You simply can't be serious. Is legality not precisely the issue at hand? Didn't you make this video to support the legalization of something that is not currently legal? My state still has anti-sodomy laws on the books that would render even the act of homosexuality illegal. Does this mean that you should abandon the cause of Gay marriage because its currently illegal? Do you even recognize how ridiculous a comment you just made? I think you need to get over your polygamophobia.
jjkickerk, I made this video when Prop 22 was overturned and gay marriage WAS legal in CA. When a group of self righteous conservatives decided that they didn't want to share the word marriage with the gay community so they wrote discrimination into our state's Constitution. I made it to not only honor the 14th amendment promising all citizens equal protection under the law, but to honor Jesus who said Love your Neighbor as Yourself and Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Point taken. But you have to admit, the gay rights movement in general is about legalizing something that is current illegal, right? I mean gay marriage is currently only legally recognized in a few states, correct? So according to your argument about polygamy, those states in which gay marriage is not currently legal should be under no obligation to legalize it. Is that your position?
It used to be illegal for women to vote. It used to be illegal for a black person to vote or use the same restroom as a white person. It used to be illegal for different races to marry. It used to be illegal to drive faster than 55 on our highways. Lots of things used to be illegal that are no longer such. I vote for progress. Unless you are a racist, woman hater , homophobe I would think you would want our country moving forward too, not backwards.
So the legalization of anything that is currently illegal is progress under your definition? If so, then no, I wouldn't always vote for progress. Can we just go ahead and admit that the illegality argument against polygamy just doesn't hold? If not, please explain why you would label the legalization of same-sex marriage as "progress", but would not apply the same label to the legalization of polygamous marriage.
Since nothing I say will ever convince you that TWO, count them TWO, people of the same sex who are in love with each other and want to commit legally to one another is their right under the constitution, I'm not going to continue going off on these tangents with you. Just admit you're homophobic and be done with it already.
I apologize if anything I've said has offended you, that certainly wasn't my goal. Believe it or not, I am genuinely curious to hear the opinions of those on your side of the issue with regard to things like polygamy. The reason I'm interested is that from my personal perspective, I see polygamy and gay marriage in precisely the same way. I don't hate polygamous people, I'm not particularly scared of them, and I wouldn't call myself a "polygamophobe" so to speak.
But I also personally believe that marriage should be between two people only. My views on gay marriage are the same. I don't hate or even look down on gay people. I wouldn't consider myself a "homophobe". But I also personally believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. And, to be honest, I'm kind of tired of people trying to vilify and degrade me for that. Can you at least see where I'm coming from?
I don't, and it's because I know that marriage is not something that only the religions that stem from Judaism own, these churches have no monopoly over the word marriage. If you look it up, marriage is the union of two people. The Judo-Christian faiths define it as a man, and a woman. So tell me, if my friend who is an atheist, and another friend who is Aboriginal want to get married, and they're gay. They can't because a religion that they don't follow thinks they own marriage?
Point taken. But you have to admit, the gay rights movement in general is about legalizing something that is current illegal, right? I mean gay marriage is currently only legally recognized in a few states, correct? So according to your argument about polygamy, those states in which gay marriage is not currently legal should be under no obligation to legalize it. Is that your position?
They should have to legalize it because it violates human rights. It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. The Bill of rights protects people from having other groups impose their religions on them. Gay marriage being illegal violates their human rights. Do you get it?
Also, did you know that there's a group of citizens gaining signatures on a petition for a ballot measure in 2010 that will outlaw divorce? Sounds ridiculous huh? Well, it's just about as ridiculous as all the arguments made how granting gay couples the right to marry will lead to polygamous marriage. The argument doesn't hold water. It's apples and oranges.
So how do you explain what we're seeing in Canada right now? They have gone ahead and recognized gay marriage on the national level, and now there are several movements currently underway to legalize polygamy. Is that merely a coincidence?
Then how do you explain the polygamous marriage movements currently underway in countries that have fully recognized gay marriage? Canada, for example.
Let me ask you an honest question. Given the argument you presented in the video, would you be opposed to the legalization of polygamous marriage? Suppose there were a proposition in your state that sought to remove the numerical limit of 2 people from the definition of marriage. If the law passes, then groups of any size (up to, lets say, ten or so) can enter into marriage together as a group. Would you vote yes or no for such a proposal? Why or why not?
You forget that polygamy is illegal so your question is benign and baseless. So is bestiality and pedophilia so you can't use those arguments either. Your only course of action is to get over your homophobia and then you can quit trying to make insidious arguments against same sex marriage.
I wholly agree with you, bestiality, pedophilia, and polygamy are all conscious choices. Where homosexuality is linked to the genes, hormones, and environment of a child. The genes that determine whether your gay or not, play more of a role than those which determine whether or not your right or left handed. Being gay is not a choice, the government making laws that persecutes someone for being born gay, is the same as laws against being black. It's ridiculous.
Mormon scripture is silent on homosexuality. LDS leaders have been wrong in the past on Blacks and the Priesthood so they could very well be wrong on gays only the future will tell. I think that divorce is a much bigger threat to holy matrimony than gay marriage ever will be
I agree with you. I also have heard the option about government staying out of marriage all together and calling all legal unions both hetero and homosexual civil unions and let churches perform the "marriage" ceremony. I just don't think it's a feasible option. I think ALL people deserve to be treated equally, and one day soon they will be. And you are definitely right about divorce being the bigger threat to marriage than gay couples.
100% agree, and if only religious institutions performed "marriages" the if a different Faith felt it was right to marry gay people the LDS Church would have no say in it. That would be the right thing and of course it is never going to happen but it should influence our way of thinking.
Powerful message and so true. Same sex marriage doesn't take anything away from heterosexual marriage. Two people in love and commited to caring for each other is just that. Two people in love.
Sexual orientation is something we are born with - we don't choose it. What is the difference between two men or women in a committed relationship choosing to making sure their other half is legally taken care of and and a heterosexual couple doing the same thing? Nothing.
I have not only studied both sides equally I used to be on the other side of this issue. My eyes and heart have now been open to the truth. And I came to this heart centered truth all on my own, without research or being led. What a liberating day it was when I disengaged from the collective consciousness of right-wing propaganda that lines the pockets of churches rather than creating a better planet for us all.
Right-wing propaganda? Yet you send me a link to a gay penguin video. Most of the scientific world laughs at this so called "Gay Animal" research.
I suggest you talk to a doggie shrink. Dog psychology is probably the most advanced field in Animal Behavior. Gay activists are quick show Rex humping Fido to prove their point but behaviorists explain that it's Rex asserting dominance NOT gay love! Fido licks Rex not as a sign of affection but submission. Rex only humps to prove he's the leader.
i am so glad to heart that we in the gay community need the support of people like u to help us get our rights so on the behalf of the entire community thank you
There are many studies; the APA uses some to claim gay parenting wont affect kids, yet the findings actually show that the kids are between 4 and 10 times more likely to develop a same-sex preference than hetero children (varies by study). But thats never mentioned in the summary. Google gay parenting sociologists USC , also Trayce Hansen, Ph.D. for starters. Eliminate bias-look at the Data not the summary. There is more evidence every day that homosexuality develops; youre not born that way.
Prop 8, now part of the CA Constitution supports marriage for ALL regardless of distinction & grants access to the institution of marriage for ALL citizens equally! ANY legal adult in California can be married regardless of sexual orientation. NO adult in California may call a relationship marriage unless it is an exclusive relationship with another adult of the opposite sex who is not a close relative. Defining marriage does not exclude any group of people; it applies equally for all groups.
putting a side the main isssue, you are so talented. with only a few paper to read down below, you do a great anchoring. not many people have this talent. I see you has a very intelligent, highly educated person. I don't know if I agree or disagree but i just came here some how, and found your great talent in video blogging.
you should do more like these in other issues as well, because even without the TelePrompTer, you do well!
Wow, in browsing through the comments, I have come to know that you are not only a good and beautiful person, but are also an intelligent and respectful debater.
A good comment to offset the bad.
This video is wonderful. It clearly shows exactly how much harm bigotry rationalized by scripture can do. Thanks for posting.
WOW - back;-) Thanks for such a kind comment. The debating though is starting to give me a head-ache since I have have to try and control what I'd really like to be saying;-)
I personally would vote yes to Prop 8 because I think it is not right for the same sex to get married. the way i see it is that theyre are no other animals in the animal kingdom that mate with the same sex, why should we? To me thats going against nature.
I hate to break this to you but I used to have a female dog named Shilo. She had a litter of puppies and we decided to keep the runt of the litter, another female. When she was about 2 years old mom and daughter started trying to mate on a regular basis. It happens frequently in the animal kingdom. The only difference between heterosexuals and homosexuals is their gender attraction. Other than that they are tax paying, law abiding citizens, who love, laugh, cry, work, volunteer, etc.
eagle: You're not very well informed. There are MANY instances of homosexuality among animals. Do some research! That said, I'm always amused by people who use "nature" or "animals" as the standard for humans, when it serves their point of view, and then not, when it doesn't. We could list a number of ways your logic fails. And by the way, I take it you don't use umbrellas, as they are against nature. Get a grip!
I'm sorry but you apparently don't agree with the millions and millions of gay/lesbians who have to fight just so they can live to see their wife or husband everyday I'm just like you and I agree with the homosexuals out there and I would love to wake up one morning get on yt and see my friends who are homosexuals together and are happy to be together for all you yes on prop 8 what ya'll did to the homosexuals is wrong ya'll took away their freedom to get married and that was wrong of you.
you should be ashamed of yourself, lady. why did you leave your church? because you lost your love for God? because you rather turn to a sinful lifestyle than respect His word? you disgust me.
whats judgeful about protecting the marriage? ever heard the scripture saying that man lying with another man is commiting a sinful act? does it not get to you that homosexual lifestyle is a sin? what dont you understand?
You're not protecting marriage, you are judging homosexuals based on your interpretation of a book written by mortal men. You cannot persecute gays in one breath and follow the clear admonition by the Savior to Love Your neighbor. The 2 are incompatible. So if you choose to judge rather than love you are committing sin. but I'm sure your pride won't allow you to see it that way - (which by the way is another sin.)
You could have looked at prop 8 from a different and hateless perspective towards Christians, like simply caring and defending our values, which marriage takes a part in. Ofcourse you dont hate anyone, but it is not about hate here, lady. It's about the marriage and standing for whats right. Marriage between same sex couples is one of the things that is not only immoral but an abomination to our Lord.
