As a Baha'i I trace my religious 'ancestry' if you will to the Abrahamic traditions. But lately I have to realize I know next to nothing about yet another ancestry of mine, in Persia and its ancient religions. Tiny as it is right now in numbers, most Western people never even have heard about Zoroastrianism. But I'm starting to recognize its grandness in terms of influence and heritage. As a Baha'i I recognize Zarathustra as a prophet as well, so I had better learn more about his teachings :P

A Persian Baha'i showed me a photo book of ancient Persian ruins and monuments and talked sadly and longingly about the days of the Zoroastrians. The Baha'is consider Zarathustra a Manifestation of God and point out that the Magi, Zoroastrian priests, are spoken of with reverence in the New Testament. I hope there's a resurgence of the old religion in Iran, to make that part of the world free again.

@91Tribual it is a religion i belong to... considered to be the first monotheistic religion in the world. Based on the prophet Zoroaster (Zarathusthra). Its preachings and way of life has been seeped into Judaism, Islam and Christianity... There used to be millions of followers. But once Islam invaded Persians, the zoroastrians were converted, killed and forced to flee.. The ones who fled, reached India, and they are called the parsis. There are only 60-70K zoroastrians remaining the world. Sad!

Well hinduism is another old religeon that existed side by side with Zorostrians, so naturally zorostrians will appreciate it more than islam.

First to clear things up, I am not arab. I am Welsh and Muscogee America. Secondly, I do appreciate your love for your homelands... but it is a shame to see the great people who once marched with Cyrus weak. Though, the most sad truth is some of the Iranians today fell out of line with what he, and the great Kings lived by. Tolerance. He did not massacre Babylon and declare their pagan habits wrong. No, he even attended some of their services in respect. Sadly that is not the case now.
