  • @Imakesnaps Hey i love that painting :) very nice !

  • @lilvietkiidd thanks for checking it out... I looked at your site, you're nice, do good work. Hope you're happy in the US... been to VN? I love it there. I can't do without VN food.

  • @Imakesnaps thankyou :) yeah im going to vietnam in 2weeks , cant wait. last time i was there was 6years ago , well you take care of yourself :)

  • @lilvietkiidd glad you're heading back... love to hear some about your trip when you get home.

  • Thanks for sharing the lacqeur painting. I was telling my little girls the Trưng sisters story to help inspire them through the hard work and found your post to be a very useful visual aid. It woul be nice if you could share a larger picture of it!

On some languague comments, please know that Viet is an Austroasiatic languague with 6 tonal inflexions. It doesn't share a common root with Chinese in ethnolingistic origin. Read up before making comments that Viet is "like" Chinese.

  • @ZocoLat Yes, it would be nice to show the entire lacquer painting in one picture but it's too large. About language- I don't suggest that Vietnamese language is "like" Chinese. Maybe you were thinking of another video you saw somewhere else.

  • ALL VIETNAMESE HAVE DNA FIGHTING SPIRITS!!!!

  • Nicely done.....Thank you.

  • @Pinky92ize

I was making an observation about US foreign policy in relation to the historic resistance of Vietnam against China's long occupation. History is there for us to see; no need to be offended. It's nothing personal. It's what nation-states do.

  • I'm an overseas Chinese. Let me tell you, people of Vietnam: not all Chinese condone the 1,000-year occupation of Vietnam. I for one felt shocked and deeply ashamed for what my ancestors did when I first learned of this. On behalf of the Chinese, I give my apologies.

It is my sincere wish that one day China and Vietnam will leave the past behind and become friends.

  • @S1587915G We are not against every Chinese. We are only against the invaders. As long as you respect us, we would do the same to you and we can definitely be friends !

  • To me there are nations, there are heroes. Vietnam just happened to be a small nation that always been pushing around by the bigger countries like China, America, Mongolia. As a Vietnamese American I'm very proud of my ancestors, and yet we never back down or give up on fighting the inviders. We are loving people, we like to be friends to everyone, yet people don't want to pick us as their enermy cause we r the fighters in war time.

  • great video....

  • thanks very much!

  • @lucirz

Not you, just the crazy ones still blaming China for their problems. I hate hypocrites and they chose to be communists and join forces with Mao.

  • I AGREEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is just the like the same thing with the France

  • yes, Americans are slow learners. Amazing that the US even paid for the French war to re-colonize Vietnam after World War II! Think of all the lives that could have been saved, all the destruction and suffering if peace had come in the 1940s.

  • Check out the "The quiet american" by Grantham Green, you will see more the cause of the Vietnam war.

  • Thanks for posting. It's an interesting topic about their older history. One thing about your analysis of the US involvement though. Wasn't this also a civil war in which Vietnamese were fighting Vietnamese? So to say it was the US alone fighting Vietnamese people then that might be a little inaccurate. The Vietnamese people were also fighting with the US.

  • US policy-makers always justified sending US troops there by saying it had to block Chinese political influence in all of Southeast Asia. I'm suggesting that the Vietnamese will do that, whichever side had won its civil war.

  • Ah, ok, I see where you are coming from. Well put.

  • One could look at the Vietnamese history and say that they were a conquered people for 1,000 years and that policy makers wanted prevent that from reoccurring. History could play into the hand of either side.

I understand the point you are making though. The Vietnamese are survivors and do not limit greatness to just the men.

It's a beautiful piece of art. I was able to visit the women's history museum in Saigon last year. Unfortunately, I do not recall seeing anything about these sisters.

  • This video is so nicely and truthfully commented by a westerner - who very knowledgeably invoked a 2000-year-old history fact to explain the US' failure in Vietnam, and to finally suggest what Americans officials should have simply done then - that makes the it more like "The best conclusion to the US-intervention in Vietnam" than "Vietnamese heroines". Thank you, Mr. lmakesnaps.