Once you learn to user proper English when you write I'll consider unblocking you, but for now, it's too hard to wrap my mind around your thinking, let alone your grammar.
You need to reevaluate yourself and look beyond the homosexual brainwashing bigotry that exists against religion, and maybe you will notice several disgusting ways that they use to ridicule the church.
I am a sinner.. just like yourself, but I am trying to be the best Christian that I can. Unfortunately, it is not possible in this liberal nation. That's why I will answer in front of Him for my sins. I advise you to evaluate your lifestyle and accept God and His word for what it is.
Hmmm - Let me see -- homosexual brainwashing bigotry?? We have human beings whose only difference to heterosexuals is their same gender attraction and ALL they want is to be seen as equals - to be able to marry the person they love. Now...we have religious zealots who want to tell them they aren't equal or as good as them so they must be kept on the fringes. Who are the brainwashed bigots here? Please for the sake of our country and planet - USE YOUR BRAIN!
If Jesus said "cleave unto his wife", He would no doubt offer such a person as you mention the possibility of healing and/or forgiveness. If one believes God sets absolutes, his statement doesn't open the door to remove homosexuality from His list as a sin. God bless you.
I realize the thought police won't let certain messages through that go against their point of view, but Christ did say a man should "cleave unto his wife", not his boyfriend.
Homosexual "theologians" have their way around it, but if Christ said it, you call the sinner out of their sin. Forgive them as they repent of that sin and leave it. There's no intolerance in Christ doing that.
I respect you for honoring your beliefs, I really do. I simply wish that that you could explain in rational terms how gay marriage would hurt straight marriage. Just one reason in the here and now and not simply "God says so." And do you know by whom and when the bible was written?
Those with heterosexual marriages won't be hurt. It's simply that society, with rare exceptions, has defined marriage as between those of opposite sexes, to a great extent to raise future generations.
My opposition to homosexual "marriage" comes from deeply-held religious beliefs, and by the knowledge that people have changed. Plus, Christ NEVER gave the ok for homosexual unions, witness his statement "cleave unto his wife".
They have no wife to cleave unto, along with all the other men that never marry for one reason or another that aren't gay. so if men have been commanded to cleave unto their wife, are they breaking God's law if they have no wife?
I wonder what Jesus would have told someone if they had asked him "what about those of us who were born with only same sex attraction - must we live our lives lonely and unhappy?" Perhaps someone did and that information was conveniently omitted from the published work. I can see your mind is steeped in religious ideology and probably won't open to a greater more compassionate idea of our existence, so it's been nice debating, but I'm done for now. Blessings to you.
And the Bible was written over a period of thouands of years, with the New Testament written mainly by those who knew Jesus, and within either a few years after His death and resurrection and up to about 100 years after that point. The New Testament also says that holy men of old wrote, inspired by God, His Holy Spirit.
Yes, men wrote the words, but they were inspired by God's Holy Spirit, with truths that remain absolute for all generations.
I'm not even close to a biblical scholar but from what I've read from those who are, the 4 Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John who speak of Jesus were written about 2 hundred years after His death. and were based simply on stories that had been passed down. Have you ever played the game telephone? If so, you know how gossip gets distorted. Also at the time there was a great hierarchy that had much to gain by controlling people through fear of a vengeful god.
The oldest, or earliest-written, book in the NT is James, written by the brother of Jesus around 45 AD. The oldest book is the Book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John, a disciple of Jesus, a round the year 95.
PBS has had numerous liberal theologians who claim much later dates, but most theologians for years have agreed that contemporaries of Jesus, who lived during his lifetime, wrote the NT.
And I'm certain those conservative scholars are also the ones who claim the earth is 6000 years old although it's been proven otherwise. Everyone, including me, collects evidence to support our views, and we will always find someone whose ideas are more in alignment with ours. In the final analysis the only thing that matters is, did we do more good than harm in our life? The harm that's been inflicted on good people over the centuries because of the bible can in no way be viewed as good.
I'll agree much harm has been done in the name of God. Far less, though, than in the name of Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Castro or any of a number of atheistic politicians.
Christians in Great Britain led the fight for abolition. Harvard was founded as a school of divinity.
If a theologian suddenly comes along with a biblical interpretation that contradicts centuries of scholarship, I'd question his motives.
I guess I'll continue the debate;-) Here's a quote from Hitler "... I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews. I am doing the Lord's work." And what about Constantine, the crusades, the inquisition, the witch trials? Hundreds of thousands of people tortured and killed all in the name of God. Debates like the one I'm having with you have given me greater respect for atheists. With no religious baggage they are free to make the world a better place.
I agree with you about the Crusades. It was a terrible injustice, done in the name of Christ. It doesn't invalidate all the good that Christians have done through the centuries.
And Hitler was certainly no Christian and was on his own crusade.
As for atheistic regtimes like Stalin's, Mao's, Castro's, Pol Pot's? One has to admit that ungodly people have done more than their share of evil, too. Not all atheists are that way, obviously. But not all Christians are like the Crusaders, either.
Sure. Christ used it when talking on divorce. But who's divorcing? People of the same sex, or opposite sex? You claim there's no verse that prohibits homosexuality. Supposing that were the case. Can you provide one that allows homosexuality?
And it seems there are people who are tolerant of views that only agree with their own, while others they disagree with shouldn't be allowed. Sad.
Just give it time. Once gay marriage is approved and society hasn't been destroyed we'll begin to understand that the true message of Christ was simply to love one another.
I will seriously take that into consideration. I'll just have to work on my gag reflex so I don't throw up while doing it. I know that's mean. I'm trying to be nice and understand ALL of God's children. But the hate that comes from that group is difficult to stomach.
It's not even so much their message that bothers me, but the hatred and anger that radiates from them whenever you see them being interviewed or anything. Life is too short to be so angry with the world all the time.
imromancatholic, I won't embarrass you by giving you a complete lesson on biblical scholarship, but it is worth pointing out that your reference from 1cor did not contain the word homosexual until 1947. The original greek word malicoi or arsenocoites actually refers to male temple prositutes used in pagan rituals. The other word translates "morally soft" This text is about condemnation of idolatry and pagan temple worship, not homosexuality.
Carnaco2, are you a man? If so, then if everybody is born heterosexual and some of us "choose" to be gay, then the only reason you are straight is because you continually resist your urge to screw other men, right?
chrisehogan--We all develop certain tastes or are exposed to certain temptations which we all have a choice to take part in. Some are tempted by booze or drugs and give in. Others don't give in.
Some are tempted to engage in a homosexual lifestyle. Some give in, others don't.
Oh, puleeeeeese STOP with this ignorant illusion. Homosexuality is a character trait - not a character flaw, and once small minded people can understand that the more enlightened our society will become. Now go think it through.
I'm not gay, nor have I ever been inclined to be such. But I see the souls of those who are. They are no different than heterosexuals except in their same sex attractions. Can you imagine being told that in order to be accepted by society or loved by God you had to change your opposite sex attraction? God doesn't ask us to be unhappy and neither should we require that of others to fit our own distorted view of scripture..
1 cor 6 9. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10. nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God
Very very well put, I think you are an incredible lady. Your message is one that stands for freedom and equality. What courage it took for you to stand up to the LDS church to do the right thing. I understand that struggle and that battle regarding choosing LDS Church or Equality and Freedom the price is very high, but I beleive it is worth it. God Bless you, don't ever stop taking a stand for the Freedom and Equality, we need more people like you in this world.
Thank you for the feedback. I am standing up to all churches that promote unloving acts in the name of God, not just the Mormons. It does feel good however to have broken free of the spell of relgion.
Okay, so in all fairness let's take equal rights away from anyone who has sex before marriage, or who has an affair, anyone who loves money or worships anything other gthan God, anyone who drinks, and anyone who swindles law abiding citizens out of the true joy God promised them. Oh, but that would include you. Hummm...what a dilemma. Now get over yourself and quit being so pious.
This message completely ignores people like me. I was once on the other side of this issue. I could have given this statement back in 2004, when gay marriage became legal in Massachusetts. I was thrilled, probably more than many. However, I have looked at all sides of this issue now, and I side with the yes on prop 8 crowd. I'm not being blinded or told not to think outside the box- in fact, my believing the way I do is the first time I HAVE thought outside the box my entire life.
Then you my friend have been decieved. What master you are serving? The master Jesus Christ never mentions homosexuality, loved ALL people, and taught only love, not piousness and self righteousness. People who are born homosexual deserve love, companionship and comittment as well as all the rights and privileges straight people have. Prohibiting them from this right does nothing to promote well being or harmony in a society. Denying gays equal rights is what is harming society! Wake-up!
Jesus also said, quoting Genesis said that "a man shall leave his parents and cleave unto his wife".
Homosexuals make claims of being born homosexual but provide no valid scientific studies that show there's a "gay gene". It's as if they're afraid science will one day say there is no such thing, and they're left out there trying to explain how they "feel" they were born that way. Scares them, I'm sure.
ok U kno what i respect U and i kno what UR saying,U have your opinions & i have mines! drjyates shouldnt B posting that rude comment because thats truely immiture, i assume U alredy kno about the lds churches and about prop 8! but what some ppl dont get that prop 8 is and still will always be a big issue in the world and i myself being a lds person takes prop 8 seriously and i personnaly think that its a good thing it passed its better for the ppl and our church and our children in the future!
Yes, 52% of the people have spoken, but the majority doesn't always get it right, in fact, they usually don't the first few times. Eventually hearts and minds are opened to truth and more people see the light. It will happen - soon.
The younger generation has also spoken and they said enough with biggotry 60% said no to prop 8. Prop 8 is just a cancer to society that needs to be removed, and it will
are you serious! you gonna spend 10min talking about prop 8! i think we all know what prop 8 is about! shoooo! heller!
how you gonna be a mormon and come on youtube and put mormons on blast! you should already kno that the church didnt put any money into prop 8! families should be protected and man and women should me married thats what god created right! read the bible again! (king james) version!
LOL. I AM choosing the right way, the one where Jesus commanded us to Love our neighbor, NOT to judge, and to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Would you like to be prevented from being legally with the person you love? Denying loving same gender couples equal rights is far from what our loving Savior taught. Get over your homophobia, and follow Christ's example. Have a beautiful Holiday:-)
I'm no longer Mormon, but I still love the people, just disagree with the prejudice. Can you tell me 1 way that gays having the right to legally marry will hurt the family? Seriously, just 1 way.
