Its the mag that causes the problems. Those proMags are hit or miss. I have had 2 the first would already give me FTF. The one I have now I have hade zero problems. I have a vid on my page shooting one for a Springfield 9 subcompact with no problems.. The magazine will be the cause of most FTF's

@CRoxxafella your slappin the trigger. Only let off the trigger till it resets. Your groups will improve significantly. You are taking your finger off the trigger between rounds, requiring you to take up all the slack each time.

Depends what kind of gun. Pistols are generally fairly light, assualt rifles vary but are fairly light, same with rifles, but light machine guns are very heavy...

Having options is always good. If a natural disaster happened like Hurricane Katrina I would want alot of 32 round magazines. Of course my primary would be my MP15 ar with my 5.11 load bearing vest but when a natural disaster happens bad things come with it, murder, rape, assualt, looting ect. @macfle01 -it's a resort kind of for gun owners, they train you with every weapon from machine guns to handguns to knives. The courses are amazing from what I've seen they sent me a dvd. They give even intense swat style training and just over all how to handle your weapon or any weapon better than most so called pros. I wanna join...I just can't afford it right now, but I will soon
the xd has a great ejection pattern, i'm liking it... looks like it has a fairly low amount of recoil also - great choice for a new firearm i'd say, but i'll have to get out and try it soon to be sure.
does that 32 round mag jam up your xd if you rapid fire? I bought one for my xd40 and would jam up.... Recommendation to use only factory mags for best performance...

It is true, it was the croatian model HD for Heavy Duty. Springfield made it the XD for Xtreme Duty. Good design but Croatia wasn't to know for firearms.
nice gun-just brought home my xd 40 sc-but have a concern. The slide release is very stiff making it difficult to release the slide at all. Did you have this issue or is there a break in period? Thanks for any help or tips-great vid!
best thing to do is treat it like a slide lock lever and not a release. i have a habit of using the slide lock to release it, but it does wear it down after a while. just rack back the slide and let it go to chamber a round i would advise
go to ur local gun smith or u can do this yourself remove the slide release completely from the gun/ place in a vice tightly/ us a blowtorch to get the part your thumb touches red hot/ use pliers and gently i mean GENTLY bend the flat part ur thumb tuches out to the desired width and thats it... i did it with mine and its wonderful
i think only the 9mm model is capiable of handleing the high cap. mag's. im investing in a xd 45acp this weekend and my shop said it only is able to take the extended 13 round clip. but if theres a bigger one im surely intersted lol.

ok, as far as the argument for different calibers... any caliber above .25 is good enough to either kill or injure the bad guy. i know this is so stupid, but i accidentally shot myself with my glock 26 9mm two days ago. OMFG one shot with just that factory ball ammo would be enough to make me stop in my tracks and rethink what i was doing. i shot my foot and broke three bones, losing a quart of blood in two hours. i can only imagine what a hollow point would have done- i trust the 9mm.

well bro I kinda feel you because I just recently went through a home invasion and I was not prepared!! Thank god nobody got hurt and I got my wife and kids out, but I bought a glock recently and i'm buying a firearm for the wife and my oldest daughter...god forbid if there is a next time, but we will be READY!! The cops are not our personal body guards and it takes a few minutes for them to get their and alot can happen in a few minutes.

definantly bro i mean the police in my neighbor hood are tied up with drug dealers and murders so they dont do as much as they could when some one commits a crime of this nature i juss feel i cant rely on them i dont wanna kill anybody but i think things would have been much different if i was prepared i wouldnt have tried to kill unless my life was threatened but i would have probably caught them and held them untill the police got there were getting a dog to proabably american pit bullies...

yeah we citizens should be prepared because the criminal element is and if they're willing to come into your home armed that's mor than enough for me to take them out. I have to protect my family!! I got 2 dogs now too lol, they are my first line of defense and the glock is the last resort.

check google you might be able to find that kit up their and or at least all the stuff you need to make your own kit. yeah it's supposed to have all the best things from the best guns out their, I love the grip safety on it...just like the 1911. definantly i see the daddy version of this gun everyday almost my bestfriends dad is the one who put me onto springfield he has a full size 45 cal. xd and the grip saftey is what originally caught my eyes he rags on me for wanting the smaller 40 cal but i just cant help it i got a similar but different taste i knew when i first saw the subcompact i was going to get one and now is a better time then ever cant wait to get everything situated my dog and guns and security cameras...

every little things helps bro yeah I can use that info and I think costco also sells a decent security camera system at least the last time I checked. I'm going to need a larger gun safe now that i'll be buying rifles, but one with a key not a keypad...can't be fuckin around with passwords in a bad situation. I'm going back to the gunshop this weekend and mess with the xd and take my wife and step daughter to the range for practice.

