I went to Pittsburgh last year on vacation, and my dad and I saw Mellon Arena after its last season. I have never been inside of Mellon Arena, but let me tell you something, despite her age, the Igloo was a cool looking arena. Sad to see it end up with a loss against the first team we ever played. Still though, we've had great memories from the 1990 All Star game, and the time we won our first trip to the Stanley Cup 20 years ago against a great Boston Bruins team.
I remember going to the Civic Arena in 1964 to a very large Hot Rod show. It was great. Who could forget sunrise services there, on Easter Sunday mornings. It will be missed. What is next? Kennywood?