This is the double standard ot these pro-Gay/pro-Liberal Holywood agenda. When Gore won the popular vote (meaning by majority), they were mad and they even wanted a COnstitutional amendment to do away with the Electoral College. Now that the MAJORITY of Californians, Mormons and non-mormons voted for Prop 8, they want to repel the popular vote. Please make up your mind people.
You know you're right. Just like what's going to happen when gays finally get the right to marry because the vote will be found unconstitutional - again. The conseratives will find a way, just like they did after prop 22 was overturned, to cry fowl. We are all just a bunch of babies trying to grow up and do what's right for everyone, including same gender couples who want equal rights to marry the person they love.
God has created us to experience happiness while on earth. True happiness comes only through doing His will. Homo sexuality is NOT His will,in spite of all the protestations or representations to the contrary. It is an illusion and a counterfeit. See Isa 5:20-21.Wickedness never was happiness. In regards to the absence of biblical references to homosexual relations conduct, there are some things that are so obviously immoral and ungodly that they need no comment! A hard truth for some to accept.
I agree that God has created us for happiness. I can't imagine Him creating homosexuals and then expecting them to be denied happiness. I agree there are some things ungoldy and immoral, and some things heteros do fall into that category as well as homosexuals. However, two people who feel and know God's love and want to spend their lives together who just happen to be gay, I don't believe falls into that category. The illusion is our fear of what we don't understand.
This is where faith becomes so important. Believing (in His word)even though we do not understand or agree. We need to have the faith to believe that He is perfect and that His ways are not our ways and neither are our ways His ways. My views re homosexual relations are based upon what has been revealed in scripture and it will be wrong for us to condone or tolerate what has been adjudged as unacceptable to God.People don't "happen to be gay" they BECOME gay by submission and commission.
And that is your perception and interpretation, which I honor and respect, I just don't happen to agree with it. It's not what I want, it's what I believe is God's will for us, and that is to judge not, and love our neighbors as ourselves, and if there are those who are out of alignment with His love, he will take care of it. It's not our job. But I do understand your beliefs and that you heart is in the right place, which is actually the most important thing. God's mysteries are great.
I AM A PROUD ASS HOLE GET IT RIGHT GAY IS NOT A CHOICE IT'S WHAT YOUR SICC MIND MAKE YOU THINK THAT and i am tried of people saying they where born gay so you saying god made in perfect people i don't think so.... CONGRADULATIONS ON THE PEOPLE WHO CAME OUT AND VOTE THE RIGHT WAY WHICH WAS yes on 8 and i mean that.one man and one woman let god plan it.. I KNOW YOU GOING TO LASH OUT ON MY COMMENTS SO WHAT I DON'T CARE
Oh the sophistry of the philosophies of the ignorant.Your alleged belief in the Saviour is at best subjective and at worst a convenient ploy to give credibility to your otherwise distorted perspective/comment of divine truth. It's not what YOU believe that matters,it is, is it TRUTH? Sadly, your views are in contravention of the will of God NOT only as espoused by the(LDS)Church, but by God himself. So it's YOUR opinions vs GOD's TRUTH... As for me and my house ....I know who I will follow.
I recognize the delusion in both our ways of thinking. God's creations of which we are all a part, are perfect, it is only our perceptions that divide us from Him. It is the Atonement of our brother that heals us in every way. When we recognize that as a creation of God we are one with Him, we can feel His full love and offer it to others without judgment or guilt. My video was a projection of my fear. I have changed.I recognize in you your divinity and your onesness with God and our Savior.
It is my belief that God, in His perfect expression of love for us,does not condone a sinner's actions yet still loves the sinner. Opponents of P8 were quick to criticise proponents accusing them of bigotry, intolerance, bible-thumping and homophobia. They were un-able/willing to accept that while I and millions of others, abhor homo-sexual behaviour it doesn't mean that we abhor gay people. The P8 legalisation of such gay rights would however "legally" force me to accept/condone what is immoral
Gay marriage would not hurt you, your marriage or family (except in your thinking). But gay people ARE hurt over your decision not to allow them full happiness. The only thing being forced is the idea that homosexuality is abhorent to God. Why does Jesus Christ never mention homosexuality? There are only a few vague references to it in the bible, yet so many people use those references to justify persecuting others rather than "judge not", "love your neighbor" and "do unto others"?
Treating gays like 2nd class citizen is wrong. Whether gay or straight, we are all human beings created, loved and wanted by the same Creator God. However, it is not for us humans to decide which "orientation" is right or wrong. It's God's right only. The God of the Bible has very clearly made his point in condemning a gay lifestyle (see Romans 1). My advice to all people, be they gay or straight, is to agree with God in the issue and obey the Creator. God's hates sin notr does he favor people.
God loves all His creations, of which we are. Why would he create something that He does not favor? When we understand our oneness with Him we will heal the separation which has us in fear of Him. We are of Him. He loves us, we need only recognize that.
Only a hamdful of countries in the world have same-sex marriage (a handful of others have civil unions). To me this is more about politics than human rights.
It's interesting how our world is evolving. Never before in history have gays tried to fight for their rights. It's time! For centuries they have taken their place as 2nd class citizens due to the homophobic rhetoric being spewn about by bible thumpers. A New Age is being ushered in where people are taking their power back from those who would oppress them. This is a great age to be alive.
Dear FreedomAintFree1: Equating Gay Marriage to beatility is as ridiculous as thinking that a straight person would find an animal of the opposite gender sexually attractive. Gay marriage is about the love between two consenting adults.
If the definition of marriage had not changed black and white people would not be able to marry in 16 states, or more by now. It is not about a label, it is about equal rights. Separate but equal does not work. Civil unions do not give the same rights.
Oh my gosh, the delusion just continues. Some strange twisted perceptions that only exist in the mind and some people insist on perpetuating these delusions, these theories without any basis in fact. History teaches us that the only way a civilization can thrive is where tolerance of our differences exists. Without that we end up burning witches, having slaves, and torturing Christians. Is that what you want freedomaintfree1?
You're right - no one will die, but if someone does die that's in a same sex civil union they won't get SS benefits or other survivor beneifts, like heterosexual couples get.
In hospitals if you're a family member you can get updates on sick loved ones. Without the designation of legal spouse, you may not.
It would work to make all marriages civil unions first, regardless of gender With exactly the same state and federal benefits across the board...Continued
continued...Children won't be taught about ANY marriage. We're talking about straight or gay marriage, not marriage with a human and a pet, or incestual marriage, or other ridiculous arguments. Schools in CA will not required to teach about gay marriage, but if some do, it will require parents consent. I personally don't have a problem with it.Most gay people are just as moral and decent as heterosexuals. It's our homophobic fear that tell us otherwise. Tolerance for our diversity is good.
I forgot to add about the legal civil unions first for all wanting to marry regardless of gender, and then leaving churches and relgions the descresion of offering the cermony to whom they want.
And....young children learning about gay marriage will no more influence them to become gay than teaching them evolution and have them abandon the idea of God. If a child is born gay, there's not much you or anyone else can do to change that. The best thing to do is to love and accept them for who they are regardless of your personal beliefs. Gay is just another diverse and colorful human life-form that God created. Try to understand that and your fears may diminish. Peace friend.
Buddyboy55...No one is obligated to respect what they don't agree with. Not you or me. This is a basic principle of free speech and diversity of thought.
LGBT allies obviously will not and should not tolerate voters' attacks on their very personal and precious freedoms. If someone voted to take your rights away because they felt there was something fundamentally wrong with you, would you tolerate or respect their views?
Go on with your ways if you must, but don't expect others to agree!
You are an incredible mother to support your children, I am a lesbian. I have memories of my Mormon babysitter. She was an incredible woman. She lived in poverty working double time as a single mother trying to support her large family. The Church supported her. I value the gifts the Church offer, and yet, here I am, a lesbian, with so much sorrow. I have a broken heart. A perfect day, would be the day that we all can celebrate the beauty of the Spirit amongst all.
It is indeed sad what a church that has done so much good in the world, could colude with others churches and do so much damage with this kind of political agenda. I hope they can open their hearts and seek forgiveness for the part they played in perpetuating myths and homophobic ideas.
Shut up old lezbian bitch... don't try and act straight look at your damn hair. fags should not be able to ruin the sacred mariage between "MAN AND WOMAN". Gay is wrong don't be mad cause the lds church doesn't support it.
Prop 8 is about being a stupid, uneducated jackass bigot. It's about not minding one's own business. It's about fear. It's about lies...lies spewed by churches in TV ads claiming that teachers will be forced to teach homosexuality to children.
Prop 8 is about the exploitation of children by religious institutions.
Are you proud? Are you proud enough to wear a shirt around that says "I support Prop 8"??
Most of all, Prop 8 is about being a complete fucking coward.
Thank you for your video! I wish more people around the world had the maturity to understand the true meaning of living and letting live. All these funds could be put to such better use...again, if people could only see that everyone is made by God, and he wouldn't discriminate among his children: straight, gay, or any other beautiful variety of God's creation.
I wish your loved ones understand your message and support you in your and our efforts to bring peace to baseless conflicts. Thank you.
im a heterosexual female too...the biggest problem in this world is religion...religion kills the mind, makes you narrow minded and sadly grows hate in the heart.....
And what's even sadder is that those who it changes don't even recognize what's happening to them. They are so caught up in the spell of religion they can't separate out their own hearts and minds.
If you let gays marry you MUST let couples marry each other, you also must let a man marry as many women as he wants to. You also must let 6 women all marry each other, cousins can marry cousins, brothers marry sisters, people marry their pets if they want to. Even MORE stupid is equating homo marriage with interracial marriage - DUMB. Don't let evil propagandize YOU! THINK! If you let homos marry you must ALLOW any type of marriage, no matter HOW disgusting or filthy!
Oh my you must have gone to some top-knotch schools and uni's to be so intellectual and educated. All people should have the right too marry, it's just that simple.. come on I'm sure you can be SIMPLE, your comment sure say's your can be.
Latinskinz, what is this infatuation you have with beastiality? You equate two people of the same gender getting married with people marrying animals? Are you honestly this dense, or is this just an act? I would looooove to hear your logic concerning your assertions. You DO know what "logic" is, right?
David's bad choice, nor his relationship with his father does not make Prop 8 wrong.
It's not about discrimination. It's about right and wrong.
The things you are saying are a lie are in fact true. If you don't think that a photographer could be sued for saying no to a wedding just because they are gay, you are naïve.
Yes, this can be the start of taking away your freedoms.
Now here is something very interesting,gigman7, knowing right and wrong depends on the different perspectives of the various cultures and tradicions of each individuals. We as individuals cannot base our lives, cultures, religion or non religions plus tradicions on one outdated book only a few groups fanatically acknowledge as true with accordance to their believes.
It is mentioned many times in the Bible. That is the spoken word of God. God destroyed Saddam and Gomorrah for this very reason. Jesus also refers back to it many times.
i love you Janonda.... thank you.