@macfle01 -it's a resort kind of for gun owners, they train you with every weapon from machine guns to handguns to knives. The courses are amazing from what I've seen they sent me a dvd. They give even intense swat style training and just over all how to handle your weapon or any weapon better than most so called pros. I wanna join...I just can't afford it right now, but I will soon

the xd has a great ejection pattern, i'm liking it... looks like it has a fairly low amount of recoil also - great choice for a new firearm i'd say, but i'll have to get out and try it soon to be sure.

yea , i returned my promag when it jammed up on me several times. Thats aftermarket clips for ya. WIsh Springfield would make factory 32 round mags like Glock does. Some Day I suppose.

i had one with the ati pistol-gripped folder and 2 banana mags. it was a new norinco and it would go full auto sometimes (way faster than a bumpfire). i'm in canada, so it caught their attention and the sear was fixed or something like that.

the stock for the glocks are allowed here no problem. i don't see why the u.s. banned foregrips and folders on pistols. the vz61 scorpian is allowed here with the wire stock on top...it looks weird without it.

yea it's ridiculous. with a pistol licence being $230/year. a burgger & thomet tp9 can have the folding stock and permanent foregrip here (blocked at 10rds & at a cost of $2200). however, i notice that some pistols that go for $300 bucks new here are rare in the u.s., like the norinco 1911 w/ 4.25"bbl. the sks is only $160 new here.

you need a registration card for each gun(which requires a very long annoying call to the firearms center),need the rifle/shotgun licence (p.a.l.) & a restricted tag to get pistols/restricted rifles like the 11"bbl ar-15,mp40,stg44,famae s.a.f.mini etc)they banned ak's and blank firing guns in 1998 and all .25 & .32autos. even hammerelli &benelli target .32wadcutters were banned. as of 1995 all rifles needed licencing and you also need a seperate licence to transport pistols from home to range

i wish this was allowed in canada...damn 4.14" barrels & up only rule. there is a glock 26 with a 4.2" extended barrel here, but it's $1200....OH AND THIS GOV'T. WOULD DEMAND THAT MAG BE BLOCKED AT 10RDS. shitty country when it comes to range time.

It is true, it was the croatian model HD for Heavy Duty. Springfield made it the XD for Xtreme Duty. Good design but Croatia wasn't to know for firearms.

nice gun-just brought home my xd 40 sc-but have a concern. The slide release is very stiff making it difficult to release the slide at all. Did you have this issue or is there a break in period? Thanks for any help or tips-great vid!

best thing to do is treat it like a slide lock lever and not a release. i have a habit of using the slide lock to release it, but it does wear it down after a while. just rack back the slide and let it go to chamber a round i would advise

go to ur local gun smith or u can do this yourself remove the slide release completely from the gun/ place in a vice tightly/ us a blowtorch to get the part your thumb touches red hot/ use pliers and gently i mean GENTLY bend the flat part ur thumb tuches out to the desired width and thats it... i did it with mine and its wonderful

i think only the 9mm model is capiable of handleing the high cap. mag's. im investing in a xd 45acp this weekend and my shop said it only is able to take the extended 13 round clip. but if theres a bigger one im surely intersted lol.

Back in the 90s the FBI found the average penetration of a 165gr Golden Saber was 14.35" into clothed gelatin with expansion to .66", while 147gr 9mm Golden Saber could penetrate 13.2" and expand .66". With proper bullet selection there's not a lot of actual difference to be found in wounding- and therefore stopping- potential between the two rounds, with 9mm giving you a capacity edge in small guns such as these. ok, as far as the argument for different calibers... any caliber above .25 is good enough to either kill or injure the bad guy. i know this is so stupid, but i accidentally shot myself with my glock 26 9mm two days ago. OMFG one shot with just that factory ball ammo would be enough to make me stop in my tracks and rethink what i was doing. i shot my foot and broke three bones, losing a quart of blood in two hours. i can only imagine what a hollow point would have done- i trust the 9mm.

i know im a little late here i own a springfield XD40 subcompact for my "CC" the reason why alot of depts such as cleveland (where i live) and new jersey no longer really use the 9mm and are using 40s and better is not because of hitting bystandards its because you shoot a criminal that is a big mf with a 9mm all you are going 2 do is piss him off and you will need 3 round or better to take him down now you shoot him with a 40 he is going to know he has been shot and he is going to stop and drop

thats fairly ignorant considering the actual 9mm bullet is 5/100" of an inch smaller than a .40 (.355" vs .40") I am sure that anyone shot with 147 grn federal hydra shock in 9mm will go down... lol

also, have you ever looked at the foot pound difference of energy transferred between a 147 9mm JHP and 180 grain .40cal. The difference is less than 50 pounds on many types of loads out there. Thats no big colossal difference at all.

lets not have a caliber debate. anyone that says a 9mm wont cut it apparently knows nothing about balistics. with todays improved selfdefense loads, a JHP 9mm will put someone down just as easily as a 40 or 45. the larger calibers are too much for some people. it may not be your cup of tea but dont knock it just cause u dont like it! plus with ammo prices the way they are, 9mm is a great choice!
