  • WONDERFUL !!!

  • The rolling tube shown at 0:21 was also used in "It" starring Clara Bow.

  • He truly was a great actor and very charismatic. You could tell he really loved acting. If he were alive today and starting out in acting, he would be a big star.Talent like that is rare and we are lucky we can still watch his films.

  • Which movie is the clip at 1:30 from?

  • 1:54 O.O What is he doing with that dog?

  • Hate to be a moaner, but I think the biggest problem with videos like this, you choose totally wrong and bad music, and 9 times out of 10, the music just drowns the visual, sorry, not wanting to offend, but your music is over bearing and not fitting

  • I adore Harold Lloyd and think he is overlooked far too often. Lovely video.

  • Famous! He's the Best!!

  • oh god 1:04-1:07

    fucking loold

  • I mention Lloyd in The Celebrity Song.

  • excellent video and very nice music!

  • LOVELY!

  • 2:12 is my fav

  • kareltje kolderieke

  • Lloyd was fabulous and somehow still looks 'modern' whereas Chaplin and the rest look ancient.

  • awesome video! nice work!

  • man can he move

  • well done i love the music

  • Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin were great, but I'll take Harold Lloyd. Extremely talented.

  • a recent Chaplin fan, who made me discover the greatness of silent movies, i am just now discovering Harold. LOVE HIM. :) but i think my heart will always belong to Charlie lol

  • Great video thx 4 posting it~!

  • I love you harold Lloyd

  • Didj'all see the Turner Classic Movies Harold Lloyd Marathon yesterday? They showed all his feature films back-to-back without edits or commercials. I wish there had been more commentary from Robert Osborne however. Had it not been for Turner, I never would have seen Harold in his true glory. They show him a lot, but never Chaplin. Does anyone know whyk?

  • The Harold Lloyd marathon made me dust off the VHS recorder!

If I'm the alone ranger, so be it. However, as I was enjoying his performance, I was also falling in love with his costar, Jobyna Ralston. She poetrayed a delicious foil for his adventurings. It is wonderful to me to see women in older movies that have long gorgeous hair, and at the same time adding her sexy dynamite to the fun.

The operative word for Harold & Jobyna is "Whee!"

  • Brilliant video! The music goes so well with the clips. Love Harold Lloyd.

  • What a brilliant combination =)

  • you2begin, who is kerou? Where do I find him? I interested now.

  • Harold Lloyd is the hottest silent movie actor best known for his unusual round glasses in the movie and I love him! It sucks the fact during his lifetime there were no "new" technology as they are today that he's being shown on Youtube but I'll always enjoy watching all his movies. I see him very romantic but funny

  • Lovely video! Harold Lloyd is the only silent comedian who I think is cute on top of being funny, and that sure doesn't hurt. :-)

  • I adore this video. Great job :D

  • this guy is pretyy funny, i also like seinfeld and 30 rock and that new online cartoonist kerou. hes the best new comedy guy.

  • Also, he made them a fashion statement. Tortoise glasses were selling in huge amounts. He made it a fashion statement! He used to receive 6 glasses from the company that made them and they never cashed his checks for them. THey said they sold so many they were thankful enough so they didn't

  • His eyes were not big in comparison with the other clowns.

  • Perhaps by today's standards he wasn't but by then when people were not that tall he was tall 5 10' is tall. Also, the tortoise glasses were worn by young people back then. They were considered to be worn by studious people. He said it. The only thing I give you is that 'too mechanical' was said by Stan Laurel.

  • He was well proportionate. He was tall and slim indeed. About big eyes, I think he had an expressive face. His eyes were smaller than the other silent comedians so I think that's why he used glasses, to make them the focus to his face. His face is more like a romantic lead face rather than a comedian.

  • I always loved watching all the old Laurel and Hardy and Harold Lloyd films in the summer holidays in Wales.

Harold Lloyd was lovely. Slim figure, immaculately dressed, those big expressive eyes, lovely face. An Everyman. Someone we could all identify with. A man who's trying to get the girl and make his small mark on the world.

  • no one puts a smile on my face like harold lloyd :)

  • Oh wow, lucky you. I wasn't even born when he passed away.

  • Dear clowchan,

Thanks for the nice response. Yes, I used to see Mr. Lloyd frequently on my way to school in the morning, driving down the hill. He would be sitting in the back of a station wagon, very informally-dressed, coming-out of his mansion there on Benedict Canyon, and my father would say, "Do you know who that is?" "Yes, dad, Harold Lloyd.", I would respond. Really didn't all that much at the time. A few years later, I saw him again, at UCLA. He came to answer questions at a film class.