I think you need to get over your polygamophobia.
jjKickerK 2 years ago
jjkickerk, I made this video when Prop 22 was overturned and gay marriage WAS legal in CA. When a group of self righteous conservatives decided that they didn't want to share the word marriage with the gay community so they wrote discrimination into our state's Constitution. I made it to not only honor the 14th amendment promising all citizens equal protection under the law, but to honor Jesus who said Love your Neighbor as Yourself and Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
janonda42 2 years ago
Point taken. But you have to admit, the gay rights movement in general is about legalizing something that is current illegal, right? I mean gay marriage is currently only legally recognized in a few states, correct? So according to your argument about polygamy, those states in which gay marriage is not currently legal should be under no obligation to legalize it. Is that your position?
jjKickerK 2 years ago
It used to be illegal for women to vote. It used to be illegal for a black person to vote or use the same restroom as a white person. It used to be illegal for different races to marry. It used to be illegal to drive faster than 55 on our highways. Lots of things used to be illegal that are no longer such. I vote for progress. Unless you are a racist, woman hater , homophobe I would think you would want our country moving forward too, not backwards.
janonda42 2 years ago
So the legalization of anything that is currently illegal is progress under your definition? If so, then no, I wouldn't always vote for progress. Can we just go ahead and admit that the illegality argument against polygamy just doesn't hold? If not, please explain why you would label the legalization of same-sex marriage as "progress", but would not apply the same label to the legalization of polygamous marriage.
jjKickerK 2 years ago
Since nothing I say will ever convince you that TWO, count them TWO, people of the same sex who are in love with each other and want to commit legally to one another is their right under the constitution, I'm not going to continue going off on these tangents with you. Just admit you're homophobic and be done with it already.
janonda42 2 years ago
janonda,
I apologize if anything I've said has offended you, that certainly wasn't my goal. Believe it or not, I am genuinely curious to hear the opinions of those on your side of the issue with regard to things like polygamy. The reason I'm interested is that from my personal perspective, I see polygamy and gay marriage in precisely the same way. I don't hate polygamous people, I'm not particularly scared of them, and I wouldn't call myself a "polygamophobe" so to speak.
jjKickerK 2 years ago
But I also personally believe that marriage should be between two people only. My views on gay marriage are the same. I don't hate or even look down on gay people. I wouldn't consider myself a "homophobe". But I also personally believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. And, to be honest, I'm kind of tired of people trying to vilify and degrade me for that. Can you at least see where I'm coming from?
jjKickerK 2 years ago
I don't, and it's because I know that marriage is not something that only the religions that stem from Judaism own, these churches have no monopoly over the word marriage. If you look it up, marriage is the union of two people. The Judo-Christian faiths define it as a man, and a woman. So tell me, if my friend who is an atheist, and another friend who is Aboriginal want to get married, and they're gay. They can't because a religion that they don't follow thinks they own marriage?
janaoo4 1 year ago

