This cute commercial is from 1963-64 as is shows the "new" pigtailed Chatty Cathy, and the newly introduced Tiny Chatty Baby, Tiny Chatty Brother and Charmin' Chatty. We see Maureen McCormick with the Chatty Cathy and Eve Plumb playing with the rare Tiny Chatty Baby and Tiny Chatty Brother "gift set" called Tiny Chatty Twins... rare, because they came with their own special teeter-totter... each doll was sold separately too. Charmin' Chatty, with her changeable records is really neat to see too!
The little girl with the doll with glasses that has the record was Kimberly Beck. She started out on the soap opera Peyton Place. Then she played on TV shows like I Dream Of Jeannie, she was also one of the many children in the movie Your's Mine and Our's. She went on another soap as a young adult on Capitol. She was known then as Kimberly Beck Hilton.
Chatty Cathy was the first doll that woulc talk! I remember the day my father brought her home to me as a gift! That was fifty years ago ;) I will never forget the day!
It is Jan, or Eve Plumb. And that one girl was in one of the Brady Bunch episodes. So those girls knew each other long before that TV show came on the air ! The voice of the doll sounds like actress and voice of Rocky the Flying Squirrel, June Foray.
@amuslima99 it's funny I've seen this commercial before and noticed that the first little girl is Maureen McCormick ( Marcia), but never noticed until now that the little girl laying on the grass was Eve Plumb.
@davidls11 Oh Wow! your right. I knew that June Foray was the original voice,(it's heard in this commercial), but didn't know that Maureen did it as well. I googled it and she did indeed do the voice for the 1970 remake.

I love it: gender stereotyping to the max - "girls-mothering-communication." Boys' toys, on the other hand, were all about ACTION!!!!!!

If I had one of those dolls, I would switch out the record for a fat albert one and hide in my sister's room then turn it on at midnight.

@PatrickLHawkins Maureen McCormick was also the voice of Chatty Cathy. Mattel got its money's worth out of her.