  • Well done! Going to the old Silent Movie Theatre in L.A. as a kid, I was never really much exposed to his work, as I was some of the others, but he was great! Here's an interesting story. Years ago, going to Beverly Hills High, we were living at the top of Benedict Canyon Road, behind the Beverly Hills Hotel. In the morning, my Dad would be dropping me off, and occasionally we would see a car, pulling out of the Lloyd estate, and there would be the old man, sitting in the back seat!

  • Thanks.

And thank you for the story. That's really awesome you got to catch a glimpse of him. :)

  • I would like to do something like this for Harold as well. What kind of software did you use?

  • Since I don't use a DVD ripper program, I had to use PowerDVD 6.0 to copy each movie frame by frame.

I use Animation Shop 3.0 to put all the frames together.

For sound from one of his movies, I used RealTek. Unfortunately it's not Vista supported.

And to put everything together I used Windows Movie Maker.

It's a very tedious task but well worth it for the end product.

    Good Luck :]

  • Fecking Brilliant.

  • Don't listen to the detractors. This is great. As a Harold Lloyd fan, for many years, (I first saw him in my teens, 30 years ago)it is just a new slant. It's great to see so many images together.

  • Thank you for the kind words :]

  • I have never been a fan of Chaplin or Keaton but Harold Lloyd brings back fond memories from my childhood and I've loved watching him again. In fact, I'm going to get his collection on dvd. While this montage doesn't show his best work it is still entertaining and well put together and the song just blew me away! I can't stop listening to it. Thanks Clow Chan for introducing me to it!

  • Thank You. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • nov5o8

    nice work.

  • Thanks

  • i love 1:17

  • Though I much prefer the scores written for the DVD collection, it was nice to see all these moments in one place. HOW did he land such realistic punches with his right hand (missing thumb and forefinger), while not really connecting with the guy's jaw? Lloyd was a minimalist whose grace was sometimes underappreciated. I think his movies had a touch of the surreal. He is just beginning to be tapped and appreciated now. What a treat. And DISHY. I'd have Harold Lloyd on toast. Come to me, baby!

  • This song is amazing. Great comination of song and video, fits well.

  • I don't know why some people are so disturbed by this video. I think it's great that you spent time making this video. THe music goes so well with it and it's not like you put HL clips to Daddy Yankee or Beyonce. That would be weird. But this music sounds very 1920's

  • I love this song it goes so well, yes! I believe the same thing crushfreaky.

  • Thanks very much :]

  • Man, the scenes and the music fit so well. Whoever made this is a genius.

    Thanks.

  • Chaplin may have more talent as a comedian/actor because he had more pathos/ sentimentalism but even mighty Chaplin had bad films as well in my opinion. Harold had better stories/screenplays and his films have better structure than Chaplin's. Also, Harold did copied a lot from Chaplin with the lonesome luke shorts. those were total ripoffs but he redeem himself with a new character.

  • i agree but i still have chaplin as a favorite but i love the thing that he does with his hair

  • harold lloyd is good but the best is charlie chaplin , and before his glasses character some people said that his lonesome luke was a chaplins tramp copy cat

  • Stop doing this...this is bad...bad...bad.

Seems The only thing U can find on Tou Tube is dubbed and homemade vids/clips with him

Bring the originals....and stop making this nonesence!!!!!

  • I don't think that's true at all. The only reason I discovered HL is because of a music video I discovered 3 or 4 years ago.

But I do respect your opinion.

  • He had all these women during his heyday even after, when he was older. Who could resist him? really...

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous (helpless, helpless, helpless. . .)Wish I weren't so out of phase with this man, he's amazing.

  • My all time favorite movies are here, Grandma's Boy, Dr. Jack, Safety Last, Why Worry?, Girl Shy, Speedy, The Freshman plus all those shorst. Harold Lloyd is the best.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • IT says right in the beginning...'mess' by Ben Folds Five.

  • I love the clips and the music! I had to buy the music and every time I hear it in my ipod, I remember this clip. They go together so well. Harold is the best!

  • Boy, he was hilarious. I gotta start renting his movies and see more! Thanks! Love the song, too.

  • Oh, love the clip from The Milky Way where you catch a glimpse of another handsome man, Lionel Stander!

Love this! What a cutie! Good job!

  • Sorry if I misunderstood you but what do mean?