jjKickerK 2 years ago
They should have to legalize it because it violates human rights. It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. The Bill of rights protects people from having other groups impose their religions on them. Gay marriage being illegal violates their human rights. Do you get it?
janaoo4 1 year ago
Also, did you know that there's a group of citizens gaining signatures on a petition for a ballot measure in 2010 that will outlaw divorce? Sounds ridiculous huh? Well, it's just about as ridiculous as all the arguments made how granting gay couples the right to marry will lead to polygamous marriage. The argument doesn't hold water. It's apples and oranges.
janonda42 2 years ago
So how do you explain what we're seeing in Canada right now? They have gone ahead and recognized gay marriage on the national level, and now there are several movements currently underway to legalize polygamy. Is that merely a coincidence?
jjKickerK 2 years ago
Then how do you explain the polygamous marriage movements currently underway in countries that have fully recognized gay marriage? Canada, for example.
jjKickerK 2 years ago
Let me ask you an honest question. Given the argument you presented in the video, would you be opposed to the legalization of polygamous marriage? Suppose there were a proposition in your state that sought to remove the numerical limit of 2 people from the definition of marriage. If the law passes, then groups of any size (up to, lets say, ten or so) can enter into marriage together as a group. Would you vote yes or no for such a proposal? Why or why not?
jjKickerK 2 years ago
You forget that polygamy is illegal so your question is benign and baseless. So is bestiality and pedophilia so you can't use those arguments either. Your only course of action is to get over your homophobia and then you can quit trying to make insidious arguments against same sex marriage.
janonda42 2 years ago
You simply can't be serious. Is legality not precisely the issue at hand? Didn't you make this video to support the legalization of something that is not currently legal? jjKickerK 2 years ago
It's ridiculous.
janaoo4 1 year ago
well said, props to you.
sandiego3336 2 years ago
Mormon scripture is silent on homosexuality. LDS leaders have been wrong in the past on Blacks and the Priesthood so they could very well be wrong on gays only the future will tell. I think that divorce is a much bigger threat to holy matrimony than gay marriage ever will be
rd1999 2 years ago
I agree with you. I also have heard the option about government staying out of marriage all together and calling all legal unions both hetero and homosexual civil unions and let churches perform the "marriage" ceremony. I just don't think it's a feasible option. I think ALL people deserve to be treated equally, and one day soon they will be. And you are definitely right about divorce being the bigger threat to marriage than gay couples.
janonda42 2 years ago