  • "If you want to kick the Chinese out of SE Asia, you just need to help the Vietnamese do it." That says a lot, doesn't it.

  • @superbrainykid yeah, Americans are stupid. as if anyone with a brain would claim Viet can contain China. it is HILARIOUS to think so today. it was just as funny back then, just people didnt know how powerful China could be.

  • @superbrainykid

lol, white americans want the viets to fight the chienese - acutally now I think about this idea - it is good for other SE Asian countries - Please fight for another 1000 years.

  • Interesting video, really nice!

  • Thanks for the reaction, I appreciate it. One general note about recent comments: there have been quite a few that made racists remarks about Vietnamese or Chinese, and I deleted them all, and will continue to if vulgar or racist language is used. If people have something positive to say, or constructive, that's great. Best!

  • Vietnamese history - many Female heroes, Trung Sisters, Lady Trieu....etc :)

  • Yes, Vietnamese women are impressive, certainly.

  • thanks for the Video brother! Peace to Vietnam and to America!

  • Dont ever underestimate the women, especially the Vietnamese women. Anything a man can do, a wonam can do too, maybe even better than men, but sometime, things that a woman can do, a man can never do.

  • I likes this man and how he said about Vn womwen.that's right in Vn ,VN women (mothers sisters) keep an important position in society and they show thier virtues in everyside of the life, especialy in war.

  • I love the way he says it "If you want to keep the Chinese out of SE Asia, you just need to help the Vietnamese do it" :) That's right. Perfectly said.

  • Agree!!

  • Thank you for seeing it the way the Vietnamese people see it! Almost all of the Vietnam War films are told from the outsider point of view - in this case 'the American officials'

  • thank for the video

  • Thank you for the video clip.

  • I appreciate your comment. Thanks.

  • this is a very nice video

  • Bravo..I`m viet..and I am 100% agree with you on your last sentence" let the viets do our job"...lol true..my ancietors fought against chinese for 1000 thousands of years...bravo..bravo..there was one quote from a really famous general" they can defeat us, but they can never destroy our spirits." and one of the worse enemies of all time is the chinese"

  • In the spirit of Crazy Horse, Death to imperialism.

  • the vietnese language,in fact ,is an chinese dialect.but after frence colonize vietnam.

  • they use alphabet and give up chinese character

  • if i recall correctly, it was the french that made the vietnamese adopt the alphabets even after vietnamese was able to adapted the chinese alphabet which made it uniquely theirs.

the upside of adopting the the alphabets is literacy in the country sky rocketed.

  • No, the Porteguese first used it to teach other Proteguese merchants Vietnamese. We Viets sharply saw this as a great advantage & used it. The French did nothing good for Vietnam except giving us another world empire we defeated.

  • see i knew i read the Portuguese taught vietnamese the roman version somewhere but i couldn't find my sources. thanks for reconfirming!

  • also im have a good feeling the french got rid of most of the resources that containing chu nom

  • We Viets simply dropped the old ineffecient writing style. The French couldn't do that in a million years.

  • vietnamese language is closely resemble cantonese. from what i found it because they two regions were close together. when you compare the three languages. vietnamese and cantonese sound the same while madarin sound different.

as you move further south, the language closely sound like other languages near them.

  • Hey, although you undoubtedly have good observation, that's not entirely true.

Vietnamese consonants sound like Cantonese or Thai, but the tones sound more Mandarin. A good example is my own name, which- when pronounced- sounds like Mandarin, and definitely not Cantonese.

  • you should make more videos please.i like ur videos and how you told the story of our great trung sisters ancestors

  • Was it President Wilson's fault to the result of Vietnam War? Well, maybe....HoChiMinh was seeking the help from the United States during President Wilson's administration, but he igored the request due to the U.S was allied with France. And France controlled IndoChina. Therefore, HoChiMinh had to turn to the Communist for help. Well, it happened for a reason. BTW, Great video and good explannation.

  • Yes, Wilson didn't have the time for Ho Chi Minh, nor did Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy. The US had its "revolution" too early; it failed to appreciate the Vietnamese need for independence. If the west wouldn't help, China and the Soviet Union would.

