because it is beatuiful like traditional classical music (of course it isn´t...) - but because Ligeti makes very good use of the characteristics of each instrument. It´s modern aesthetics, if it doesn´t suit your taste, don´t listen to it! I happen to like it anyway...
And i pity you for attacking people who have different opinions. All it does is make you look like a complete jackass. I'm sure your a nice guy in real life, but don't be a dick to people on the internet just because you can't be seen.
I did not attack you, kid. Yours was not an opinion... You tried to force your own thoughts in other people`s minds. So try to speak for yourself next time, not for "everybody", and please try to construct arguments, because your "modern art crap" quote is simply ridiculous!
That`s a question of taste. Most and best of the "modern music" was written and performed in the 20th century. Stravinsky did some fantastic stuff, but stayed in the role of the neo-classical composer for most of his life. Alot of Stravinsky is pretty disposable
the high pitch parts reminds me jupiter and beyond.. love it !

Well, it`s not the music from "Mario bros.", but give this some credit, mate! You could learn something here! So try to pay attention next time, ok?

Thank you. I wouldn't be able to see this played locally...and seeing Ligeti played adds to hearing him.

Ligeti may be the Beethoven of the 20th century.
arabjazz 4 years ago
I believe that title has been more rightfully applied to Stravinsky. Ligeti is a part of the very essential lineage of modern music.
bassman462 4 years ago
yes of course.........maybe the 21st?