What a liberating day it was when I disengaged from the collective consciousness of right-wing propaganda that lines the pockets of churches rather than creating a better planet for us all.
janonda42 2 years ago
Right-wing propaganda? Yet you send me a link to a gay penguin video. Most of the scientific world laughs at this so called "Gay Animal" research.
I suggest you talk to a doggie shrink. Dog psychology is probably the most advanced field in Animal Behavior. Gay activists are quick show Rex humping Fido to prove their point but behaviorists explain that it's Rex asserting dominance NOT gay love! Fido licks Rex not as a sign of affection but submission. Rex only humps to prove he's the leader.

You are doing exactly what you say we are doing! You are blindly following activist websites & believing their propaganda.
Satan truly is using this battle to silence Christian beliefs & its working.
Sociologists studies clearly show Children taught/raised by homosexuals ARE more likely to be promiscuous & try homosexuality.
These are FACTS not fiction!
Please study both sides equally.

"Sociologists studies clearly show Children taught/raised by homosexuals ARE more likely to be promiscuous & try homosexuality."
Would you mind sharing your sources, K10star? I'm genuinely interested in these studies you cite.
quizzabella 2 years ago

I personally would vote yes to Prop 8 because I think it is not right for the same sex to get married. the way i see it is that theyre are no other animals in the animal kingdom that mate with the same sex, why should we? To me thats going against nature.
eagle54020 2 years ago
I hate to break this to you but I used to have a female dog named Shilo. She had a litter of puppies and we decided to keep the runt of the litter, another female. When she was about 2 years old mom and daughter started trying to mate on a regular basis. It happens frequently in the animal kingdom. The only difference between heterosexuals and homosexuals is their gender attraction. Other than that they are tax paying, law abiding citizens, who love, laugh, cry, work, volunteer, etc.
janonda42 2 years ago
eagle: You're not very well informed. Get a grip!