  • i want a painting like that..soo cool and to teriyo2 not only 1000 years vietnam has almsot 5000 years history :]

  • holy shit he has good Viet pronunciation, better than my sister

  • 1000 year of vietnam history are ancestor die 2 protect VIETNAM im ALWAY PROUD 2 BE VIETNAMESE

  • I am Vietnamese but I have never seen this painting before, where does he get that?

  • sir u r so right about the vietnamese . the US didn't have to go to Vn. but hust help like the Russian and chinese HELPED North VN.the Chinese understood the Vietnamese history more than any one else.... histories very important.

  • Very insightful :)

Not many ppl know that Vietnam was a matriarchy society. As far as I know, in every major war vietnam has ever fought, there have always been women in charge. The most recent woman I can think of is Gen.Nguyen Thi Dinh fought during Vietnam war..

Anyway, thanks for uploading this .

  • interesting. i didnt know that. our vietnamese women are great. they are very intelegent, adorable, and honesty. i love our women. they rule hahah.

  • I love this movies!

I think the US could avoid vietnam war if it had have studied about vietnamese culture !

However, 30 years after vietnam war, they make the same mistake in Iraq.WHY ?

  • Wow this guy has great pronunciation! The U.S. was the most powerful nation in the WORLD after defeating Germany and Japan WWII. Most powerful and richest country on Earth! They simply believed they could just win by pure brut military power, force, and strength. But the North Vietnamese use their Brains instead. This War was the biggest upset in U.S. History. Fall of Saigon was just Unbelievable! Even today, when ppl mention VN: Pain, Hatred, Disgrace is evoked by this War. Why? b/c We Lost!

  • Viva Vietnamese women. Other contries had female empiriors becuse they were out of prince to be king like (England), or by cunning acts and beauty like (China). Vietnam had female emporirors becuz of Courage, Mind and Love for VN.

  • 70.000 Viet Cong soldiers have taught 600.000 China´s soldiers in 4 weeks border war 2-1979 a lesson, that PLA have only tactics: huge(600.000) against tiny(70.000) but always be defeated by any tiny like Vietnam, Japan or Mongols,so PLA try to win some "very tiny" as the peaceful Tibet

God bless Tibet, free for Tibet.

  • I'm doing a Womens studies project doing a profile of women fighters including Trung Sisters

  • Great paintings, great story about the sisters Trung.

    Thank you.

  • Impressive. Thank you for making a video about the Trung sister (I read about them when I was young and they were among my favourite heroes) and about the Vietnamese resistance to occupation. I wish, as you said, that the American policymakers had read more history and drawn more conclusions. I'm deeply impressed by the skill the Vietnamese have in guerilla fighting, although I wish that they would have had no need for it.

  • very good speech lol the trung sisters was fierce

  • Well Done! Makes me pround of my heritage. The Vietnamese culture like many cultures is patriarchal, yet we value female figures. This is evident in our songs and poetry, praising mothers and sisters. Trung Trac and Trung Nhi are not the only females during their insurrection, they employed many females commanders. The Trung sisters helped define the indentity of the Vietnamese people. We have endured immense hardship throughout our history, war, occupations, and poverty.

  • Vietnamese women are simply the Best! Hard working! Smart! Very Good! Diligent! Steadfast!

  • This is my last comment! As a young boy, There were values that I was taught growing up!

    1) I Love and Respect My Parents!

    2) I Do my Homework!

    3) I Practice my martial arts to defend myself, my love ones, and my country!

Then you know you are a Vietnamese!

  • well said.

  • thanks for all the nice comments. I really appreciate all the positive feedback from you folks. It's a change for once. Most YouTubers have nothing nice to say or say the most erroneous things which has no credibility. They would write totally wrong info. I can't believe this one person. I'm not mentioning names. He embarrasses me as Viet b/c most of what he writes is so wrong. I really want to correct all his mistakes but there's too many. Please take time and do the research!

  • Powerful video, good job!!!