  • Oops, I mean what do you mean

  • thanx so much-- i love love harold (the boy) my family really enjoy his films, he will always be my favorite..and the music choice was nice too

  • Thank You 8-)

  • whats the song say me please

  • Yeah, the more I watch this colage, the more I'm convinced this was the PERFECT song for your Harold Loyd tribute. Melancholy, sweet, thoughtful, romantic. All of it made more poignent for us today as we realize not only has the man passed on from our world, but the virtues he championed have also faded. I share this video with friends because, it is more than a silly, shallow tribute...it captures instead the feel of this sweet, energetic romantic that was Harold Lloyd.

  • Thanks :)

  • Dear Anthony: you´ve said only the truth. This was, is and will be Harold Lloyd. Generation after generation´ll love his art. Excellent music for this extraordinary artist.

  • Do you have the whole vidio for "wanted $5000"? that's my favorite Lloyd flick. that is the one with him and that giant, at :33 to :37?

I love the old silent movies. you have class to appriciate them to.

  • I have the video unfortunately the computer I currently work on doesn't record DVDs (I had to capture the whole scene frame by frame)

  • To each his/her own.

Although I don't understand how this is the downside of TouTube.

Now if you mentioned all the 'look at me, I'm super awesome' vidblogs, I would 100% agree on that.

  • I mean YouTube ^^;;

  • Harold, we miss you. Excellent music track.

  • Thanks :3

  • It was brilliant!

  • Thank You

  • Great visuals.

    Terrible Music track.

You combine brilliance (Harold Lloyd) with a second- rate pop band.

    But the visuals are fantastic.

  • Nice compilation. I have the whole Harold Lloyd life story on my channel...just incase you are interested. :-)

  • Thanks. I'll go check it out :D

  • Hello, can you tell me who the group/artist is who sings the song to this montage? We LOVE the music you chose for these clips. Harold Lloyd is awesome and you chose the perfect clips.

  • Thanks :)

The group is called Ben Folds Five.

  • brilliant..loved it. Harold Lloyd is my favourite funnyman.

  • NICE 1 RIP M8

  • thanks :)

  • I love Harold Lloyd. God lay him to rest in peace.

  • well done, i like the song too!

  • Thank you

  • Brilliant actor, very funny and classic stuff. Love the song and the edits. Very nicely put together indeed - well done poster..

  • Thanks very much :)

  • It's important for our modern generations not to forget those who have gone before. Harold was the sort of guy I would have loved to have known, I feel a bit sad watching him, for it speaks of simpler, more innocent times, and good people, the likes of which Hollywood has long lost.

  • Very good point, very nicely put. Quite agree.

  • iawtc

....however I'm glad the invention of DVDs and such media is able to save such greats like Harold and can be shown to present and future generations.

  • I agree 100%! I blame the disgusting 60s! Notice how everything was nice up into the 50s and then came the 60s and since then things have been crappy! But yes I too feel sad watching him and other silent actors! I miss those days so much I cry.

  • Not everything was so discusting in the '60's...most of my favourite bands came from that era.

What is discusting and disturbing is the current present....maybe it stemmed from that era but the 1960's events are considered much 'cleaner' than most if the things found in this era. I mean compare the music, movies, and such media between the two...at least originality still existed in the '60's.

  • Nice if you were white. I doubt youd want to ahve been black in the USA pre 1960's.

  • I agree with you, Freakazette95. I can't stand the 60's. Or 70's. That's when it all fell apart.

I'd love to have been born in the early 1900's.

As for the video, well done, ClowChan!!! (I believe I've seen you on LJ...)

    I adore Harold Lloyd!!

  • leedsunited70

Thanks. What a joy. Nice montage from the best of Lloyd's with a very nice touching music. Bravo.

  • Thank You

  • So was I right? I must be, cause you haven't answered. So I'm assuming you are in shock from me knowing them all. lol. Or I got 1 or 2 wrong and I'm just babbling like a buffoon, lol.

  • Sorry I haven't responded back *Your answers weren't showing up for some reason* I believe you got most of em 8-)

  • YAY! Hey, I actually now like the song you chose. It just took a while for it to grow on me. 8)

  • Yep and why not, right?? :)

  • Totally!! xD

  • THANK YOU! Finally someone has posted many clips of Harold! It's a FANTASTIC video except I don't like the song. Maybe something that fits with the era and Harold himself. But other than that it's perfect! And if this comment thing would let me I can name every movie each scene is from! :)

  • Hehe...give it a try :)

Shame you don't like the song but hey to each their own opinions 8-)

Thank you for the comment :D

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my clip of silent movie star tobacco cards. They include: Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Tom Mix, Jackie Coogan and many more.

  • I will go check it out...thanks for the comment