you should be ashamed of yourself, lady. why did you leave your church? because you lost your love for God? because you rather turn to a sinful lifestyle than respect His word? you disgust me.
mbison83 3 years ago
LOL - Ever hear the scripture Judge Not? Much love to you.
janonda42 3 years ago
whats judgeful about protecting the marriage? ever heard the scripture saying that man lying with another man is commiting a sinful act? does it not get to you that homosexual lifestyle is a sin? what dont you understand?
mbison83 3 years ago
You're not protecting marriage, you are judging homosexuals based on your interpretation of a book written by mortal men. You cannot persecute gays in one breath and follow the clear admonition by the Savior to Love Your neighbor. The 2 are incompatible. So if you choose to judge rather than love you are committing sin. but I'm sure your pride won't allow you to see it that way - (which by the way is another sin.)
janonda42 3 years ago
You could have looked at prop 8 from a different and hateless perspective towards Christians, like simply caring and defending our values, which marriage takes a part in. Ofcourse you dont hate anyone, but it is not about hate here, lady. It's about the marriage and standing for whats right. Marriage between same sex couples is one of the things that is not only immoral but an abomination to our Lord.
mbison83 3 years ago
Once you learn to user proper English when you write I'll consider unblocking you, but for now, it's too hard to wrap my mind around your thinking, let alone your grammar.
janonda42 3 years ago
You need to reevaluate yourself and look beyond the homosexual brainwashing bigotry that exists against religion, and maybe you will notice several disgusting ways that they use to ridicule the church.
I am a sinner.. just like yourself, but I am trying to be the best Christian that I can. Unfortunately, it is not possible in this liberal nation. That's why I will answer in front of Him for my sins. I advise you to evaluate your lifestyle and accept God and His word for what it is.
mbison83 3 years ago
Hmmm - Let me see -- homosexual brainwashing bigotry?? We have human beings whose only difference to heterosexuals is their same gender attraction and ALL they want is to be seen as equals - to be able to marry the person they love. Now...we have religious zealots who want to tell them they aren't equal or as good as them so they must be kept on the fringes. Who are the brainwashed bigots here? Please for the sake of our country and planet - USE YOUR BRAIN!
janonda42 2 years ago
exactly if they were protecting marriage, they woudl be banning divorce, not gay marriage
idaman12345 2 years ago
If Jesus said "cleave unto his wife", He would no doubt offer such a person as you mention the possibility of healing and/or forgiveness. If one believes God sets absolutes, his statement doesn't open the door to remove homosexuality from His list as a sin. God bless you.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I realize the thought police won't let certain messages through that go against their point of view, but Christ did say a man should "cleave unto his wife", not his boyfriend.
Homosexual "theologians" have their way around it, but if Christ said it, you call the sinner out of their sin. Forgive them as they repent of that sin and leave it. There's no intolerance in Christ doing that.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I respect you for honoring your beliefs, I really do. I simply wish that that you could explain in rational terms how gay marriage would hurt straight marriage. Just one reason in the here and now and not simply "God says so." And do you know by whom and when the bible was written?
janonda42 3 years ago
Those with heterosexual marriages won't be hurt. It's simply that society, with rare exceptions, has defined marriage as between those of opposite sexes, to a great extent to raise future generations.
My opposition to homosexual "marriage" comes from deeply-held religious beliefs, and by the knowledge that people have changed. Plus, Christ NEVER gave the ok for homosexual unions, witness his statement "cleave unto his wife".
carnaco2 3 years ago
What about celibate priests who never marry?
janonda42 3 years ago
Could you elaborate? I'm not Catholic, but I don't see any connection.
carnaco2 3 years ago
They have no wife to cleave unto, along with all the other men that never marry for one reason or another that aren't gay. so if men have been commanded to cleave unto their wife, are they breaking God's law if they have no wife?
janonda42 3 years ago
Certainly not, since Jesus obviously was not married, as is the case with some of his disciples.
His comment tied in to the issue of divorce and simply stated that marriage, where it took place, was between one man and one woman.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I wonder what Jesus would have told someone if they had asked him "what about those of us who were born with only same sex attraction - must we live our lives lonely and unhappy?" Perhaps someone did and that information was conveniently omitted from the published work. I can see your mind is steeped in religious ideology and probably won't open to a greater more compassionate idea of our existence, so it's been nice debating, but I'm done for now. Blessings to you.
janonda42 3 years ago
And the Bible was written over a period of thouands of years, with the New Testament written mainly by those who knew Jesus, and within either a few years after His death and resurrection and up to about 100 years after that point. The New Testament also says that holy men of old wrote, inspired by God, His Holy Spirit.
Yes, men wrote the words, but they were inspired by God's Holy Spirit, with truths that remain absolute for all generations.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I'm not even close to a biblical scholar but from what I've read from those who are, the 4 Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John who speak of Jesus were written about 2 hundred years after His death. and were based simply on stories that had been passed down. Have you ever played the game telephone? If so, you know how gossip gets distorted. Also at the time there was a great hierarchy that had much to gain by controlling people through fear of a vengeful god.
janonda42 3 years ago
The oldest, or earliest-written, book in the NT is James, written by the brother of Jesus around 45 AD. The oldest book is the Book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John, a disciple of Jesus, a round the year 95.
PBS has had numerous liberal theologians who claim much later dates, but most theologians for years have agreed that contemporaries of Jesus, who lived during his lifetime, wrote the NT.
carnaco2 3 years ago
And I'm certain those conservative scholars are also the ones who claim the earth is 6000 years old although it's been proven otherwise. Everyone, including me, collects evidence to support our views, and we will always find someone whose ideas are more in alignment with ours. In the final analysis the only thing that matters is, did we do more good than harm in our life? The harm that's been inflicted on good people over the centuries because of the bible can in no way be viewed as good.
janonda42 3 years ago
I'll agree much harm has been done in the name of God. Far less, though, than in the name of Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Castro or any of a number of atheistic politicians.
Christians in Great Britain led the fight for abolition. Harvard was founded as a school of divinity.
If a theologian suddenly comes along with a biblical interpretation that contradicts centuries of scholarship, I'd question his motives.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I guess I'll continue the debate;-) Here's a quote from Hitler "... I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews. I am doing the Lord's work." And what about Constantine, the crusades, the inquisition, the witch trials? Hundreds of thousands of people tortured and killed all in the name of God. Debates like the one I'm having with you have given me greater respect for atheists. With no religious baggage they are free to make the world a better place.
janonda42 3 years ago
I agree with you about the Crusades. It was a terrible injustice, done in the name of Christ. It doesn't invalidate all the good that Christians have done through the centuries.
And Hitler was certainly no Christian and was on his own crusade.
As for atheistic regtimes like Stalin's, Mao's, Castro's, Pol Pot's? One has to admit that ungodly people have done more than their share of evil, too. Not all atheists are that way, obviously. But not all Christians are like the Crusaders, either.
carnaco2 3 years ago
On that we can definitely agree, so since we have found some common ground I would like to end the debate for now. Have a beautiful Sunday.
janonda42 3 years ago
Likewise.
Thanks for giving me the time, even though we obviously disagree on some points.
carnaco2 3 years ago
Sad.
carnaco2 3 years ago
Just give it time. Once gay marriage is approved and society hasn't been destroyed we'll begin to understand that the true message of Christ was simply to love one another.
janonda42 3 years ago

billydeeuk 3 years ago
I will seriously take that into consideration. I'll just have to work on my gag reflex so I don't throw up while doing it. I know that's mean. I'm trying to be nice and understand ALL of God's children. But the hate that comes from that group is difficult to stomach.
janonda42 3 years ago
It's not even so much their message that bothers me, but the hatred and anger that radiates from them whenever you see them being interviewed or anything. Life is too short to be so angry with the world all the time.
billydeeuk 3 years ago
imromancatholic, I won't embarrass you by giving you a complete lesson on biblical scholarship, but it is worth pointing out that your reference from 1cor did not contain the word homosexual until 1947. The original greek word malicoi or arsenocoites actually refers to male temple prositutes used in pagan rituals. The other word translates "morally soft" This text is about condemnation of idolatry and pagan temple worship, not homosexuality.

chrisehogan--We all develop certain tastes or are exposed to certain temptations which we all have a choice to take part in. Some are tempted by booze or drugs and give in. Others don't give in.
Some are tempted to engage in a homosexual lifestyle. Some give in, others don't.
carnaco2 3 years ago
Oh, puleeeeeese STOP with this ignorant illusion. Homosexuality is a character trait - not a character flaw, and once small minded people can understand that the more enlightened our society will become. Now go think it through.
janonda42 3 years ago
To you, it's a "character trait" that justifies your continuing in it, rather than changing, as many have done successfully.
Just because it's difficult to do doesn't mean it's impossible. Nor does it validate the theory that one is born homosexual.
carnaco2 3 years ago
I'm not gay, nor have I ever been inclined to be such. But I see the souls of those who are. They are no different than heterosexuals except in their same sex attractions. Can you imagine being told that in order to be accepted by society or loved by God you had to change your opposite sex attraction? God doesn't ask us to be unhappy and neither should we require that of others to fit our own distorted view of scripture..
janonda42 3 years ago
And as for Christ's words "A man shall leave his parents and cleave unto his wife?" Certainly no inclusion of homosexuals in that statement.
carnaco2 3 years ago
Somewhere in the bible it also says it's okay to murder unruly children and stone to death a wife for adultery. Everything in context my friend.
janonda42 3 years ago
Calling it a "character trait" simply justifies one's continuing in it, rather than correcting it, as many have done.
But then, some would rather fight than switch, obviously.

I'm not being blinded or told not to think outside the box- in fact, my believing the way I do is the first time I HAVE thought outside the box my entire life.
savienu 3 years ago
Then you my friend have been decieved. What master you are serving? The master Jesus Christ never mentions homosexuality, loved ALL people, and taught only love, not piousness and self righteousness. People who are born homosexual deserve love, companionship and comittment as well as all the rights and privileges straight people have. Prohibiting them from this right does nothing to promote well being or harmony in a society. Denying gays equal rights is what is harming society! Wake-up!
janonda42 3 years ago
Jesus also said, quoting Genesis said that "a man shall leave his parents and cleave unto his wife".
Homosexuals make claims of being born homosexual but provide no valid scientific studies that show there's a "gay gene". It's as if they're afraid science will one day say there is no such thing, and they're left out there trying to explain how they "feel" they were born that way. Scares them, I'm sure.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for making and posting this video. I applaud you, your views and your courage.
The New Testament is a book of love and acceptance.
Equal rights are good for all.
And, yes, if left to a popular vote, civil rights will often come out on the losing end ... but that doesn't make it any less wrong.
Thank you again.

Please make up your mind people.
alexgomez2 3 years ago

A hard truth for some to accept.
biltboard 3 years ago
I agree that God has created us for happiness. I can't imagine Him creating homosexuals and then expecting them to be denied happiness. I agree there are some things ungoldy and immoral, and some things heteros do fall into that category as well as homosexuals. However, two people who feel and know God's love and want to spend their lives together who just happen to be gay, I don't believe falls into that category. The illusion is our fear of what we don't understand.
janonda42 3 years ago
This is where faith becomes so important. Believing (in His word)even though we do not understand or agree. We need to have the faith to believe that He is perfect and that His ways are not our ways and neither are our ways His ways. My views re homosexual relations are based upon what has been revealed in scripture and it will be wrong for us to condone or tolerate what has been adjudged as unacceptable to God.People don't "happen to be gay" they BECOME gay by submission and commission.
biltboard 3 years ago
And that is your perception and interpretation, which I honor and respect, I just don't happen to agree with it. It's not what I want, it's what I believe is God's will for us, and that is to judge not, and love our neighbors as ourselves, and if there are those who are out of alignment with His love, he will take care of it. It's not our job. But I do understand your beliefs and that you heart is in the right place, which is actually the most important thing. God's mysteries are great.

MACCAPONE60 3 years ago
Oh the sophistry of the philosophies of the ignorant.Your alleged belief in the Saviour is at best subjective and at worst a convenient ploy to give credibility to your otherwise distorted perspective/comment of divine truth. It's not what YOU believe that matters,it is, is it TRUTH? Sadly, your views are in contravention of the will of God NOT only as espoused by the(LDS)Church, but by God himself. So it's YOUR opinions vs GOD's TRUTH... As for me and my house ....I know who I will follow.
biltboard 3 years ago
I recognize the delusion in both our ways of thinking. God's creations of which we are all a part, are perfect, it is only our perceptions that divide us from Him. It is the Atonement of our brother that heals us in every way. When we recognize that as a creation of God we are one with Him, we can feel His full love and offer it to others without judgment or guilt. My video was a projection of my fear. I have changed.I recognize in you your divinity and your onesness with God and our Savior.
janonda42 3 years ago
It is my belief that God, in His perfect expression of love for us,does not condone a sinner's actions yet still loves the sinner. Opponents of P8 were quick to criticise proponents accusing them of bigotry, intolerance, bible-thumping and homophobia. They were un-able/willing to accept that while I and millions of others, abhor homo-sexual behaviour it doesn't mean that we abhor gay people. The P8 legalisation of such gay rights would however "legally" force me to accept/condone what is immoral
biltboard 3 years ago
Gay marriage would not hurt you, your marriage or family (except in your thinking). But gay people ARE hurt over your decision not to allow them full happiness. The only thing being forced is the idea that homosexuality is abhorent to God. Why does Jesus Christ never mention homosexuality? There are only a few vague references to it in the bible, yet so many people use those references to justify persecuting others rather than "judge not", "love your neighbor" and "do unto others"?
janonda42 3 years ago
Treating gays like 2nd class citizen is wrong. Whether gay or straight, we are all human beings created, loved and wanted by the same Creator God. However, it is not for us humans to decide which "orientation" is right or wrong. It's God's right only. The God of the Bible has very clearly made his point in condemning a gay lifestyle (see Romans 1). My advice to all people, be they gay or straight, is to agree with God in the issue and obey the Creator. God's hates sin notr does he favor people.
tevionaldi 3 years ago
God loves all His creations, of which we are. Why would he create something that He does not favor? When we understand our oneness with Him we will heal the separation which has us in fear of Him. We are of Him. He loves us, we need only recognize that.

mrrimfire 3 years ago
It's interesting how our world is evolving. Never before in history have gays tried to fight for their rights. It's time! For centuries they have taken their place as 2nd class citizens due to the homophobic rhetoric being spewn about by bible thumpers. A New Age is being ushered in where people are taking their power back from those who would oppress them. This is a great age to be alive.
janonda42 3 years ago
Dear FreedomAintFree1: Equating Gay Marriage to beatility is as ridiculous as thinking that a straight person would find an animal of the opposite gender sexually attractive. Gay marriage is about the love between two consenting adults.
If the definition of marriage had not changed black and white people would not be able to marry in 16 states, or more by now. It is not about a label, it is about equal rights. Separate but equal does not work. Civil unions do not give the same rights.
anxfisa 3 years ago
How would you like it if Straight people CHANGED your definition of Gay?
How can you change the definition of Marriage?
Let's change the definition of "gay" to:
- An animal with sexual desires to the same sex.
Would't you be extremely upset if we changed YOUR definition of Gay?
Imagine how we feel when you change the definition of marriage. Imagine that.
What about the 2nd graders in MA being told stories of a Prince who married a Prince?
Leave kids alone.
FreedomAintFree1 3 years ago
Oh my gosh, the delusion just continues. Some strange twisted perceptions that only exist in the mind and some people insist on perpetuating these delusions, these theories without any basis in fact. History teaches us that the only way a civilization can thrive is where tolerance of our differences exists. Without that we end up burning witches, having slaves, and torturing Christians. Is that what you want freedomaintfree1?
janonda42 3 years ago
This is the 21st century, no one is going to die, unless they support Prop 8 and run into a mob of Prop 8 haters.
What rights are missing from Civil Unions?
What do you think about changing definitions?
What do you think about children being taught about ANY kind of marriages at such a young age?
Until you face my questions, I refuse to respond again.
Have a good day.
FreedomAintFree1 3 years ago
You're right - no one will die, but if someone does die that's in a same sex civil union they won't get SS benefits or other survivor beneifts, like heterosexual couples get.
In hospitals if you're a family member you can get updates on sick loved ones. Without the designation of legal spouse, you may not.
It would work to make all marriages civil unions first, regardless of gender With exactly the same state and federal benefits across the board...Continued
janonda42 3 years ago
continued...Children won't be taught about ANY marriage. Tolerance for our diversity is good.
janonda42 3 years ago
I forgot to add about the legal civil unions first for all wanting to marry regardless of gender, and then leaving churches and relgions the descresion of offering the cermony to whom they want.
janonda42 3 years ago

She lived in poverty working double time as a single mother trying to support her large family. The Church supported her. I value the gifts the Church offer, and yet, here I am, a lesbian, with so much sorrow. I have a broken heart.

Most of all, Prop 8 is about being a complete fucking coward.
